We were extremely disappointed with our experience with Casa Lola during our son's wedding. Several things went wrong on what should have been a very special and memorable day. The food arrived late, and, most importantly, the food that was delivered was completely wrong from what we had ordered. This was not a minor mistake or a small substitution--the food provided was not the food we had specifically arranged for our guests. On top of that, there were no heating trays provided, so there was no way to keep the food warm as expected. These issues created additional stress and disappointment on a day when we should have been able to focus on celebrating our son and his new wife. What made the situation even more disappointing was what happened afterward. We were promised a refund because of the problems we experienced. We have followed up several times by email, phone calls and text, but the refund was never received. We have also been unable to get a response from the owner or the owner's daughter, Karla. OVERALL Very few Mexican food eateries can go from a taco truck with authentic and exquisit food, to a full-fledged restaurant that maintains the food quality, service and provides a great ambience. Casa Lola Kitchen de Mexico still has work to do with their food and service, considering the high price point. FOOD Great presentation! Kudos for using the blue corn tortillas, hopefully other restaurants took advantage of it! My recommendation is the Birria and Rajas tacos ($5 each). The Steak and Pastor tacos ($5 each) were dissapointing to me... I consider these staples of any Mexican restaurant! Also, pricey for tacos! :) The totopos (Chips) seemed very lonely, either because they had only pico de gallo and no salsas nor refried beans to go with them or because they were a bit dull. The enchiladas ($18) with chicken (Add $3) and the tees leches cake were OK. The arroz con leche ($6) was just too watery. SERVICE Food didn't take a very long time (About 15 minutes) but it would have been nice to not have to ask for more water a couple of times when there are only 2 tables occupied. They seem understaffed. AMBIENCE Loved the place! Great decor with funny callouts that probaly only some people of certain age or background can understand, like the copy of The Beetles' "Sgt. Went through drive-thru when this old lady took my order with a rude attitude. That's fine, but I get my receipt and she paid her self 20% tip without my consent. I received my food after waiting 30 minutes, I asked her to remove it and she began to use the excuse she didn't know how to, she rolled her eyes and closed the window to get a manager or something, she took it off then the "manager" began to lecture me to tip my server? We dropped in on a Saturday around lunch time. It wasn't too busy, but it wasn't dead either. It worked out well since they were still serving off the brunch menu as well as the regular menu so everyone got to order whatever they were in the mood for. I'm surprised none of the reviews mention the coffee here because it's served in a French Press & it's such a good blend that you don't need cream or sugar. We asked about it and were told it's Thornton coffee. The chips and salsa were so good we couldn't stop eating them. The portions are generous and the food is not bad either. Came here on a Saturday night and they seated us quickly. We had our own private space. The chips and salsa and water was brought out quickly to us. The chips were warm, crisp, and perfectly salted. The salsa is more like pico but still flavorful. Our waiter checked on us and told us what they most popular items were. I settled on the Al pastor tacos and my husband ordered the pork carnitas. After our group ordered our food, it took about 50 minutes to arrive. We were never checked on after we ordered and weren't given an apology when the food arrived despite waiting about an hour. The Al pastor tacos were the best thing. The pork was very tender and the ingredients were fresh. The pork carnitas were good as well but my husband wish he would have ordered the Al pastor because there wasn't a ton of flavor. My brother had the fish tacos and they were not hot (temperature wise) and lacked a lot of flavor and were bland. Overall, it was a good experience for me but not really everyone else in our group. Been to this one a few times. Black beans are old tasting and mushy and liquidy, rice is boring and bland and like it was made earlier in the day and has been sitting in a rice cooker all day., Chicken was dry. Husband's burrito was just okay too, again the meat was dry and old tasting. The one in Cornelius was soooo much better but sadly they decided to make that a party place instead of a restaurant. One of the worst service I've had in a while. When we first got there, we were sat inside where there was no air conditioning. We asked to be moved outside, which was already our first mistake, as moving outside caused us to basically be ignored for most of the time being there. With only