We've had so many great dining experiences here through the years! We used to frequent this place when we lived here seven years ago, but now we're just tourists visiting and really excited for the wide selection of Beer choices & the patio. Service is super friendly and mostly a locals spot. Patio has a magical rainbow tree if you have children. Keikeis are welcome till 7 PM most nights and 10 PM on Sundays, I believe. Parking can be tight. Growlers available. Superb beer selection.

Strawberry drink? Can't remember name but it was good

Hubby and I decided to go in for a couple drinks and some food. Sat at a table and was greeted shortly after. We ordered our drinks and put in an order of Brussels sprouts and shrimp. Drinks came out quick but food took a while. Brussels sprouts came out first and seemed to be covered cooked a charred to a crisp (literally), then came out the shrimp appetizer, 6 pieces exactly. Flavors for both appetizers were overpowering with pepper and just wasn't our jam. Our drinks were good and the service was great. The place seems to attract locals but we'd skip it.

I enjoyed Taps & Apps a lot. If it weren't so far away from where I live I would probably visit more often. I got the fish n'chips and enjoyed it quite a bit. The fish portion was large and it tasted fresh, and the chips were hot and fresh as well. The garlic and parmesan on the chips made them even better. My draft beer was cold and refreshing, and I enjoyed their extensive draft and bottled/canned beer and cider list. The only part that I didn't love was that it was a little loud in there, but honestly, I have come to expect that most sports bar type places are going to be loud like that. It did make having a conversation with friends difficult. However, service was prompt and the food was really good, so overall I am happy to give this one 5 stars.

The food is actually my favorite out of any bar in this area! Very tasting high-quality and cooked exceptionally great! If I'm to be completely honest, service is great if you're sitting at the bar, sometimes there's a bit of a weight if you are sitting on the Lanai part or depending on how many workers they have. To be honest, I don't mind waiting because the food quality is so great and the bartenders are usually very attentive! The decor is awesome nice cool AC and clean environment! I've always seen their bathrooms clean! Which definitely is a plus!

Hidden gem of Mililani Mauka. Love all the beer selection and the food was so yummy too!! Excellent service and fun low key ambiance. We'll have to go back to check out their Karaoke night on Thursdays! Katsu sliders were my fave! Yum

Nice bar and restaurant in Mauka, where parking is easy and free. Service was quick and friendly! They have lots of tvs, sports, etc. Food was super good!! We ordered the fish and chips, the fries were perfect and the loco loco.

Driven past multiple times but first time eating here. Lots of beers, seltzers on tap. So many great choices. They will allow you to taste a small bit before buying a cup which is good. Ordered some apps. They ran out of sliders so made us a pulled pork sandwich/burger instead. Also got brussel sprouts which were too sweet imo but had a great crisp! Fish and chips were fried perfectly. We liked the thickness of the fries. Wings were great too. Enjoyed the honey chipotle flavor. The ahi tataki was refreshing and liked the chili crisp on top. Overall, service, food, etc were good and our group had a good time. The picnic table we sat on though was sticky and could use a refinish and good cleaning

Buffalo chicken flatbread OMG. I love this so much. But it's so hot. But I want another bite. But it's so hot.

The buffalo chicken flatbread is SO good. But it's so hot. But it's so good. But my mouth is on fire. I might need a side of bleu cheese dressing next time. Or 1/2 the sauce. But it's so good! Amazing service- very attentive even though they were busy. Love the happy hour menu! Ambiance was exactly what we wanted for watching the college football championship game! We may have to become locals here!

Went to Taps & Apps over the weekend to enjoy an early dinner while in the area. Service was friendly and it wasn't too loud despite the football games on the screens. They have a good variety of craft beers on draft, as well as canned and bottled options. I enjoyed my dragonfruit lemonade Cider from Ola while the hubby tried a pineapple sour by Lanikai and an IPA by BeerLab. We split an order of garlic fries, smash burger sliders and the green salad. There was a hefty portion of fries and they were crisped nicely on the outside, fluffy inside. Salad had a tangy balsamic dressing which complemented the sweet strawberries and candied Mac nuts. Smash burgers were alright too. Overall good place to grab a refreshing brew and some good eats.

Calamari (not consistent, compare to recent photos). Large sea salt fries (enough for 3-4 people)

Food is decent. Beer selection is always changing and they bring in seasonal brews. Service can be sparse when they're short staffed but for the most part is always on point. Be aware of where the speakers are placed, because if you get a seat next to one it can be loud. Please change one the TVs to local sports! OC16/Spectrum Sports.

    Clarissa L.

Best fish and chips in the area! Zucchini fries and chicken katsu sliders plus happy hour beers also for the win Picnic table in the corner for bigger groups is honestly grimy and could stand to be re-finished, or at the very least covered but the service was good and the kitchen was pretty quick. They did also let us know when we sat, no minors after 7pm, which I do wholeheartedly appreciate as we had to opportunity to leave vs being told we had to leave if we weren't done by then

As for the food, it is a hit & miss. Some of our party liked their salad w/fried Char Siu chicken, onion rings and tots were also good appetizer food to munch on. Others had the Kalua Pig burger which was real salty. I had their Loco Moco with their dark gravy, which also was a bit too salty. I also chose to have the burger cooked medium well, which was a bit too tough to chew. I should have chosen medium. (An update to my previous post - I upgraded this review to 4 stars, from previous 3. As we left the place, the nice waitress stopped my friend who had the Kalua burger & gave her a new Kalua as the chef threw out the previous batch & made a new one. She loved it. Now who does that in today's world, listened to the customer & make a new batch & even sought out the person to make it right. This is a place to definitely come back to. Awesome Beer Lab!!!) The drinks were their pluses. And their service was excellent. Our waitress was very nice & very attentive. I did like their ordering system thru Toast where you scan a barcode & order & pay before the food gets to you. You can pay individually or as a group. Keep in mind the group tip is set at 20%, but the waitress deserved it.

