Cool place to visit after walking the Campbell Farmers Market. Fairly busy at 12:45 on a Saturday but still no problem getting served or finding a spot to hang out. They have bar, indoor, & outdoor seating and a kitchen if you're hungry. All ages are here & families grabbing a bite but it's 21+ after 9pm. A mix of music is playing inside & outside, it's Durand Jones & the Indicators at the moment followed by CCR. Give it a try & see what you think.

    Big Joe

hit the spot! got 2 Sando's and the hummus bites and everything was so amazing. food took a minute but boy was it worth it. the pita bread was hot and the sandwiches were the perfect lunch. I wish I lived closer so I could make this a regular spot of mine!

We stopped her after a short shopping trip. Spontaneously decided to try a new place for a beer. We walked in and the manager, Courtney, noticed us and handed us a menu versus having to look at the screen that was scrolling too quickly to read what there drink options were. Courtney was very pleasant and was thoughtful to let me taste the cider before choosing it. The bar was completely full. That's great to see for any for any restaurant you walk into. I had a delicious hard cider, it wasn't sweet at all! Loved it! My boyfriend had an Oatmeal stout. He also enjoyed his choice. We sat outside on their high chair seating patio! It's very quaint outdoors with the covered patio and the breeze flowing in. Plenty of street parking. We were there just after 1pm on a Saturday afternoon. There's a Farmers Market that's happening right there next to Taplands. I'd definitely plan to stop in after a stroll at the Farmers Market. It was a nice treat! Looking forward to another cider!

Great place to grab some beers, kick back, and enjoy the game on tv. Food is also pretty tasty, I got the Big Joe sandwich and it left me plenty satisfied. Staff here is super friendly and nice and helped give me great recommendations for beers and food. Awesome place if you want a cool, modern place with good ambiance and good drinks!

Great place with new selection of beers everyday. they were doing bingo and I won a t-shirt on completing someone else bingo card lol. Matt and Chris are great and always welcoming ! There are some regulars who are always pleasant company and the place has varied seating including comfy couches and games to play with good for groups. And yes Santa Clara has its own downtown !

Awesome beer selection at this beer bar with light food. The place was very popular on a Friday night. It is near a college campus and Jesuits aren't Baptists. Hallelujah! The low rating is for a kitchen that is clearly overwhelmed. It took 40 minutes to get a charcuterie plate and pita with dips. None of our food needed to be cooked. The kitchen really needs to be streamlined especially since they are starting a no outside food policy. One place to start is by not heating the olives. I've never been serviced hot olives before and they are not better for it. But by all means come here for a beer or three.

    Ask the Community - Taplands

    Do they have trivia night?

Not currently but we are working on getting a new host to add it back to Monday night! Please check our social media for the coming announcement.

Do you have any gluten-free or gluten-reduced beers either on tap or in the cooler? Thanks!

Some Breweries reduce the gluten in all their beers and we may not be aware of this. Otherwise we do not offer gluten free beer on a regular basis. We do however always have wine and hard cider available in cans and draft.

    Do you offer crowlers?

Yes we do. And we will fill your Growler as well, but it is the customer responsibility to ensure it is sanitary.

Are you guys still doing trivia? If so what day?

Unfortunately we no longer offer a trivia night… for now. Perhaps we will revive it in the Spring. Keep an eye on our socials for info!

Do you refill my growler to go?

Yes. Please make sure it is clean. We can sanitize it for you but can not ensure cleanliness.

Hello! I hope you are staying happy and healthy. I was wondering if you offer a trivia night at this time (8/3/2021)?…

I am sorry, we do not at this time. We are considering it for after Covid restrictions are lifted and things are back to a predictable "normal".

    Is it Dog friendly?

    Our patio IS dog friendly!!

    Are there any TVs outside?

    Yes, just 1

We are visiting our daughter and son-in-law. I love beer but my wife won't touch it. Does Taplands serve wine?

We do. It is limited but we’ve got a few reds, a few whites, canned rose, and Prosecco!

Do they have ciders on tap or just beer?

2 cider taps and a few more available in bottles and cans.

Is there outside seating? How is this place for large-ish groups? I'm thinking of having a birthday get together here.

We have a large patio with 6-10 seat picnic tables. Reservations are encouraged although we do not take reservations Thursday or Friday after 5pm.

Do they have a gluten free brew?

