If you live too far from Honolulu and you're craving a beer but don't want to go to a brewery because it's far, this is a great option. This brewpub it tucked away in the shopping center, parking kind of sucks, but if you can find a spot I recommend checking this place out. Upon entering the women at the door checked our IDs and gave us a wristband. She informed us it was open seating so we just went to the bar. Rachel was the bartender and she was very friendly and efficient. She recommended some beers for us to try which is just what we wanted. We didn't want anything too big so we ordered the Brussel sprouts and "nachos" which were really just stuffed potato skins. Both were lacking on the flavors, so we asked for a side of Buffalo sauce and that improved both dishes immensely! Portions were satisfying and the beer selection is good, they had 36 different beers (local and from all over the US) on tap. There is live music on Friday that started at 8. This is a cool little spot in Mililani next to wing stop. It was packed on a Friday but my friend and I were lucky enough to snag a table. When you first walk in, sign in is to the right and then you just wait until someone is able to card you and give you a wrist band. I'm not sure if they do this every night, the whole wrist band thing, but either way stay put and follow the directions on the sign. Once your seated there is a QR Code to scan on each table and it's a bit of a wait because the servers are all really busy. I highly recommend putting in drink orders and food orders all at the same time. Once service got started our waiter was great. Loved all the apps except the pupu steak. The brown gravy tasted like McCormicks but everything else was excellent. We also had a mushroom flatbread and garlic parm fries which were delicious. I visited Taps and Apps last weekend for the first time ever. They have a lovely patio in back with retractable awnings and the trunk of a rainbow eucalyptus tree that were the perfect space for a party. The food was on point! I guess they recently got a new chef. We had both the burger sliders and the pulled pork ones. The pork sliders were my favorite. The burgers had a perfect crisp cook on the outside. Everything was well seasoned and managed to be distinct in flavor while still bringing comfort food vibes. The chef even made a custom Reese's chocolate cake. Epic. We will be back. read more

Came here for a small get together with friends from Crossfit. Located in Mililani, a small but spacious bar. The place was very comfortable with outdoor and indoor seating. There was a sign on the door informing guests that they were short staffed and to be patient. Saw a total of three staff, the chef, the bartender, and the waitress. However during our time there, we were checked up on a decent amount of time. Our waitress Paige was great. She checked up on us at the right times. It was our first time here aside from one of us who has been here before. The food was amazing and they had a wide selection of drinks. They had drinks from beers on tap, craft beers, wines, and cocktails. I had one of the craft beers that tasted of orange vanilla, it was so good. For our food we ordered a lot. We tried their Sea Salt Fries, Pupu Steak (Cooked Medium Well), Salmon Dynamite Dip, Mushroom & Brie, Zucchini Fries, and Burger Sliders. The amount of food we ordered was fulfilling. I really loved their Salmon Dynamite Dip. This came with wonton chips. The Pupu Steak was cooked nicely, just wish the portion was a little bigger for the price. Zucchini fries were a bit more on the soggier side seemed that they didn't drip the oil out but the regular fries were crunchy and thick. Overall my experience there was great. Staff was really nice to us and the food was delicious. The vibe of this place can be chill, we came during Sunday night football so it was a little louder than usual. They also have Karaoke nights. I didn't want to do this because Taps is the closest liquor establishment to my house (Mililani Mauka) but the other night was too much. Now I'll be forced to drive out of Mililani to find a decent place to get a drink. It seems like most of the negative reviews I've read relating to Taps has to do with customer service or lack thereof. Well ... that is what I'll be primarily focusing on. First off, let me say that I've been going to Taps since they first opened in Mauka. No ... I'm not an alcoholic. LoL I barely drink but at least once or twice a month, my GF and I will go to Taps to cruise and talk story. I thought it was awesome driving for less than 5 minutes to get to my neighborhood watering hole for some pupus and a craft beer but ... looks like those days are gone. The other night, my GF and I get to Taps. We get carded at the door and told to seat ourselves. Fine, not a big deal. I prefer choosing my own table anyway. Once we sit down, I look around and see only one waiter in the entire place. Whatever ... times are hard. Who knows. Maybe he's a really efficient waiter. Anyway, we scan the QR code and check out the menu for whatever reason (we always order pretty much the same thing every time). Once we decided on what kind of pupus we were getting and which craft beer we were gonna try, I try to make contact with the waiter. Now keep in mind that by this point, we had already been sitting there for roughly 10 minutes. During that entire 10 minutes, the server hasn't so much as greeted