It's hard to write about a place that you ended up leaving because you got pretty much ignored. A young girl waiting on the one table that was outside and all I saw was one guy at the bar. It was after the lunch hour and I didn't see anyone else. I stood where it said "wait for hostess", and was completely ignored as in not even acknowledged while she continued to talk to the table for sometime. A guy came riding up on his bicycle and left it out on the patio and although she knew I was standing there, (I eventually got a quick hello ) she talked to him and answered his questions first on where to sit etc. She stared at me without saying anything, and I said, can I sit outside? And then she asked how many and I said just myself. I got the menu and sat there and she never came back. I didn't see her inside, I didn't see her outside.... so I left. I would never go here again!! We popped in here for brunch! Bad food! Bad service! We sat towards the back of the restaurant at the end of the bar inside, sat next to a group who were on the right. They were loud obnoxious and swearing. We realized that half the group were actually workers there that had brought some friends etc. Staff on the clock engaged with them instead of asking them to tone it down a little. The food we ordered was spot on. The four stars is because we didn't really order anything from the burgers/ mains so it's a conservative rating. We ended up with fried Brussels sprouts, cheese board, shrimp skewers, & a mixed greens salad. I ended up dipping the pita bread into the crack filled side sauce that came with the Brussels sprouts. The beer my bestie got was the peachy one recommended with the skewers. I ordered a Napa Valley pinot grigio if I'm remembering correctly. 10/10 would recommend if you want a quality meal that feels filling and fresh. PS. Lolz at people complaining about "slow service"- you're obviously not from the chill parts of NorCal. I want to come back for brunch! $12 bottomless mimosas! Came for the first time last night, and happened upon friends so we joined their large group. The beer list can be overwhelming because there are soooo many options, from great local brewers, al the way to San Diego. My suggestion would be to narrow it down to 2-3 and ask for sample tasters of those to start if it's your first time or if you want to try some of the beers you are unfamiliar with. Also, use your server! Ours was super helpful in getting me to narrow down my selection. We tried the fried brussel sprouts and steak Caesar salad. Brussels were piping hot and went nicely with the accompanying aioli. Steak Caesar was also a win. Two medium (whole) romaine hearts were perfectly dressed with their yummy Caesar and an abundant amount of good quality parm. A handful of croutons finished off the plate. Will return! read more

We came here to meet friends it was our first time. We all sat at the bar on a Friday night. Hostess was very pleasant and friendly. But the people working behind the bar were not. I was actually starting to get offended with their lack of personality. When i ask for a drink menu and regular menu i don't expect it to be a chore. It's your job and im at a restaurant. They were also out of a lot of beer my friends wanted to try. So that sucked. I ordered the special "Beef Stew" it was very rich and gave me a stomach ache. Looked more like thick dog food. I would not recommend ordering that or putting it back on the menu as a special unless you get online and actually get a better recipe. With thick chunks of meat and veggies. One friend ordered the pulled pork. It had a great smokey flavor and a lot of meat. One suggestion would be to add coleslaw with that or as a side. With a wide variety of beers, bottomless mimosas for breakfast, and amazing appetizers, this is a place any Petaluman should frequent. We had the salt & pepper wings which are awesome. I am a sucker for chicken wings, and salt and pepper. Winning! We split the chuckwagon burger - bison, pork belly, hush puppy strings and mustard BBQ sauce (which I am now determined to learn how to make). Let me just say, Wow! Not too greasy, and you can taste every ingredient with every bite! For drinks I had the spiced chai cider made by Schilling. That in itself is dessert! I'm always one to order a beer but wow this cider was too good. The kind that is not too sweet, bubbly, a little bit of a bite, and the hint of spice. Yum. I will be back for this!! Terrible service . Sat at the bar for 30 minutes with the menu in front of me and never got an order in for food. No one bothered to ask. The regulars came and went while I sat, being ignored . Staff rather gossip with their back turned than make eye contact . Management would drop off orders and orders were not even correct for the people who were able to get them in. Gorgeous new location right by the water front of Petaluma. I ordered a root beer and it was delicious. My boyfriend ordered a German beer and he enjoyed it. We decided to try their "soft opening menu" of food. The taps' poutine was our first appetizer. Fries with cheese curds and a house made brown gravy. One bite of these fries and I was disgusted. The gravy was bland and the basket it come in was torn. And gravy on fries? Uhhh no. Next was the taps' "famous" wings, the buffalo sauce tasted like it was straight out of a jar. The wings itself were over cooked, poor quality and dowsed in the horrible sauce. Lastly we tried their 4505 hot dog. The dog came plain with no sides of relish or onion. I had to ask for sauerkraut and it came out dry as fuck and warm!!! Yuck. The bread it was on was super dry and nothing special. The fries tasted like they were frozen. Not at all impressed with the food. However, it is a great place to drink a beer and bounce for food. Service was good and helpful gentlemen. I'd like to see more women bartenders and I'm a woman myself, imagine how guys must feel. Haha read more

Super friendly staff and responsive to "can you put the slaw on the side" requests but the beer menu was hard to navigate by phone (no paper version) and I'd say prices are higher than other restaurants in the area. Food is fairly average and also a bit $$$. Great spot on the river. read more

