Now that I've lived in PDX for a year and a half I feel like a very experienced burrito connoisseur. I no longer feel like I'm missing the stuff I loved in SF and LA. Yes, there were majestic favorites that set the standard for burritos but lately the PNW spots are def on the come up. There are awesome places in PDX..at least 3 I can think of....but why would I go there when I live so close to Taqueria 7 Estrellas??? I started with Burrito Loco and after a bit of a break, I went back to enjoy a Burrito Loco to really close out my January 2026. This is definitely the biggest of the best burrito options, but again , it's not stuffed w cheap filler and the al pastor, chicken and beef just set it off. For me it's 2 meals, and a great price at $13. What hits for me is the homemade feel. It really tastes like abuela made it w love. Nearby Sanchez won for best taqueria in greater PDX, and don't get me wrong , they deliver on their hype but honestly I prefer here. We stopped by for Dinner, we love this mexican restaurant, they have such a great variety of dishes, made fresh with a lot of love and care. The older couple works their daily with their family. This time we ordered the chilaquiles, huge portion with fried eggs, amazing dish, we also had a ginormous burrito with Chicken, served with beans and rice. We could only it just about half of our meals, we have plenty of leftovers. We also love the fresh chips and homemade salsa, its the best. I ordered the Al Pastor Gorditas. The meat was very well seasoned and juicy. The server (I think may be the owner), was super kind and welcoming. The service was great. The food was freshly made but it didn't take too long. I also ordered orchard, which also tasted delicious and fresh. The salsa roja and verde were both a great balance of spice and flavor. Juan has made this cozy restaurant a must because of the authenticity and scrumptious food! Everything is fresh, cooked to order with lot of choices. Juan served me outstanding enchiladas in molé sauce. My friends had tamales which were soft and filled with tons of chicken. Our plates were overflowing with rice and beans which were very good. Lots of take out orders kept the phone ringing off the hook. Next time I'm stopping here for sure. The prices were very oreasonable and none of us could eat the whole meal. I'm a Colorado native and thought I saw in some photos of 7 Estrellas food a sauce that's called "green chili" by the Mexicans in CO and NM. Turns out they don't have that here. Oh well. Service was a little sparse, but fine. Food is very large heapings on platters, a style I like but it's just very meat and potatoes style, not a very complex flavor profile. Three tacos with rice and beans and a two dollar bottle of water came to $19.50. I asked them to break it down for me and they said each taco was three dollars and then the rice and beans was seven dollars and the bottle of water was two dollars. a three taco plate obviously should not cost that much money. The other dish we ordered was the enchiladas for $12. That also came with rice and beans. As you can see in the photos, there was a cow heart valve/artery. We also asked them about that, but to them that was normal. I was with my Colombian friend. So language was not a problem. He and I have eaten at all the Mexican food restaurants together in this area. We prefer Sanchez. read more

This place is on the corner of an expansive strip mall and it is a diamond in the rough. This place is quite small on the inside but it is welcoming. The staff doesn't speak much English but they speak enough to get your order right. The food is amazing and inexpensive. I got combo number 5. It came with steak, chicken, and shrimp with sides of rice and beans. Everything tasted great and it was difficult to eat all that food. I will return. read more

This is a great little find! Very fresh well-prepared food. Warm chips with big bowls of salsa. I really enjoyed the tostada that came with chunks of avocado on it. Meats were generous. Crispy carnitas on the tostada and chicken in a crispy taco. The only thing that keeps it from 5 stars is I felt things were under seasoned, but some salt and hot sauce helps. Big portions for a decent price. There's tons of stuff on the menu ranging from classic Mexican food to Breakfast and American. Full list of breakfast items which I haven't tried. I actually want to try out the other items to see how they all are and I will update this. The Superburrito was great and my GF had the Torta. The Superburrito was great. Stuffed with meat and fresh cilantro. Rice was great and fluffy with tomato and onion mixed in. Both beans and rice were very hot. The burrito was warm although I owe that to the cilantro and cheese inside partially cooling it. Totra was big and filling as well. Worth the price. They forgot the Avacado and side of Sour Cream for my GF order which easily keeps this under a 5 star. Service was quick and took about 10-15 minutes to get our food. read more

Your GPS will probably fail you as the place is tucked in the back of a strip mall so it may be difficult to find. A thick menu of Mexican and American selections greats you as you enter. The absence of an ordering line was refreshing, I almost didn't know what to do. That is, unlike the norm in Portland - including almost every Mexican restaurant - here they bring a menu to your table. They add a unique twist to an already tasty torta by pouring a flavorful red sauce over it. While I'm fond of the taste it's a pain in the ass to eat; utensils are definitely required. It's just not fun cutting into a soggy sandwich. The Chile Relleno was larger than the usual, but had an "eggy" taste as there was too much batter. Although it included a decent amount of Mexican white cheese, the type they use has little taste. One of my favorite dishes was a far cry compared to that at Tortilleria Y Tiende de Leon on Glisan and NE 161st in Portland. Rice was not so good, beans...meh. The carnitas taco (probably all their tacos) was big. I somewhat judge a place on this succulent meat and here it's done right. And a great price too! While the flour tortillas were standard out of the plastic bag, the corn ones were made on site. Homemade flour tortillas are more labor intensive so that's why you rarely see them, but be sure to get them when you do. The condiment selection was average: red, green, Tapatio and Valentino. Service was friendly. This place is value, some good deals to be had. I was the only person in the place who didn't speak Spanish, which is awesome. In the mood for a Mexican Breakfast. Guys each ordered the enormous breakfast burrito with chorizo. They came with sour cream, lettuce, and avocado. Us ladies ordered Machca with chiliquilas, they were so good with scrambled eggs with grilled onions, red peppers and meat. Tons of food!!! One of the guys ate his entire burrito. The rest of us only ate half of our breakfasts and are looking forward to the leftovers for tomorrow's breakfast. read more

