SCW and I stopped into Taqueria El Burrito kind of on accident. We intended to go somewhere else but they were closed. We walked around town a bit and stopped in. The interior is nice and clean. You'll find menus overhead and regular ones. We both ordered the veggie burrito and I got a veggie torta. The torta was good, fresh veggies and decent bread. The burritos were huge. I enjoyed mine especially after adding some salsas from the salsa bar. The salsa bar itself is a reason to visit as they have a good variety of heat levels. I did find that the burrito itself was a little bland, but the salsa was a good improvement. We took our food to go. It was ready in about 10 minutes or so. As a previous, experienced employee at Chipotle, my expectations for burritos are high as I became accustomed to making my own precisely how I wanted. However, I would trust Taqueria El Burrito to roll me one of these johns again!! Not only was it structurally sound, but warm, aromatic, and substantial for my stomach and soul. They lose a star for the sign posted above the salsa bar, limiting the quantity of little plastic containers you can fill. But to our delight, their surveillance system is flawed. I was pretty disappointed on the regular burrito that I had today for lunch. The ingredients were very "odd" to me and didn't taste well. I'm used to having a burrito with beans, meat and just the tortilla but decided to go with the cheese and salsa but no rice with the pastor. I was sorely disappointed in the flavor. The meat was tasteless, the cheese and salsa did not go well and the tortilla was oddly seared on the outside pretty much like a breakfast burrito. The salsa also had some pineapples and cinnamon? Yuck! This is probably one of the worst burritos I've ever had so far in all of Oregon. I also forgot to mention but the chips tasted stale and may have been recooked from an older batch. I was skeptical and thinking this may not even be authentic Mexican food but some other type of food that's outside of Mexico. The ingredients are just not your common Mexican food ingredients. I should have gone with the menudo as how I did with my last review but now I know not to go with the burrito next time. Best to go behind the restaurant and have Ricky make one for you. I've read that this place previous ownership was much better and by seeing the 40+ reviews tells me it's probably under new ownership. Could explain the inconsistency. read more

Everything was burnt and tasteless. We ordered the chicken flautas (burnt and tasteless), veggie burrito (tasteless), and chips and salsa (burnt chips and salsa like ketchup). I don't like to leave bad reviews, but this was BAD. A basic home cook could have done a better job. It's hard to have a truly bad meal at a Mexican restaurant, but this was really horrible. Stopped in on a Friday evening. It's open and there's plenty of seating. Decent customer service. They deliver the food to your table after ordering at the register. We ordered tacos and flautas to share. Overall the food was decent, it wasn't the best I ever had but it certainly wasn't bad. The salsa definitely has some heat. read more

I go here all the time by myself, so when my family was in town i recommended this place. We went there and the girl at the front was so incredibly rude to my father who was visiting from 14 hours away. My father asked very politely if they make hard shell tacos, she snapped back with "this isn't Taco Bell". My father also has a hard time seeing, when she handed him a small print menu he said "the one behind you is bigger" and she said "they're both the same menu sir." She never even smiled once. I wish I could take my cash tip out of the jar. Both my father and I work in customer service, I myself am a waitress. Has it really been a year since my last review? Not much has changed. Except for the winter hours which I made several inquiries about. As myself and others were able to walk in at 815-830 per the posted hours on their website and on Yelp open till 9 pm. We were asked if we had placed orders for pick up? Which I guess I don't get. Maybe orders were just sitting there waiting to be picked up. The food is king. So let's not quibble about an hours mix up or miss communication. It does not change the quality of the food. Just keeps from a 5 star. Customer service seems to always be a struggle. All the way from ordering to getting your food and having the salsa bar stocked. Minor issues that don't relifh taking them to a 3 star because again the food is so good. It's just up and down unique flavor and combinations. All home made the tortillas have that fresh quality taste. It's all a matter of what you feel like experiencing on your taste pallet. Every item has been very good. Always seems to be a constant flow of traffic both done in and take out. I would say for sure the food keeps people coming back. Delectable. This is exactly what I was hoping to find. We were greeted with a smile that was as authentic as the decor of this restaurant. We ordered, and our food was made within a reasonable amount of time. My partner ordered a burrito that was not only delicious, but massive in size as well. I opted for the Torta Al Pastor, and could not have been more pleased. I will definitely be returning to this establishment in the future. Taqueria El Burrito located downtown is what I would describe as a local, casual Mexican restaurant. It's a big space inside, but the setting isn't necessarily impressive. The staff was kind taking our order. I got a Carnitas burrito. The portion of the burrito is pretty big and wrapped nicely. The taste of the carnitas and the burrito as a whole did not wow me, so it was ok. The salsa/sauce I added didn't make it much better unfortunately. Got the tacos with handmade corn tortilla, one street taco, and a regular burrito. And everything was pretty darn delicious! Well seasoned and great flavors. The handmade corn tortillas are a bit larger than the street tacos and way softer. They were delicious! One caveat is that they kinda crumble as you eat them, especially if the filling is kind of moist. But the flavor is worth the effort to eat this. The street tacos were ok. Didn't blow my mind. The burrito was unique in that it had finely shredded cabbage inside. I've never had a burrito like this before and felt that the cabbage really balanced out the typically heavy and greasy feeling of a burrito. I enjoyed it. Food taste decent. My wife and I are new to Newberg (from Los Angeles ) and wanted to find a good place to get Mexican or even anything close to Mexican food. We came across this spot and tried it out, it was okay. We ordered 2 burritos with guac (a whole 2.99 extra for EACH burrito !) which is fine we me , but the burritos had more lettuce then any other ingredient and little to no guacamole!! Today I had the chicken enchiladas served with rice and beans, topped with half of a perfectly ripe avocado, tomato slices, shredded lettuce, crema, and queso fresco. Delish. We have been coming here for at least 6 years now, maybe more. It's gone through a few ownership and name changes, but thank goodness the same great food! Recipes have seemed to stay pretty consistent - I was worried at first! This is probably my favorite Mexican food I've had in Oregon. We've probably visited at least 4 or 5 times since the new name of Taqueria Burrito. Almost every time I end up getting a chicken burrito (spicy marinated dark meat!) and it's my favorite thing on the menu. But honestly I've never tried anything here that I don't like. Tacos on handmade tortillas are great, the tamales, empanadas, and taquitos/flautas are awesome too. Oh and the breakfast burrito with chicken and bacon, yummm! They are great with accommodating my "no dairy" modifications. Everyone who works here is always friendly to us. The real kicker is their variety of house made sauces and salsas. Oh my gosh they are fantastic. We always get extra and just slather them all over everything! I could almost drink them plain. I will continue to make this my number one spot for delicious Mexican food and I hope they, and their recipes, stick around for a long time! read more

Well - we were in the area and googled Mexican restaurants. This one came with pretty good reviews. The nachos (carne asada) were fresh and a BIG plate. Loved them. We were full after them - ! We dropped in on a Thursday evening the only customers in the dining room. Service was friendly and fast. I ordered a spicy chicken enchilada plate. Which was wonderful. Everything tasted homemade. My husband ordered a lengua taco and burrito. He said the taco was excellent but unfortunately the burrito was not special. He did ask for hot sauce when food was delivered that never arrived. I was so impressed with the quality of the meat, sauce, refrieds I still had to give them 5 stars. I definitely recommend you give them a try.
