Amazing time for my wife's birthday. We sat out in the patio area. They allowed me to pull several tables together for our party. We had 20 adults and a few children in our group. The place was very alive, mostly due to the World Cup on every screen. But some how we managed to arrive at the perfect time to set up. Our servers, were exceptional. They kept our drinks filled and even a manager checked on us a few times. The food was great. Everything came out at about the same time. I visited with a group and had a mixed experience. The service was on the slow side. We were served chips and salsa while waiting, but it would have been nice if our water had arrived sooner since the chips definitely made us thirsty. The creamy dipping sauce that came with the chips was actually very good. I ordered the chicken fajita taco salad. The portion was enormous, so you'll definitely get your money's worth. The chicken was flavorful, but I wasn't a fan of the Italian dressing--it tasted like it had too much oregano or another strong herb, which overpowered the salad. It also came with a side of guacamole, but the large amount of chopped onions and cilantro just wasn't to my taste. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but it wasn't one I'd repeat. Came here today on our endless quest for a perfect brunch buffet. This place is huge. There is plenty of parking, just fyi. We walked past the bar to the hostess area and requested a high-top. We were quickly seated and greeted by our waiter. He was very attentive. We opted for the brunch buffet, it's about $26 pp. They have a lot of food to choose from: Cold: Fresh Fruit Station: Omelette, Waffle, Pancakes, French Toast Hot: Menudo, Tamales, Enchiladas, Barbacoa, chicken and beef fajitas, bacon, sausage, biscuits, eggs, empanadas, breakfast potatoes, fresh tortillas, etc. My best bite was the empanadas and hubby liked the Barbacoa. It used to feel dark and a dingy, but now the space is open, bright, and much easier (& friendlier) to navigate. I came for a party in one of the private rooms. If you're ever considering throwing an event, do it! The room had multiple TVs, a mic setup, and easy access to the bathrooms and bar, which worked well for the group. We did a fajita buffet with two attendants serving, and the food was solid--exactly what I've been missing in Austin! The tortillas were fresh and the fajita meats were flavorful. Not sure if there have just been a lot of renovations since the last time I've been here, but La Brisa has definitely become a must-go place if you're looking for good food with a great atmosphere. Briefly, the last time I came here was almost about 10 years ago. Back then I just remember it as being like any other tex-mex restaurant in terms of the general vibe and the quality of food. They did have a dedicated catering space for weddings and other large events which I thought was unique. However, this time, that has almost completely change. All of what I had mentioned remains. Though now there's also a large outdoor space in the back that is absolutely perfect for large events, especially game days of any sort. Words don't do it justice. There's plenty of seating, accessible bar, easy QR ordering, and plenty of TV screens and projectors that show whichever game you're there for. I came here to catch up with some friends. Like I said, it was a great atmosphere. We sat near a screen that was showing the Astros game. No problem at all finding seating. I believe we got there around 6-7 when the game had already began and there were no issues at all. Ordering through the QR code was straightfoward. I believe you can also order alcohol there as well. If not, then it's easy to just go to the bar nearby. Last thing I want to note - self-serve ice cream. Yes, you heard me right. Inside. Next to the catering area is self-service ice cream. And it's good stuff. Not any of that icy self-serve you get at some buffets. It's creamy and delicious. We camped there for two cones worth of ice cream each. Perfect way to end the night. This evening was the first time I've been to La Brisa and I was pleased with it for several reasons. First, I arrived with my elderly father who is a proud Marine and Vietnam War veteran. As such, he was wearing a Marine Corps Aviator polo and cap. At least three employees made a point to thank my father for his service, and that was really special for him. The food is good and the portions are huge with very reasonable prices. Finally, our server, Jayden, was patient with my father, competent, and attentive without being overbearing. As we sat down we got complimentary chips with salsa roja and verde, chips were store bought and the salsas were ok, the red one tasted fresh and spicy, and the green was not my favorite, it lacked flavor. The menu is more on the American side. Look, if you're looking for a sports bar to hang out with your friends, and have some tacos or share fajitas with this is your spot. Now if you come looking for an authentic Mexican culinary experience this is not the place. We ordered just the quesabirria tacos because we were super hungry, but nothing else really caught our attention. We are from GA so this was not the mexican food we expected. It was so much better! Side note: there is always hot sauce on the tables in Mexican restaurants in Georgia. It must be needed for flavor. No table had hot sauce at La Brista because they did not need it. Our appetizer came with a ranch dressing with jalapeños and i was afraid it would be too hot. It wasn't - but it was delicious! There was a subtle mix of flavors which couldn't be beat. A Friday night crowd meant a wait.. be prepared. There is inside dining with a/c and less noise and outside, bar seating which was very loud. Dogs on a leash welcome. We had Southwest Eggrolls with the ranch/jalapeño dip. I can't describe the flavors but i have never had anything so good. 8 pieces ($12.79) and it could have been my dinner. My husband ordered flautas con questo ($13.49) with mexican rice and black beans. He particularlly liked the black beans and the subtle flavors of onion and green peppers. Very generous serving of guacamole. I had the Acapulco platter ($15.49) ... a taco, chicken fajita enchilada, tamale, chili con questo puff and guacamole. They don't have corn tamales with this much flavor in Atlanta! Our server, Neil, was attentive without being intrusive. We go there every year for my sister-in-law's birthday. But we skipped last year for a different event. They have completely remodeled since I've been there. They have an awesome outdoor seating area that's huge. Plus a full-size bar out there with tons of televisions for all the sports games. And then there's even a little 21 and up area as well. If we lived closer, it would probably be somewhere we frequent when we're in the mood for some drinks and chips/queso. My son always orders queso, of course he was happy with it, I sadly cannot eat it anymore but I did taste it and wish I could finish it! I ordered the chicken fajita Tex-Mex bowl and it was amazing. I couldn't stop eating it.!!! not very many places do the bowls, it's usually taco salad or fajitas. There was a lot going on, but we did not feel neglected. I ordered the Stuffed Chicken with Shrimp. It was a lot of food, which is a good thing for those who come to La Brisa with an appetite. Cheesy and delicious; I enjoyed it. This place caters to the sports crowd. "Brisa" means breeze in English, but unlike an actual breeze, the restaurant isn't refreshing on the tastebuds. I went here today looking to partake in the breakfast/brunch buffet. First off, props for a nice setup that doesn't cause a human traffic jam. But that's all the buffet had going for it. The menudo and the barbacoa were a couple of items I was eager to try. My anticipation was all for naught as the menudo lacked the spicy punch it's famous for and the barbacoa tasted like it was cooked in a crockpot i.e. the non-traditional way. I knew the three stars the eatery garnered were justified when I had the tamales. To be sure my bad culinary experience was just a fluke, I dug into the chicken tamales first. *Shakes head disapprovingly* No flavor whatsoever. Not even a smidgen of spice. That was when I decided to eschew the pork tamales I got altogether and asked for the check. On the Uber ride home, my driver said that there's a La Brisa near where she lives.