Unfortunately, something has changed recently and you can see it throughout recent reviews here, which tells me this is a taught practice by management and not just one shady server. Mainly, being up charged or sold "extras" without disclosing they're actually add ons. Our table of 4 had 3 different sandwiches, 2 burgers and a chicken sandwich. While ordering the server offered each of us, "would you like fries, onion rings, or salad with that?" There was no disclosure of it being additional, and she never used the words add ons or extras. When the bill was received, all 3 that received the sandwiches and "sides" were shocked to see upcharges (example $5.00 extra for 1/4 cup of greens and 2 slices of cucumber) when we were being offered these with our orders. When I asked the server about the charge, I asked why it wasn't disclosed it was extra, and that we only answered her question of which side we wanted because she offered as if it was included, her responses were baffling. The first was "There's nowhere on island that serves fries with a sandwich", to which I said, "but you didn't say it was extra, you offered them as if they were included", she said "it's written on the menu". To note: fries, onion rings, and side salads are listed on the menu, in their own section, separate from the sandwich sections. So while it is written, they know exactly what they're doing when they offer you sides or sauces, and you can see other recent reviews here making the same complaint. This left an extra bad taste for our table as we had come in to help support them after the recent tropical storm left them without power. We were excited to participate in a local event they were hosting and help support them after losing stock and days being closed from the storm, just to have this shady process of being upsold things we didn't order (on a $350+ bill that also included shirts from their merch store). Scuzzy way of thanking your community for coming in and patronizing your restaurant. Really disappointed after years of Hana Koa being my favorite place.

But our second time was a mellow Wednesday for lunch and while the timing was better (still not synced), the food was either meh or completely shameful. Yes, shameful! Wife got the Caesar salad with char siu chicken katsu. The chicken was ono but the salad was lazy. Basic greens with a low-quality bottled sauce squeezed on top. No wonder it came out five minutes before mine. I got the fish tacos with tots (extra $2), and this dish was the most egregious rip off I've ever seen in a restaurant. No wonder the server dropped it and ran. For $18, I got three street taco-sized flour tortillas, goopy mayo-laden "slaw", and pico with a teeny tiny piece of fish on top. See the pics! Smaller than my thumb. Barely two tater tots in size. And because it was plopped into mayo slaw, it was soggy on arrival. The fish was also suspiciously fishy tasting. I debated eating it. I ended up making one taco with all the fish and a potato taco with some tots before finally giving up. I know things are tough for restaurants right now. But this was ridiculous. I paid and left and called it a lesson learned. I'll likely stick to the Pucks Alley location from now on. Still some pride in what they serve there.

If you prefer to try different ways and flavors, then you will love this. Service was great and our server was attentive at all times. Thank you. The slaw, to me, was too crunchy and could have marinated longer to soften up. Again, this dish lacked salt. The Pina Coladas, were very tasty and refreshing, but were too sweet so it was hard to get a second one and come close to finishing. I had my partner help me drink it because it was too much. We tried the paniolo burger (excellent) and the It's a Gouda burger (good, but I couldn't really taste the aioli or the Gouda). The mac salad on the side is fairly good although I prefer Zippy's because it's more flavorful. Kona's is a bit on the bland side. I got an itty bitty beer to go with my drink and didn't realize that the 5 ounce pour was basically the size of one of their little taster flight beers, but it's $4.25, where the 10 ounce is $6.25. Kind of wish my server had pointed out the 10 ounce is a better value, but they were extremely casual and seemed pretty distracted the whole time, so I don't think they thought to mention it. The 15% off for kama'aina makes the food a better deal. A nice place for a bite to eat and to try some interesting beers and seltzers on tap.

My first visit to this restaurant was unfortunately a very disappointing experience from the moment…read morewe walked in. My partner and I had just finished a long hike and were excited to relax, enjoy a good meal, and watch the World Cup game. When we arrived, we approached the host stand to put our name on the waitlist. Instead of being greeted with a smile or any sense of hospitality, the host, Sarah, came across as very snarky, dismissive, and unwelcoming. She informed us there would be approximately a 45-minute wait, which we completely understood and were happy to accept. While waiting, we stood near the bar area so we could watch the World Cup match. Despite standing there for around 25 minutes, not a single bartender or employee acknowledged us, offered a menu, or even greeted us. Eventually, after about 30 minutes of waiting, a table in the bar area became available. Since it was empty, we sat down, assuming it was open. Within moments, the host approached us with the same rude attitude and told us that table was being held for another party. We politely asked to speak with a manager. Rather than responding professionally, she visibly rolled her eyes before going to get one, which only reinforced how unwelcome we felt. When the manager arrived, the interaction was equally disappointing. He never asked us what had happened or tried to understand our perspective. Instead, he immediately apologized and reiterated that the table was reserved for another waiting party. We didn't want to cause a scene, so we simply moved to another available bar table. What made the situation especially frustrating was that the original table they insisted was reserved remained empty the entire time afterward. No one was ever seated there while we watched. It left us questioning why such a rigid stance was taken over a seating arrangement that appeared easily manageable. The issue was never about having to move tables. We understand restaurants get busy and that hosts have to manage seating. The problem was the complete lack of hospitality, communication, and customer service. From the host's attitude and eye-rolling to the manager's unwillingness to listen before making a decision, we felt like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. As first-time customers, first impressions matter. We arrived excited to enjoy our evening, but instead left feeling ignored, dismissed, and genuinely unwelcome. A little kindness, professionalism, and a willingness to communicate could have completely changed this experience. Unfortunately, that's not what we received.