OMG... What a find! Best chili rellenos my husband and I have ever had... very authentic! HUGE portions, modest fees. A bit of a mom and Pop shop... absolutely NOT in a bad way. Been there 3x and if mama and grandma are in the kitchen cooking, and daughter is hosting... 5 star every time! Not high class fancy Dancy but you et 10x more than you pay for. Really, really slow service. I didn't come during the "lunch hour" either. It's 3:25 PM and I've been waiting nearly 20 minutes for a burrito. It's definitely a "call ahead and pick up" type of place. Very disorganized. I'm honestly not sure how they can stay in business. It's now been 30 minutes and after going up to the counter twice to inquire when my food will be ready, the lady looked at me and said, "What did you order?". After explaining that it's her responsibility to keep track of that stuff, she found my order. After finally receiving the food and taking it back to work, I saw the presentation: a blob of what I imagine is supposed to be guacamole and another blob of sour cream on top of shredded lettuce. The kicker was the melted cheese and tomatoes on top. Keep in mind this is a egg and chorizo burrito. How'd it taste? It was OK. The other three Mexican restaurants within a mile or two of them are HANDS DOWN better. It's a little out of the way and tucked into the backside of a strip mall. We came here for breakfast and got the Machaca plate and the Enormous Breakfast Burrito. They were both so big that 2 of us could only eat half of each and saved the rest for later. Total was around $18 before tip. The guy taking our order was super friendly. My only complaint is that they're not open early enough in the mornings on weekends but since they're a small business I can definitely understand not being able to staff for that. Call me a silly but I love their pescado dorado tacos. It's nothing fancy, cebolla and cilantro topped with his secret yummy red sauce. I will straight up drive to endulge in some. Do not come here in a rush!! I don't mind the food taking awhile, as everything is made to order (you can tell). But the service was absolutely terrible. We would wait for 10-15 minutes in between each interaction with the waiter (menus - 10-15 minute wait - chips and salsa - 10-15 minute wait - water - 10-15 minute wait - taking our orders - 10-15 minute wait - food then came in about 30 minutes). We were a group of 5 so perhaps larger than the "average" but theres no excuse for all the breaks in between each interaction. The food - this was great. I have no complaints. All of the plates were larger, food was hot and tasty. I always order chicken the first time I come to a new Mexican restaurant because I judge based on how dry it is and whether it is shredded or cubed (think Chipotle). This was shredded, juicy and tender. Two of my friends got the shrimpy fajitas which were super fresh and tasty. The tortillas were awesome too. My boyfriend got the flautas and they were huge, fried, and amazing. Oh, and not a big deal, but don't expect margaritas or coronas here :). Water and soda only. read more

Torta in Tigard! Yea! Hard to find, and I only stumbled onto it today out of a fluke errand I should never be running. Fate brought us together but the taqueria did the rest. If you're in the area and looking for good Mexican lunch cart style food, this is the place. Tacos ranging from $1.50(chicken/beef) to $1.75(pescado). They do a fantastic salsa and deliver it alongside fresh chips at the start of every meal. It's quite the starter, and puts most restaurant salsa in general to shame. Standard torta fare HOT Red and Green Mild sauces can be requested and they're good to slather over your plate. The HOT sauce seems more flavorful than hot to me, but I enjoy spice. In fact that goes for all Torta that I've tried in the NW. Torta is my new label for this genre of establishment. King Torta, Super Torta, all fantastic, you can put Siete Estrellas (seven stars) right up in the running. My attempt at a meal today was two tacos (Asada and Chorizo), half a side of beans and rice, a basket of chips and salsa, and a tall soft drink. All total, six dollars and change! Are you kidding!? This stuff is fantastic and it's so close I probably won't go to Chipotle very often, if ever again. If you like Mexican food, look them up and check out the picture of the plate I ate. The decor of this place looks like it was decorated with stuff from goodwill. Seemingly andom stuff on the walls with less than comfortable chairs. But who cares it's a Mexican restaurant. The food is what counts. Absolutely a solid place for Mexican food and the tacos were huge. Unfortunately no tripas tacos. However the lengua and cabeza were delicious. The pastor enchilada was really yummy, the guac was spot on. The rice was a little dry but I have had much worse. The beans were pretty standard fare. But the pastor and the enchilada sauce really made the meal. With the price of the meal as well as the speed it just pushed this place over to 4 stars. Went here last night and was not disappointed. It is a lesser known, family owned version of La Fuente, but I'd rather give me business to these people. It is much less crowded and serves delicious food. There is definitely room for improvement in the cleanliness of this place but the food makes that easy to overlook. Went here for it was close to a friends house. This is what I call a "Cheap and easy" Mexican place. Old school. I got a combo plate which need up being way too much food for me. I got an order to go but had to wait a long long time to get it, I'd say at least 20-25 min. I ate the tostada and the taco but should have known the fish taco was fried.