us, asked us if we wanted water, or even told us "I'll be with you in a few minutes". I know for a fact that HE SAW US when we sat down so he KNEW that we were there. (As a reference point, there were about (6) other groups seated throughout Taps. About (2) of them were cashing out.) So ... this clown walks back and forth, back and forth literally 5 feet away from us without ever saying a word. At this point, I'm trying to make eye contact with him to throw the hint that we needed help and wanted to place our order but ... nothing. This goes on for another 10 minutes. When I look around for the lady that carded us, she was sitting by the door playing with her phone. I'm guessing her only function was to card customers. She apparently wasn't going to be any help. By this point, I stand up and walk over to the bar to get us a couple of beers. Well, that didn't work out too well either. I stood there for a few minutes while the bartender chit chatted with an old drunk guy that was cashing out. After a few minutes, it didn't seem like she was going to help me so I walk back to our table. As I'm sitting down, I noticed the "waiter" look at me then quickly look down at his phone. I ask my GF "Is it me or does it seem like this guy is purposely ignoring us?" I even asked her if she thought that I was being impatient and/or unreasonable simply because she's normally way more patient than I am. She was actually pretty annoyed too at that point. We were tripping out. To make a long story short, the waiter walks back and forth a few more times without so much as looking at us. We basically wasted another 10 minutes just sitting there waiting to be helped. I cannot even explain how pissed I was. Each time I looked at this "waiter" (as he walked by), the more I wanted to throat punch him. Just in case he reads my review, it was you, the waiter wearing a baseball cap, glasses, with dreadlocks going down the back of your neck. When we finally walked out, the lady who carded us didn't even notice. She was probably too engrossed in her IG or Facebook account to care. As I drove off, I thought about it and realized that over the years, all of the really nice waiters/waitresses/bartenders that I enjoyed interacting with were all gone. Every single time we go there, I don't recognize any of the wait staff. There is always a new waiter/waitress helping us. I never really gave it much thought because like I said, I rarely go out and drink but after what I experienced the other night, it seems like the turnover at Taps must be pretty high. Whatever the case, I'm done with Taps. DONE!! That dreadlocked server did it for me. I would rather drive the 20 minutes into town than to give my money/business to these clowns. For what's it's worth, I've noticed that the rating for Taps on Yelp has been steadily declining over the years. At least now I know why .. read more

Can to support our friend who was singing there and I'll definitely be back. They were short staffed and we understand how it can be. Ho everytime i've come here it's always been a good time. There's such a big selection of beers to choose from and you can just get a flight to try multiple ones, and so far it's been pretty good. And even the food is bangin. The salmon dip, shlangin. The sliders, can't go wrong. The fries, they're fries they're good. One of my childhood friends recommended we get the arugula thing, I don't even like vegetables like that but it was so good. Like, even the brussels sprouts were good, like what the heck dude. I was shoving that stuff in my mouth it was so good. The ambiance of the place is so comfortable as well. Dark interior with warm lights makes the inside really comfortable. And the outside patio area has these cute lil hangin lights, and there's live music sometimes. We couldn't choose one so we got the T&A Burger, Mushroom & Brie Flatbread, and Roasted Brussel Sprouts to share. It was all flavorful and filling. My favorite though was definitely the flatbread - they were definitely generous with all the toppings. I thought the brussel sprouts could have been roasted more, but the truffle lemon honey was very unique and who doesn't love bacon?! It was so much food that in the end it still looked as if we had barely touched everything. Made for good leftovers though! We opted for outdoor seating since it was nice outside and I absolutely LOVED that there were rainbow eucalyptus trees there. The staff were also very nice, personable, and attentive. I found out there is a brother in a shiny black Cadillac SUV that keeps an eye on the entire lot. I had the best burger of my life here. It didnt start out that way though. I ordered the T&A Burger. The menu describes the burger coming with Gruyere Cheese, Waipoli Mixed Greens & Local Butter Lettuce, Red Onion, Kamuela Tomatoes & Garlic Aioli. I ordered mine medium. When the burger arrived it looked great. I took a picture and then removed the top bun. I was horrified, it was covered in ketchup. The funny thing is I dont eat ketchup so I notified my server that I must have got the wrong burger. He informed me they thought I would like the spicy ketchup so they put it on. I had to send it back. I ended up with a brand new burger and it was so good. I think I would go with the medium-well next time because it was a bit too juicy and was kind of falling apart at the end. read more

