It was about a 7 minute drive and the tacos looked good. As the "fuel reserve" dash message lights up, I'm turning into the Parking lot. Is Taylor swift signing autographs? Is Dwayne Johnson giving push up tutorials? Why is there a line around the block? Sweet mother of Moses, it was for taqueria! I park....after an 8-point turn in the tight compact marked parking spaces. And make my way up to this tokyo central station line of people. I got in line, guessing I was lucky number 467. Had a minute to mull over the menu. The cream sauce stood out to me. "Lemon cream" on an enchilada? Was this Paris? The creativity was already jumping out at me. After about 30 minutes in line, I was at the gates of heaven. "What would you like?" The nice lady at the front said. I kinda panicked...lot of pressure with all the people behind me. "Two chicken enchiladas with lemon cream sauce.....uhhhh...and a house margarita on the rocks please" After a couple of lackluster levels of candy crush, my food was delivered. It looked good, ascetically at least. I dig in and hit that chicken and viscous lemon cream sauce. WHAT? Wtf? It was like Ghandi resurrected himself and fed me enlightenment in a Tex-mex version. It felt like Jack was allowed on Rose's floating door and he survived at the end of Titanic. It was like Biden finished a sentence. It was like Leo won an Oscar for Wolf of Wall Street and didn't have to wait for a pity award for The Revenant. What was I doing? Why did I wait so long. Some of the reviews commented on not being able to sit down before ordering or the table service not being attentive. But if you've been to a Taq before, this is how they run. I've been to Cheshire bridge taq, Howell mill taq, Nashville taq, Decatur taq, and now Brookhaven taq. All 5/5 stars. I can guarantee you that once you place your order, there will be a table ready for you. Trust the process. They know what they're doing. Also, I bet that you'll have your food delivered to your table within 5-10 minutes of sitting down. The food is always reliable too. Always impressed by their tacos. They come out quickly and are delicious. The specials add a bit of variety to the otherwise small menu. However you can not make any changes to a special taco. You can make modifications to a normal taco, ie taning things off of it to make it simpler. Expect to wait in line for maybe 30 minutes even on a week night but like I said, once you sit, the food comes out quite quickly. It seems they don't always have frozen margaritas. From what I can tell, only on the weekends? Also make sure to get a cup for water when you order and fill it up yourself before you sit down. FYI- dogs are not allowed on the outdoor patio. 3/5 stars for that consistently delicious tacos but not rating it higher due to the long waits in line and lack of modifications. read more

This location is terrible and frankly the entire chain is so overrated. We went today the second they opened with a baby - of course no high chairs - what? So, being the only tex mex place in town actively turning away families, my wife was berated by I assume manager for sitting at a table while I ordered with the baby in a stroller. She was told to leave the table for other customers - there was NO ONE THERE.. We left. As did a few other families in line. This is a great restaurant for quick, fair priced food and an easy place to alone or with a group. If alone, I sit at the food bar and always get a personal wait person except one guy they should fire. The tocos come out very fast and are always good. They have a toco salad with brisket or chicken which is very good that is not on the menu. This place is definitely my favorite taco restaurant ever which I go to about once every week or two! I've had about every taco on the menu! My favorites are the Carnita and the Fried Chicken Tacos. The Fried Chicken Tacos have a Habanero Mayo but not spicy (and this is coming from someone who doesn't particularly eat spicy food), tomatoes, lettuce in a flour tortilla. It's the most basic taco on the menu which is good for folks of all ages. The have weekly specials as well so there's always something new on the menu. My favorite special taco is the Carnita and Mushroom. It melts in your mouth! Appetizers: The Queso is very good but a little spicy depending on what day you go and how many jalapenos they decide to put in that day. The Guacamole is amazing though not enough Guac for the entire basket of chips but extremely worth it. The Shrimp Corn Chowder is out of this world good! It definitely has a kick and I'd definitely recommend it! Enchiladas are very good as well! You can