Fries were standard frozen fries w the seasoning and tbh just not my favorite flavor combo. I love garlic truffle parm or something like, the Cajun garlic was newer to me. The chicken tenders were not really strips, but pieces of cut chicken. The breading was light and crispy and the chicken was juicy. These were really good served w bbq sauce and buffalo sauce. As we were leaving, it almost looked like they were closing down for the night. I think we were the last ones out at like 6:30 and I know just realized that is super early for a Saturday night. Overall it wasn't too crowded, the bar was open to sit at but the dining in front were taken by a soccer team outing.

First of all, the staff and owner are incredibly nice. They made recommendations for our meal so we could have the best experience. It felt personal and you could feel the chef's love and care with each bite. The space itself is small but incredibly charming. From the paintings on the walls, brick wall, cozy lighting, beautiful mural, and comfortable open seating, it really set the stage for a wonderful meal. Fox Tale Fermentation Project also has plenty of rotating alcoholic and mocktail options which pair nicely with dishes! I ordered the Cali Classic Burger, and although the protein fell apart as soon as I took a bite, however, it was delicious. These flavors are so complex and funky that you can't help but take another bite. Generally, in non vegetarian dishes, the strong flavors of the meat/protein carries the dish, but in these dishes, the condiments, veggies, and fermented elements take your taste buds on a journey beyond the dish itself! The Fox Sando that my girlfriend ordered was also delicious. The toasted ciabatta was the star vessel for the rest of the ingredients. Perfectly toasted with slight hints of char, it really absorbed a lot of the sauces and spreads. I was lucky enough to take the second half of the sandwich home and eat it for breakfast the next day. I was so shocked when the sando itself held up in the fridge and was delicious cold! The flavors absorbed themselves into the bread but didn't make it soggy. I attribute this to the fact the ingredients didn't need to be heated up again to be tasty! Overall, I would absolutely recommend Fox Tale Fermentation Project for anyone who's looking for something different and unforgettable.

I live in San Jose now, so I don't make it over as often, but I've always considered it one of my favorite places for a great burger. In fact, I was just telling a coworker this week how good their burgers were, which is what convinced me to stop in for lunch today. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment. I ordered a burger, my wife had the chicken tenders, and we shared an order of cheese fries. The burger arrived completely undercooked. The pictures don't even do it justice--it wasn't just rare, it was raw. After a few bites I realized the meat wasn't even warm in the center. Since they use pre-formed patties, I'd think cooking them consistently would be one of the easier things to get right. By the time I realized how raw it was, I'd already eaten a few bites, and the meal was ruined. We ended up spending about $50 on a lunch that was essentially inedible. It was also 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and the restaurant was surprisingly empty. Maybe that's a sign that things have changed, but it's sad to see. As a longtime customer, this wasn't the experience I expected from a place I used to recommend without hesitation.

Just never got around to working a review before. Went early on a Saturday evening recently and was surprised to not have to wait. We split a Bibb lettuce salad that was simple, refreshing and perfect. A tiny pea fritter was the very definition of a small bite, and while it wasn't what I expected, it was crisp and tender. Grilled artichoke was one of the best I have ever had. (Just wish they had been explicit on the menu that it was a half a grilled artichoke). Cocktails were up to their usual high standard -- rye Manhattan for the BF and clarified milk punch for me. I don't get out much these days and I rarely drink alcohol, but is $20 a lot for a cocktail? Or is that normal now? They were great though. BF got the ribeye with morels, which was perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender. I had the burger, which was more exciting than it sounds, dressed with a wild combo of veggies, cheese and bacon while still managing to be harmonious and fresh tasting. Side of fries were crisp and tasty, though not as perfectly hot as I would ideally wish. Because the burger was late coming out, or server (Bernardo I think?) comped us an amazing little dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt, along with the butterscotch pudding that we ordered. The pudding didn't have the strong butterscotch flavor that I hoped for, but the vanilla ice cream stole the dessert show. OCK isn't a place I can afford often, but I still really like it. I appreciate the creativity of the dishes, the quality ingredients, and the bar. And the old-school shopping center vibe of the Pruneyard is low key festive and garden-like. Langos: fried bread topped with cream, topped with non melted cheese. All served cold Burrata Gourges. Deep fried to the point of being unrecognizable. The sautéed asparagus was good.