My husband and I have been here several times. Yesterday we came and sat with our daughter and parents on the patio. The food was decent, but the service was disappointing. My husband and mother in law both ordered a Heroine IPA. Hers tasted flat, and his tasted off- like the lines hadn't been serviced in months. He brought it to our server's attention. She took the beer back to the bar, and returned with it, insisting that she tried it and it was fine, that it was likely his "wrecked palette" from drinking the Dogfish 120 before. Unacceptable behavior. I have been a server for nearly 20 years, and I would never behave this way. When everyone at the table insisted it was off, or incorrect, replace the damn beer. Don't try to convince us we are wrong, and certainly don't taste from it out of view and give it back. This interaction ruined our experience. read more

Decided to check this place out after going around town for a cousins birthday dinner, he likes beer so this seemed cool and was on the river. This was on a Monday night! Sadly it was the worst experience we received in a restaurant ever! Servers name was Mario. He came and took our drink order, then took out dinner and appetizer order.... he dropped the appetizer and that was the last we saw of him the rest of the night. Never came back with out dinner or even to check on other tables that were waiting to be cashed out. After finally talking to the host about our food, he said he would go look into it. Next thing we saw was him and the server running back and forth. He never put out dinner in. No supervisor or manager never came to talk to us about it. All he could say was "I'm sorry" I should of never paid for the appetizer or drinks we got, we sat there for at least 45min. read more

So I sat down for lunch with my wife a couple weeks ago and ordered a fried chicken sandwich and fries. My wife ordered chilaquiles,they had no salsa and one egg. My chicken sandwich was terrible. It had a thin piece of chicken that was over cooked and the bun was huge and the cheese was burnt. The ratios were off and the flavor was absent. I was so struck and speechless, so I couldn't complain in the moment. I left without saying anything and it took me two weeks just to get it out. It's been a long time since I had a meal that bad. The basin view was nice... I really hate writing a bad review of a restaurant as writing good ones are a pleasure. read more

I've always had amazing experiences at this place! The employees are so kind and always on top of things and they've got a beer list to die for. My boyfriend is obsessed with their wings! Their sauce is so good! I recently tried their veggie burger. I was very satisfied. It had strips of zucchini, avocado, and pesto! Delicious! The patty fell apart a little too easy eating the second half of it, but it was still so delicious, just turned it into finger food:) would highly recommend if you like good beer and good food! After parking the car in the downtown area, our noses led us to Taps. When it is busy, if you don't mind (we didn't), they have community table style seating outdoors. And in our true form, we ordered a few things to try some dishes out. The brussel sprouts were the most memorable. It was like we couldn't get enough. My next favorite was the root beer. It reminded me of how root beer is supposed to taste (flash from the past). My husband loved his burger and beer. I agree with the reviewer who mentioned bringing a sweatshirt with you. When the breeze picks up in the evening... brrrrr. But it's a wonderful location, right on the river, that will bring a smile to your face. read more

Where shall I start? Five of us dropped by Taps for a midweek dinner. We waited about ten minutes for a food server to even acknowledge our presence but I could not blame her as Taps looked understaffed and about 2/3 of the tables were occupied. Once we ordered, we waited another 15-20 minutes before the food arrived and only three of the orders were delivered. The food was good although my steak was well done even though I had asked for medium well. Ok, I'll live. We waited another 10 minutes before the last two orders arrived. The veggie burger was smothered in aioli even though we has asked for it on the side. The chicken sandwich was cooked too long and quite dry. The food server took the veggie burger back and about 5-7 minutes later returned with a replacement order where the meat and bun were black. Completely burnt as if they doused it in water to set it ablaze and get the order back out ASAP. How the waitress could not notice the smell is beyond me.The person who ordered it got up and left to find dinner elsewhere. The price of the veggie burger was deducted from the bill but there are obviously major issues in the kitchen regarding quality and timing of orders getting prepared. Although staffing levels in the front of the restaurant may be an issue, wait times were still unacceptable. Witnessing one waitress walking through the dining area looking at her phone was frustrating as we sat and waited for service. And I did not see the manager on the floor at all. Several months ago, I had the same experience with one of us finishing our lunch before the other order even arrived. Sorry, I will not be returning to Taps again. They have issues to sort out. There are many other options in town to spend my money. read more

I'm in the service industry, so I am the toughest critic. She was so patient, friendly, & accommodating! I'm not a beer girl, but she recommended a couple tasty ones (for a non beer lover), and brought me a couple samples. Her personality was infectious, she was attentive, & made great eye contact. One to start off with the fact I am a picky eater and their fried chicken sandwich was hands down the best chicken sandwich I have ever had in my life! The bread was great, portions were great, chicken was crispy and juicy with tons of flavor and the honey mustard paired perfectly with it. Their garlic fries were crispy and had tons of garlic as well, would definitely recommend. However, we also ordered the Brussel sprouts and we were less than pleased. The brussel sprouts were almost the size of my palm, they weren't cooked through, and had zero flavor. The aoli was also just mayo whipped up with a bit of garlic. Additionally, when we brought up the brussels being undercooked to our waiter, he didn't apologize or offer to fix the situation he just offered to refry our brussel sprouts after they had already been sitting out with us for over 15 minutes. After sending the brussel sprouts back we didn't get a visit from our server again for over 20 minutes. When we finally got our check we noticed our server had added a group rate gratuity to our check. There was only two of us. Overall, the food was good and beer options were great.