get beef, chicken, or cheese in a beef chili sauce, lime cream sauce in a corn tortilla! The Margaritas are basic frozen or on the rocks original. Prices are reasonable for lunch or dinner! The lines are always long but move very fast and totally worth the wait! I am from Mexico and I love their tacos and all of the food on their menu. However, it really bothers me that they don't have one single chair for babies. No. The manager disrespectfully and illegally interrogated my sister about what disability she had (ILLEGALLY!!!!!!!!!!). Thank God for the years of counseling and medication because if the situation would had been even a year ago, my sister would have COMPLETELY shut off. I love it! What is not to like about Taq Del Sol. My first time going to this chain was in Athens with my gf and I have never been disappointed by it. I ordered the beef and Memphis tacos. I like the steak a little more since its juicer. Unlike the Athens location, the steak does not drip with water which kind of disgusted me but this place did not let me down. I also got the Mexican rice which tasted like Popeyes' Cajun rice. It was delicious. I got an IPA a night at the ponce craft beer. It was very strong and bitter. I like Creature Comfort more. Gf got a fried chicken and fish taco. Due to unknown reason, she got a horrible stomach ache from the fish taco. She also enjoyed her margarita. We had a blast! Taqueria del sol is now open for business in the newly opened Peachtree Station Plaza (where the new Whole Foods is expected to open). Saw a crowd of people enjoying the patio area the other day and googled to confirm they were open. Ordering process is the same as other locations, order first and find your seating. Their menu seems to be exact same as all other locations as well. I wasn't familiar with one of the newly added tacos, Hogs#2, which uses Fox Bros brisket and has more of a peppery smoky flavor. To be honest, tacos are not my favorite here so I opted to get the enchiladas today and I was impressed! Got cheese and beef brisket enchiladas with green chili sauce over it. The green sauce has a nice kick and great flavor to it. Cheese and beef brisket was perfectly cheesy and tender! If you grab chips, its a perfect way to enjoy the extra green chili sauce. Only drawback that I see for us is the 5% additional charge for pick up orders but other than that taco veloz now has competition for us when we crave Mexican food. read more

Taqueria Del Sol is an American Taco chain. They have several locations, and this is the Brookhave location. First of all the parking is a nightmare. This shopping center has a million popular business, but not many parking spaces. It was hard finding a parking space in the middle of a busy lunch hour. But this is a trend these days with new shopping centers. They try to cram in as much businesses as they can without thinking about parking. Like the other locations, Taqueria Del Sol does the "hot night club" method of showing off a long line. When you arrive, you have to wait in line to order. Because of the popularity, and because they put the cashier in front of the door, the line will be long and out the door. Don't worry though. In most cases, the lines do go fast. But they make it seem like they're the hot new taqueria in town. Once you finish ordering, the restaurant itself is large and spacious. It looks like they can fit a ton of people. For the most part, you don't have to worry about the line. It goes fast, and you'll be able to find some place to sit. The tacos are Americanized soft tacos. It's flour tortilla with unique ingredients. As long as they're not the crappy hard tacos with lettuce and tomatoes, I'm good. For a fully grown man, I would suggest 3-4 tacos. I ate 5 once, and it was too much. The tacos are good. Each taco is slightly different. I'm not sure which is my favorite, but they're all good. You can't go wrong with any. Besides tacos, they have enchiladas and soups. The flavors are pretty Tex-Mex. If you like Tex Mex, this is a good place to go. They also have free oranges. Be careful, some of them might be rotten. I' not sure if this location has rotten oranges, and I don't know how many times they rotate them. But I have experienced those in other locations. read more

