I was raised in Mexicali and I been living in Az for over 15 yrs and I can say I have never tasted anyplace that their tacos as exactly Chicali style tacos. Just like back home just like street tacos from Mexicali. No combo meals no burritos only tacos . And their aguas frescas Horchata & Jamaica super good not to sweet is just perfect and what's even better no other place does this is FREE refills. I was shy to ask for a 3rd refill but they were super friendly and they did it. What can I say about the tacos they were great asada had flavor and really good I had to get a second order cause that's how good they were. Had a quesadilla con carne asada, and that was delicious. I normally never get a quesadilla any other place cause I'm not a fan of quesadillas or how they make it but here I LOVE it. I had to get a second one as well cause it tasted just like how they make it in Mexicali. The tripas super crunchy and delicious as well my husband couldn't resist to get a second order as well. We have never been to a taco place that they make it crispy and that it actually has flavored. They even have a little cart that has guacamole, salsas (which are really good the darker one is spicy but delicious) onions, cabbage, cilantro, limes, radish for your tacos is self serving. So you put what you want in your tacos. Staff super friendly and ready to help you, the inside seating super clean and they even had seating outside just like back home. Music wasn't to loud just right but I did feel like I was in Mexicali for a moment. I don't get paid or anything I'm just a real person who will give you the honest truth about my experience. We will definitely go back but next time I will bring my mom and my Tia who are born and raised in Mexicali to get their honest opinion. Street Tacos anyone? Damn this place has now made it on my places to return when travel throughout this country for work. Tripa tacos, perfectly cooked and to be honest I should've gotten more. Pastor tacos, not bad in my opinion, I've had better but they were still pretty good. Sincronizada, just like a quesadilla but this one I had was mixito. Packed with flavor and when I return I'll be sure to get it again. Chicali beans, omg these are a must try! Absolutely delicious food here, and great friendly service! We were headed to the Amphitheater for a concert and wanted to get tacos nearby. This was a fantastic find and we'll definitely be back. The quesadilla tacos were our favorite. All the salsa's had a good kick and appreciated the salsa/topping bar being fresh and clean. As always, I was starving and ready to eat. I went to Yelp, my buddy and everybody recommended this place five stars. It should be 10 stars. It's so clean and the gentleman cooking. The food is so. Love with his work you can just tell that he's doing it not because he has to but because he wants to and he's taking care of the meat and cooking it properly not over cooking it or under cooking it just right and the people that take your order are just so nice and friendly and helpful. It's your first time they'll help you and let you know what's good excellent drinks they serve the drinks so everything's clean. It's not all trashed cause customers have been trashing yet it's nice and clean and neat. The meat had such great flavor, salsas where delicious and just the right amount of spice. cucumbers with lime are always a must. And we also did an order of the onions/chilis and beans. Beans were fresh and had just the right amount of bacon flavor. They salt the onions and top them with lime - could have eaten the entire plate myself lol I was so excited to try it and enjoy that I did not take a picture the food - but the establishment itself was extremely clean and well taken care of. Not a bad taco spot. 5 Stars - the corn tortillas were so delicious and didn't fall apart. They added another layer of flavor to the tacos which I have not found to be the case. The Cebollas (onions) were absolutely amazing. A nice char and wonderful flavor (with a hint of either lemon or lime?) These are a must with your order. 3 Stars - the pastor had good flavor. The asada was a little lacking in flavor for me. Both were just okay, nothing special. I was really hoping for a char on both. I think that would take these to another level. Most of the salsas were underwhelming but the one pictured had a nice roasted/smoked flavor to it. Chicali beans were also good, unique, with good flavor again nothing out of this world. The salsa bar is stacked with options. The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. The tacos and beans were just okay. The tacos may even be a little below average, specifically the asada. I had high hopes for Taquería Chicali based on the Yelp ratings, but it just didn't do it for me. I tried the tripa, al pastor, and carne asada tacos. The tripa was too chewy and over-fried, the pastor wasn't from the trompo (and lost a lot of its flavor because of it), and the asada lacked that smoky grilled taste I was hoping for. One of their salsas seemed like it was going for a roasted style, but something about the flavor just didn't click. On the bright side, the Mexican Coke was perfectly cold and refreshing. Service was fast and the vibe was casual, but the smoky air inside made it a bit uncomfortable. Might be a hit for others, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to return. read more

I've been dying to try out Taqueria Chicali ever since I found them on Instagram! We stopped in today, and my husband and I both really enjoyed the food. We ordered the pastor and asada vampiros, and they were delicious. We also ordered the Chicali beans, which are pinto beans with pastor and cheese. They were good, but the beans seem a bit watery. They also have a condiment cart with salsas, lime, cucumbers, and all the taco fixings. The staff were very friendly, and the place had a chill vibe. The indoor space is pretty small, with only three tables and a wrap-around bar, but luckily they also have a large outdoor patio. We will definitely be back!! read more

My family and I wanted a little late night snack after walking around west gate. I jumped on Yelp and this taco place popped up. It Looked good and it wasn't far from west gate. I'm so glad we came here! The tacos were amazing. Right from the first bite, you could tell the meat quality was good. The flavor of the meat was nice. These tacos weren't greasy. They also ask if you want the tacos on corn or flour tortillas. We got both. And the flour tortillas taste homemade. We loved it. We also got corn too. We got that the taco's and Sincronizada Carne asada and the mixto which is carne asada and Al pastor mix. That was a total game changer. It was our favorite. They have a full salsa bar. And the grilled green onions and jalapeño were my favorite too. If you're craving tacos, come here! You won't be disappointed. Hidden gem! What used to be a gas station has became our favorite taco shop. Angus beef cooked with just salt. So simple but so delicious! Salsa bar is complete with cucumbers and radish. Saw the reviews for this place and gave it a try. First ordered a quesadilla and a side of beans. Went back and ordered more food! Super friendly staff who took the time to explain to us what some of the items were. The condiment bar is a big sell for me getting to choose a variety of sauces and ways to flavor my tacos is a hit. I saw them clean it twice while we were there and it wasn't a super busy time. We ate outside it is near the road so not the best for ambience. The worker came out and asked if we needed anything and says she hoped to see us again. And this isn't a sit down restaurant. Simple tacos and simple ingredients packed with flavor. The taco al pastor was okay at best, tasted more like chorizo, the taco carne asada was somehow dry and oily. The sincronizada (mixed) was a combination of a chorizo flavor with oily carne and cheese. The horchata tasted like any from any 'mexican' fast food restaurant so little less than okay. All that (3 items plus drink) was $33. Decent food at best for $33. The cashier was nice and the cooks were fine for what they were given. Wished the meats didn't taste so old though. read more
