The elevated outdoor patio was the right call, we were greeted immediately after sitting down. We asked for a lunch menu and got right to it. I ordered the chicken rice bowl and a kale Caesar. The rice bowl was the star -- perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and not dry at all. The Caesar was decent but needed more dressing out of the gate. I did ask for extra after tasting it and that fixed it, so just ask upfront and save yourself the step. We split a pomegranate agua fresca in a pitcher between three of us and it was really refreshing -- great call for a midday lunch in the sun. Solid spot for a quick but elevated lunch. Still so bad. I'm at a loss. We arrived at 7 on a Sunday and there were plenty of open tables. We decided to sit on the patio and they accommodated us with a large umbrella. That is the best of it. 10 minutes for anyone to come by. 10 more minutes for water - its August in Atlanta. Two margaritas clock in at 15 minutes after ordering. Our waiter was very nice and energetic. But you cant fix a broken system. We were served guacamole and tuna poke but after asking and being promised a few times, we never got plates/trays for sharing. Second round of drinks were ordered at the same time the first arrived and still we waited. Our server acknowledged the significant wait times and then went in an explanation of how its always busy on Sundays and the bar tender is just overwhelmed - UM is this news to anyone? Also - it wasn't busy but if one bartender cant handle the volume the solution seems simple - add another to the schedule. And then there are the tacos. Some folks enjoyed them but if they weren't gross they were just ok with one exception - they can fry fish to crispy perfection. But then they just slap some mayo and drop it in a food service tortilla. No cilantro, no onions and no one to address this with. What was gross was fried cauliflower - limp, oily and uncooked with breading falling off and filling the taco. The enoki taco was a blob of AGAIN undercooked flour batter and some thing that looked like mushroom but had little taste. Shrimp taco was same as the fish - good fry but no attention to the accompaniments. First-timer here! I arrived during lunch hours between 12:30pm and 1:00pm and surprisingly the service was quick and efficient. Zack (Zac) was our server and broke down the house rules for me. You should use the paper menu to place your order. There are napkins, silverware and chopsticks in a bucket on the table for use. You must ask for a straw. I ordered and devoured the street corn and ahi tuna + crispy rice bowl which costs $19.38 and that's with tax. It was DE-LI-CIOUS! I honestly didn't know what to expect. Super disappointed in our little local place. They couldn't sit us because their system was down. So why can't they take a piece of paper from the server to the kitchen for an order? This is insane! Management needs to get it together. Computer problems happen but to turn away regulars because you can't carry a piece of paper from a table to the kitchen? And the hostess said we could sit down and wait half an hour but all we could get was water. Bad bad bad. The comment below from management about not having the products we wanted was from eight years ago. The restaurant turning us away because their system was down was Sunday 22 February 2026. I too often dismiss Bar Taco and write it off as a "basic," nothing special, chain joint that would be more of a last resort than a planned-choice. My return to BT for the first time in a while was an important correction of that misconception. I'm here to assert that Bartaco is the perfect, quaint spot to meet up with friends, family, larger-group, small, etc.! Everything about the service and experience is made easy. Getting a table (in all my past experiences) is easy-- and I love that you don't have to have a reservation. Ordering is quick and fun, through the order slips and 'Ready' cards. I'm convinced each dish we ordered took no more then 5 minutes to come out-- super quick and convenient for our group of friends. Because it's so speedy, we could order just as we wanted something. Last min "ooooh wish we'd ordered Churros for dessert before leaving..." FEAR NOT! they'll be out in a matter a moments. The ambiance is always predictably beautiful and low-key. My husband and I recently tried Bartaco for the first time. We were seeing a concert at Chastain Park and needed a close spot for dinner. This location was perfect as it was a 7 minute drive away from the amphitheater. We started off with an appetizer of guacamole, a watermelon basil marg for me and a mojito for him. I obviously couldn't wait to take a photo of the guacamole before we devoured it. The drinks were well-made and so refreshing on a hot summer evening. For our mains, he ordered the Korean BBQ Ribeye Rice Bowl and a Baja Fish Taco. I ordered 3 tacos - Baja Fish, Pork Belly and Chili-lime Shrimp. Such a cute place for tacos and drinks! I walked in around 10p on a Wednesday and was seated immediately in the patio. The patio is extremely nice and seems to be a nice option for dining in the daytime due to its ample shade. The restaurant is completely digital meaning you review the menu, order and, pay via a QR code. There are servers there to assist you but, they only come when you are initially seated and if you signal for them via putting up a bartaco card on a holder on your table. I order the lobster roll taco warmed, the shrimp taco and the salsa Verde and chips. I really enjoyed the tacos. They are small but, the price point allows you to get multiple if you're still hungry. I did end up ordering a pork belly taco after sampling my partners. It is delicious. I also tried the duck birria - A little sweet but, not bad. The online ordering is a bit frustrating because you go to lunch to enjoy company but everyone is siting on their phones and I just don't think its necessary anymore. The few times we spoken to by a server, she was very nice. To start we ordered the chips and guac, panachos, street corn and plantains. The chips and guac and the plantains were delicious. I could have done without the other two. I also ordered a Green Margarita which tasted like overly sweet juice. I would suggest ordered 4 tacos as I went with 3 and definitely had room for another. I really enjoyed my tacos. Here is what I had: 1) chile-lime shrimp w/ jicama escabeche + zesty pepita salsa macha 2) sesame ribeye w/sweet sesame-soy glaze marinade w/ spicy kimchi 3) roasted duck w/tamarind glaze The roasted duck taco was my favorite but they were all great.