Stumbled upon this place a few weeks ago while out and about in Mililani. They open at 2p and we came in shortly after they opened. We were the only ones there and decided to hangout at the bar. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable on the beer selection. She made us feel welcomed and chatted with us while we enjoyed some drinks. She is the reason for the high star rating. I wish I remembered her name but it was a Monday afternoon and she was great. The food was ok. The usual bar and finger food. We got the food on happy hour and we're already full from lunch so it was nice to just eat something small. I haven't tried their full menu but will come back to taste. read more

My husband loves beer on "Taps" and I was drawn by the "Apps". We came on a Saturday night around 8:30pm and it was pretty lively inside. As soon as we stepped through the door, there was a person posted there to ask for our ID's and then slipped some bracelets on us. It was actually so abrupt it kind of startled us. Anyway, we were looking for a more mellow mood so we were glad to see that there was room and a lot less noise outside. I'm surprised this place doesn't have better reviews- after scanning through it it looks like there were complaints about service. We actually had an excellent experience with our server- she was tall and blonde and very friendly. She looked like she was juggling a lot, but her demeanor was pleasant and warm with everyone she served. We ordered three food items: Pupu Steak, Fish and Chips, and the Mushroom Brie Flatbread. We also ordered a couple vodka shots and four beers among the two of us. The beers picture are the the House Wit (Stone) and the English Brown Ale. They had a surprisingly hefty collection to choose from, and they rotate them out occasionally. So if you're a beer drinker, then you'll never get bored of the love beer menu. There were out of a brown ale that I was looking for, but the server was quick to suggest an alternate that was nice. The "apps" looked less like appetizers and more like full entrees! I loved everything, and I was honestly a little shocked because of the ratings. So glad we gave this place a chance. We ordered all three dishes at the same time. The Pupu Steak came first and we upgraded it with the mushrooms. I feel like it's necessary to do that, because it really brings more depth of flavor to a steak. It was a delicious start. And then the Mushroom Brie Flatbread and Fish and Chips came out together. My husband loved the fries and I was crazy about the fish. Those pieces are huge! I enjoyed the batter and texture, and by the time we ate everything I didn't have much room for fries. I was a little skeptical about the flatbread because of the amount of arugula covering it. But I was floored by the citrus glaze on top of the arugula and how well it complimented the mushroom and brie. I would order everything again at the next visit but maybe take some leftovers home this time. I'm also conflicted though because now I'm curious above the other menu items like the calamari strips, sizzling salmon dip, or cornbread skillet with bbq pork. I know I've only visited once, but I believe this place deserves higher reviews. My husband is more of a beer connoisseur, so he's excited to try more in future visits. We ordered the garlic fries, shrimp and pesto flatbread, and the blackened seared ahi. Garlic fries were good but did not have much garlic taste. Met up friends last night. First time for me as I've heard about it from friends and was attracted by all the food pics on Yelp. Didn't need reservations but was told over the phone to come early, get seated, because there's a UFC game tonight. We chose the outdoor lanai cause it's alot more spacious and felt more safe being spread apart. Drinks come out immediately, while food arrives a few minutes later. Ordered a brunch of items, crispy calamari strips, mac nuts margherita flatbread, garlic parmesan wings, pupu steak, fish & chips, pretty much a whole bunch and everything was fresh and tasty. Tried this place with my coworker after we both came off of a rough shift in a rough week. Not too busy since it was a weekday and we got to choose our seating. The food itself was big ole portions and pretty tasty. The hapa nachos were a fun twist on a combination of classic bar foods. The staff were friendly and COVID conscious. However, when I ordered a non-alcoholic beverage my server made a couple joking comments about it. I'm two months sober off of alcohol and I know it was meant in fun, but maybe be a bit more mindful of customers. You never know why someone makes a decision and if I was in a struggling place with it, the comments definitely would've bothered me more. I loved their take on nachos, the mushrooms were so good, and the honey chipotle wings all had me wanting more. Well I should have known better with all the low yelp reviews pushing this to a 3.9 but local friends said it was good... well I beg to differ. Went inside, and it looked ok, typical dive bar with food and I am thinking that this could be my kind of place... I guess I was just setting myself up for disappointment. The wait staff instantly gave my friends son grief when we arrived saying the bar was 21 (he is under 18) after 7 pm... yeah it was 6:15PM.. .should have known the service was going to be slow at that moment. Then appetizers came... Calamari, how can you mess that up? Well, you can fry it too hot and for too long and bring burnt food that smelled