    gluten free enchiladas

I just needed to update my former review - I now have celiac disease and can no longer have gluten - unfortunately they have a shared fryer with gluten and I got really sick from eating the chips (my old favorite), without thinking to check first. I wish they would have a dedicated gf fryer, but for now, I get the tacos or enchiladas and bring my own gf chips.

Pacifica isn't lacking in Mexican food choices, but Taqueria El Gran Amigo II is one of the better ones due to its consistent food, ease of access, and friendly staff. It comes down to one thing: their refried beans. I'm not sure what it is, but Taqueria El Gran Amigo II has the best refried beans in town. I get them on everything: burritos, on plates, in tacos, on the side, everywhere they'll let me order them. Pro-tip: do not skip out on the refried beans! My first time here I went with the chile verde dinner plate, since I'm a big fan of chile verde. It didn't blow me away, but it came out fast and it was hot and combined with the beans, as previously mentioned, the plate was pretty good. Service is decent, but not outstanding. The people taking orders are friendly enough, but sometimes they mix things up - on one occasion some other customer accidentally got our order and we waited for about 20 minutes before anyone realized. The staff was apologetic and remade our order for us. Taqueria El Gran Amigo II is situated in the back of the Linda Mar shopping center, next to the fitness center and a bank. There's adequate parking, even when the area is busy. Overall it's a decent experience for a small beach town.

Supposed to be a super quesadilla with chicken but looks more like a burrito with lettuce, sour cream, an avocado spread and pico de gallo.

We stumbled upon El Gran Amigo after enjoying Pacifica Beach for a few hours. It's located in a strip mall right down the street from our original location which was nice. The restaurant seemed promising based on appearance. The food was nothing exciting though as the items lacked flavor. I ordered a super quesadilla which resembled a large burrito. The chips and salsa were complimentary but tasted straight up like tomato juice and oregano. Decent pricing but I would not return. Again, it's Pacifica so there are not a lot of quality Mexican food spots around. We took what we could get.

The chicken enchiladas were very good..not excellent but very good nonetheless. Comes with sour cream, guacamole, rice, refried beans, and salsa. The salsa was a bit watery for me as I prefer it slightly chunky. The chips are thick here and non salted. My friend had the pozole and it was very good and to their satisfaction. The service was swift.

I mean it's one of the better Mexican restaurants in Pacifica. Fresh food cooked right when you order. I usually order to go since I live close by but there's plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. We get our burritos here I appreciate how I don't get any fat in my carne. I get their fish tacos with salsa cilantro and onions. The hot sauce is too hot but if I forget to order without (done over a dozen times) I'll still devour my fish tacos. My daughter likes their nachos steak fries, my son gets steak tacos like street tacos and we love how they make their horchata. Service is decent. My order is always correct. Check out the art displayed on their walls.

This is part of their menu as of 02-2022! They have a wide selection and everything is so yummy!

They have a Variety of menu, taco, burrito, nacho, quecedilla, fish, meat plates, shrimp cocktail, etc. The volume is good, taste ok. Just not a fantastic taste but you can get decent food here.

Good service. A little pricey for and average breakfast burrito. Nice little seating area. Maybe I'll try something different next time.

We very rarely go here, though. It had been a very long time, over a decade, since we ordered food from them, so I nearly forgot why they are not one of our usual spots. DJ told me that the food is underwhelming, that's why. I didn't remember this, so I gave them another try on October 3, 2025. We had an appointment at Banfield, but I was starving. So I decided to drop in very quickly for something little and easy to eat while at the vet appointment. The small eatery, of likely a maximum occupancy of around sixty to seventy persons in the dining room, appeared to be semi-clean. Tables looked like they could have used a good wiping, but I wasn't concerned about that since I was ordering take-out. They have a chips and salsa bar at the end of the dining room which looked decent enough to trust the offerings, but, again, the counters could have used a wipe-down. I initially was going to order a taco or two, but decided that a tamal would be easier to eat without making a mess. According to a posted sign at the counter, tamales, sweet corn or chicken, are supposed to be $3.50 each. I say "supposed to be" because despite what their sign says, my receipt shows me that I was actually charged $3.64 for one, plus tax. Not cool. It's only a $0.14 difference, but this should never happen, ever. I recall pointing out the price difference to the cashier to which I was given some bogus response. I was too much in a hurry to get into a debate with her. As for the taste, the flavour of the chicken was not bad, but overall, the tamale was DRY. My tamal had a thin layer of sauce on top and the inside could have used some kind of moisture, either from cheese or sauce. After the appointment at Banfield, for the convenience, I returned to Guerrero's #2 to buy dinner for the family (Super Burrito for $15.08, Veggie Burrito for $13.00, Taco Plate for $18.20 + a Flauta for $3.00, and 2 Large Horchatas for $10.40, totaling $65.58 inclusive of tax). DJ reiterated that the food was meh...and I finally remembered how we found their menu items to be subpar. Service is usually fairly quick and decently friendly, though. I will refer to this yelp review of mine to serve as a reminder as to why we don't frequent Guerrero's Taqueria #2, in case I forget again.

At that price, I was expecting…read moresomething that would separate it from the countless great taco spots around the Central Valley maybe handmade tortillas, grilled-to-order meat, or something memorable. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The chicken taco ($5.99) was good, but there was no wow factor. The chicken had decent flavor, but everything else felt pretty basic for a nearly $6 taco. The crunchy taco ($5.99) was probably the most disappointing. It reminded me of a small supermarket-style hard taco shell. The chopped steak inside was actually good, but it was heavily covered in shredded cheese. Then there's the Super Taco ($7.99). This one is a skip for me. It was loaded with cheese and watery guacamole, while the al pastor was drenched in sauce and seasoning. There was so much going on that I couldn't really appreciate the meat itself. That's roughly $20 for three tacos before tax... and ultimately, they still felt like fairly basic tacos made with basic ingredients. We also ordered the chicken quesadilla, and I'll give them this: it was MASSIVE. Definitely not lacking in portion size. But again, there was so much cheese, and the chicken was diced so finely that I found myself questioning the overall quality and freshness rather than appreciating the chicken. Surprisingly, my favorite part of the meal was the complimentary chips and green salsa. The green salsa had a nice kick and great flavor. Interestingly, though, our two cups tasted completely different one was flavorful and spicy, while the other was noticeably bland. After everything, we somehow walked out spending around $45 after tipping at checkout. That's where this place loses me. I'm willing to pay more for good food, and I understand restaurant prices have gone up everywhere. But when you're charging $5.99-$7.99 per taco, the quality has to justify it. The food wasn't terrible. It just wasn't memorable enough for the price. If you're coming here expecting elevated tacos to match the elevated price, I would temper those expectations.

Started with maragaritas and I have never had a maragarita served in this manner (see photos). The maragarita had plenty of Grand Marnier/Contreau and Don Julio tequila but it was the way it was served that was impressive. Had the usual chips & salsa but the salsa was freshly roasted and smoky a surprising texture and flavor. I had the chile relleno which was the puffiest relleno I've ever had. So delicious, melt in your mouth, filled with so much cheese it oozed cheese everywhere on the plate. The other dish was a cheese enchilada traditional plate but the largest enchilada I've ever seen. Both dishes were served with rice and beans (black & refried). This restaurant served hearty plates of traditional Mexican dishes that were above par and well oh so good.