I've been to Taqueria Del Sol a number of times, both for lunch and dinner. There is usually a line; however it's always moved pretty quickly. You have to wait in line and order food before snagging a table. They are pretty firm in this rule, which I can understand because when people get food with no table to eat at that's a problem. One trick I've tried when dining with just my husband - you can walk up to the bar and ask to sit there to eat and potentially skip the line (unless there is a wait to sit at the bar). I usually order the house margarita with salt, and if I'm with several people having the same I'll order a pitcher. My go to meal is usually one pork enchilada with the pork green chili sauce. I go back and forth between ordering one or two, but I find if the table has ordered chips and salsa, queso or guac, you can really order just one and it's the perfect amount of food. I'd recommend Taqueria and know the line moves quickly, and if you are in a party of two have one person ask at the bar if you can eat there! read more

I lived in Brookhaven for a long time so when Peachtree Station in Chamblee emerged and brought with it one of my fave spots for margaritas, I was pumped! This location has friendly staff and tasty grub, so it's high on the list when looking for a casual lunch or dinner spot. First, the margaritas are delicious. I usually get the house and don't sweat the calories because they are worth every single one! I have no idea what the secret is but the house on the rocks with salt is one of my fave margs in the city. I love the variety in their specialty tacos. Seems every couple of weeks they change up their offering and they are unique in flavors. From a hot dog taco (in celebration of Braves opening weekend) to a cheeseburger taco, they have all been tasty so I recommend trying them! Some staple tacos are the Memphis (smoked pork with jalapeño coleslaw and tequila barbecue sauce) and of course the fried chicken (with jalapeño mayo, lettuce and tomato). The enchiladas here are amazing! All of them. The red beef chili smothered on top of the brisket enchilada is a saucy delight. The chicken enchilada drenched in the verde sauce is heavenly. As others have mentioned, you're likely going to wait. You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. You can go straight to the bar if you find a seat, but you can't save a chair if your lunch pal is running late. Utterly amazing tacos, wide variety, ample food in each taco, served quickly and piping hot, and the taste is out of this world. My trifecta is usually fish, carnitas y brisket. My wife always gets 3 brisket. They're so good that we literally inhale them, and then say "why did we do that?". Anyone watching us would think we burned one in the car on the way here. Working backward through tip and tax, I figured the bill for the food/beer was about $26.50 or so. I didn't even look at how much I was charged until I got home. Based on menu prices, it shoulda been maybe $21.50 assuming beer was $5. LOL. Eat there, but please check how much you are being charged when you are paying. Gal taking the orders and ringing them up is on drugs or something? Or was my beer really $10??? Just a 12-oz can of Night on Ponce, not something from the cellar of a Belgian monastery. The Pros: -Very quick service: Order at the counter, pick your seat, and the food comes out in minutes -Small menu: Easy to decide on what you want -You can swap out the flour tortilla for a corn tortilla (yay gluten free option) -The Salsa Trio is GREAT! I loved the green salsa, it was so fresh. The Cons: -Food was a little bland. The pork was average, and the veggie taco just tasted like regular refried beans. -Small menu: Not a lot of options to pick from so you better like what's on the menu! I'm not sure what to say about this place other than skip it and go to Verde or Takorea if you want really good tacos. We used to go to the West Midtown location all the time back in the day because it was unique, maybe the other taquerias caught up and passed them. We had the brisket taco - not great, the chicken tacos - fine, and the fish taco which was the best of the three, sadly the rice and beans were the best thing we had. The Cheshire Bridge location employees ignore females and the Chamblee doorman yells and belittles them in front of other customers for briefly stepping out of line (with permission from the other customers in line) to get a drink. In no way would a male customer ever be treated in such a demeaning and disrespectful manner. I'm a fan of this location. But - this place can get real crowded when you come at the wrong time. Parking - There are several parking lots. You can even park near Wholefoods and walk on over. Taking a few extra steps won't kill ya! Space - I'd say Medium to Big. When there are tons of people around, you may have to wait a little but if it's not a massive crowd, you'll be able to find a table fairly quickly. There's indoor/outdoor seating + bar area.