three of us there to start, and more showing up for our party of 7, no one received any drinks until after almost 30 minutes of being sat. Salsa and chips were left empty for a while, and water was only refilled upon asking another server. We were there from 5:40 until almost 7:40, and were only checked on to either take an order, take clean plates, or give a check. Not once were we asked if everything was okay, or if we were celebrating anything (we were in fact celebrating a birthday, which comes up later.) Once we finally got to the checks, it took a solid 15 minutes to even finish being cashed out, due to the server overcharging another patron and him being frustrated with her at the POS system. Upon inspection, the total amount of filled tables, both inside and outside of the restaurant, was 10. With no more than 3 people at each table. There was no sense of urgency, no care for the amount of time spent by people, or the amount of money being spent at this establishment. Most of our party chose to pay on the QR code provided by our receipts, however one of our party needed to pay by card, which took another 10 minutes. As he was cashing out, she decided to then tell this person "Happy Birthday." This individual's birthday is on Monday, and is NOT the person whose birthday we actually were celebrating, which happens to be today. This is extremely ironic in that the server did check our ID after ordering drinks, and would have seen the date being today and made no mention. As we were finally leaving, our server came out and asked my mother if we had paid, since she hadn't seen any payment. Are you serious? Don't include QR codes to pay at the table if you don't even remember that can happen, and then accuse a table of dining and dashing. Hire competent people in the future, as your current service standards will continue to turn business away, and bankruptcy will be imminent. read more

I'm struggling with the stars, because the food really isn't that good and it is a restaurant, so the food should be what they do best. But, I like everything else about the place, so it's tough to rate. We went on a Friday night, the service was great! I don't think I could ask for anything more. The restaurant is comfortable and cozy inside, love the decor, it feels great inside even if the outside is not great. We ordered drinks and love that they have Mexican beer on tap and the passion fruit margarita was great. Then you get your food. I had the Lola Bowl and it looks nice, presentation is great, it has all the things I love in it, but it's just bland. As I was eating I tried to figure out what it's missing and the only thing I could think is that the meat doesn't have enough seasoning. I chose pork carnitas and when you put it in a bowl with white rice, beans, avocado, lettuce, all things with really mild flavor, the meat just didn't have enough flavor to carry the dish. I wanted to love it, but the food just isn't quite right and they have been open for many years, so I expect these are the recipes they are sticking with. I arrived at the time of my reservation, noon. The restaurant was completely empty. I called "Hello" several times and no one came out. I picked a table and sat down. After about 15 - 20 minutes, a young inexperienced girl came to the table. She asked me how many, I said two. She did not pick up empty dishes or the menus after we ordered. we had to ask her to take them away. My appetizer was a small bowl of guacamole costing $16. I ordered a steak that was rather small for $24. So, my meal cost $40 for lunch, a little expensive. California prices in Oregon. First time coming here, great first impression for us. They had the tables spaced appropriately for the governors current phase. Busy but not crowded with outside seating available. The chips and salsa are different than other places. Thicker crunchy chips with a chunky and kind of watery pico. We ordered the choriqueso as an appetizer- super cheesy and enough Chorizo to add flavor. I had a carnitas burrito. I would say an elevated Chipotle or Qdoba for comparison. Their green sauce was unique and delicious. Crema and cheese topped it. Really good. The chicken taquitos were a table favorite. Just enough heat for flavor but not to much. 2 got the Lola Bowl with chicken. Both liked it. I didn't try. To full! Good place- authentic Mexican food. I'd give it three stars if we would go back. But since we're probably not going to return, it's two stars. The furniture and decor needs replacing. The seats are stained, the ends of the tables are chipped. It's getting dated. The outside near entrance needs some major repair. If they can't keep the outer appearance looking nice, what does the hidden areas look like? When we walked in, there was a guy at the bar; he was on a laptop and looked like he was a manager or owner. He looked at us and said nothing. Throughout our stay there, he had no interaction with the staff like he was a customer. The chips and pico were real good. I had the carnitas with