burnt to the table is how... then sent that back, got a salad... brown avocado sitting out too long, chicken that was chewy and a dressing that was sour... yeah, sent that back as well. Left at that point and went elsewhere. Love this place. You live around this side this place is for you. They remember you and treat you good. The food has been so good compared to when it first opened years ago. All the bartenders are super friendly. Football nights get nuts. Get trivia in Tuesdays, karaoke on Thursdays and the live music on Fridays are great. Every manager has their own playlist and they all good. Sam's playlist is my favorite. The beer selection goes 36 deep in choices from all ova which includes some local brews. I have been coming to this establishment over the years considering that I've been in Hawaii since 2013. This place has always been great place to be especially in the evenings. I haven't been here in about 2 years(life happens) but it is still a very upbeat place. If you do plan to come late in the evening, keep in mind that the kitchen does shut down around 9 or 10. I really enjoy the alcohol selection and the environment. I am a continuing customer. I look forward to coming back and trying the pupu steak and the mushroom appetizers. So look forward to that update. I highly recommend the Skrewball and Howler head whiskey's. The skrewball had a peanut butter flavor and the Howler head is a banana flavor. I honestly am struggling to figure out which one I like better. Tonight I was served by Jordan and Brittany. Such and amazing duo of bartenders. Came here with friends since they wanted a change of scenery. Been here a handful times & was the first time for some of them. We decided to sit out on the lanai. The cool breeze and trees gave a sense that you're in the suburbs. The food, drinks and service did not disappoint. Rutilio was our server and he was awesome. He suggested some drinks that we should try. I was disappointed they didn't have Tokyo Mule, but he suggested a dirty Mule. That was a great suggestion and it was so good and easy to drink. What a crappy experience. Occasionally, we order take out from Taps and the food's normally fine. There have been fuck ups, but not too bad until today. We got there at 9pm to pick up the food we ordered. At the door the lady asked for my girlfriend's ID. I explained that we're only there to pick up our order, but she insisted to check her ID. Fine, I get it, you guys have policies. What's strange though the lady didn't ask for my ID and I got to walk to the bar. Discrimination? Whatever. We got our food and only one bag that's sealed with a staple was handed to us. We got home and checked our food, all we got was the arugula for our mushroom + brie. We called in, and they were passive aggressive about it. The lady said "we're sorry you didn't grab the box" even though there was no box given. My girlfriend returned it and they told her the box was in the back while trying to convince to keep it. People mess up all the time, but don't push the blame into your customers. read more

Initially I was a little worried about listening to live music, thinking it might be too crowded. I haven't listened to a live band in so long so I wasn't sure what to expect. Taps & Apps did a great job maintaining enough people where their place had enough people at tables but it wasn't over crowded. Their service was great very attentive waitstaff and friendly. Definitely all about the appetizers! We had local green salad, calamari strips, steak pupu with mushrooms and onions, Hapa Nachos, Margherita flatbread, their special fish & chips and cocktails and more cocktails. There were 6 of us so it was quite a variety of food. Definitely a fun Friday evening. The music was great. Played different genres so it catered to all different ages. It was great! read more

Taps & Apps is a sports bar so be prepared for the music to be loud. We went on a Saturday at opening and chose to sit outside. The music wasn't as loud but we went there to talk and catch up. The restaurant opened a couple of minutes late but it didn't bother us. No one other than our group of 4 was waiting. Their menu is quite extensive for a sports bar with brunch specials on weekends. We were told they had awesome burgers so reading the entire menu wasn't going to change my mind. I decided on a bacon cheeseburger and someone order a large basket of fries to share with the group. When the 3 burgers came, we waited for the last order of French toast to be delivered. During the wait, I thought my burger was gonna dry out. Not happy but it was my decision to wait. I try a fry and was blown away! The outside was crispy and inside was nice and fluffy. When I finally cut into my burger it was a perfect medium as ordered. I took a bite and it was sooooo flavorful. The bacon was crispy and the burger juices was flowing. It was one of the BEST burgers I've ever eaten. But I decided to eat only half so I could eat more fries! That night I microwave the burger for 40 seconds and it was still a good meal. Patty still juicy and just warm enough. My wife air fried the fries but it was our first attempt at using it. Didn't come close to what we had at lunch but the fries were still great during the 2 hours we were at the restaurant. Our server did a wonderful job of checking on us during our entire stay. Definitely will go back for another bacon cheeseburger and fries. read more