corn tortillas. The pork was tasty but dry, not crispy, not tender. More like leftover pulled pork. It didn't seem fresh. Huge chunk of fat in the bowl which is a turn off. The tortillas were in an old kitchen mit style warmer that was, let's say past it's prime. I wouldn't even use it in my house. My daughter had the Lola Bowl with chicken. The chicken was like de-boned whole chunks of the chicken with the skin just chopped up and put in the bowl, like a burrito bowl. The chicken was tough and chewy. Then there was a huge chunk of something. Not good. My wife had the chicken burrito, dry chicken and lacked flavor. Honestly, Taco Time is better. My other daughter had the vegetarian taquitos. Basically, an over cooked potato fry in a flour tortilla and deep fried. No flavor and the consistency of wet dust. Old bruised avocado as well. I've been here twice in the last week. I love their happy hour. Their jimaca y pepino was amazing! We just tried it for the first time. Flavorful and crisp. We also got the tongs tacos and quacamole. We really love this place and happy they have made it through the shut down for Covid-19. The is amazing here they take Mexican food up a notch in quality and presentation. The atmosphere especially in the larger location is very open, warm and inviting. While it is a little more money to eat here you can't beat the quality for the price. I really enjoy the Burrito Ahogado with carnitas, it is for sure my menu favorite. It is not small, the flavors just melt in you mouth when combined with the sauce. The Pollo Relleno is a stuffed chicken breast, think another take on Cordon Bleu. My wife really enjoyed this last time, I think it is new on the menu. The have several margaritas with checking out, yeah why not right? The service every time has been great. Always friendly and checking in with you. Hard to see smiles through a face mask lately but you can tell they enjoy what they do. They are doing a great job to handle the virus outbreak while providing just wonderful food at the same time. First visit to Lola, in area for business, stopping for lunch but without smaller lunch menu, its dinner pricing all day, so I can see a little steep for many, and families for a casual outing. We split $14 Burrito Ahogado smothered in tart tomatillo pork chile (little bits pork vs chunks advertised) but Steak was plentiful, and filled with black beans and white rice. No bottled sauces, I asked for a red sauce and loved their chipotle salsa, slightly chunky with charred black bits, quite spicy and definitely beats the bottled! Thick cut house tortilla chips and pico style salsa that was a tad too tart are gratis with the water. Crux IPA on draft was a nice leap from the usual Mexi-Bud offerings in most Mexican restaurants. Wish they would make HHr available from opening to 6pm since there is no lunch menu, or pair main menu down, to make it a more, every day affordable casual stop vs higher end, have to think about it spot. But real stainless cutlery, all house sauces and chips, with nice decor account for something! read more

This place has an outdoor area and inside, a small bar area. For appetizer we ordered the chorizueso fundido, it was delicious good amount of cheese, I also ate it with my main dish for more flavor. The rest of the fam ordered the burrito ahogado, that came with the green sauce covering the burrito, they loved it. I ordered the alambres just cause I was curious as to what it was, I liked it, it was steak and veggies covered in cheese with some sauces on the side and fresh tortillas. Had a big hankering for tacos yesterday. Not tacos like Taco Bell, REAL TACOS, like Mexico City tacos. I remembered that Casa Lola moved into a bigger space (in the same location) sometime back and had a drive thru window. And since we are not dining in anywhere yet, it was a happy solution. Casa Lola also offers no-contact delivery for a fee and through the various food delivery services. Their website makes it easy peasy to order and pay online. Choose your food, put it in your cart, choose your pick up time, pay with plastic, then drive up to the window and ta-da, your food is handed to you perfectly packaged and ready to eat at home (or wherever you want to eat it.) My husband and I decided to share the Pescado Tacos ($15): three grilled mahi mahi with cabbage & mango pico de gallo and the Tacos Callejero ($14): three carnitas pork finished with a slice of lime & radish. We didn't order the rice and beans but got them anyway. We didn't order any chips and salsa either but they are complimentary so we got that too. We did order a large container of pico de gallo ($5) because we love the stuff and Casa Lola makes THE BEST and we got a big bag of house made tortilla chips to go along with it -also something we did not order- but hey, I love surprises and appreciated it. Everything was fresh, delicious and still hot when we got it all home. Casa Lola will definitely be on our rotation list of places to pick up lunch or dinner during COVID.
