I was really excited to try this place, but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. As soon as we walked in, we weren't greeted. My boyfriend even said, "Hi," to the guy at the register, and he never responded. When I was placing my order, I wanted to make sure he heard me correctly, so I repeated part of it. Instead of answering politely, he responded with, "Yeah, yeah, you'll see it on the screen," in a rude, dismissive tone that made us feel like he was just trying to rush us. Our food came out quickly, which was probably the only positive besides the michelada. The tacos were also disappointing. The photos show them being served on yellow corn tortillas, but ours came on white tortillas. I didn't complain because I figured they'd still taste good, but they had almost no flavor at all. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp cocktail, and it was just as bland. Between the two of us, we spent around $50, and it honestly felt like money wasted. The michelada was the only thing we actually enjoyed. As someone who loves supporting Mexican-owned businesses, this experience was really disappointing. Great service and flavorful food are what keep people coming back, and unfortunately this place missed the mark on both. I hope they improve because I don't see myself returning. read more

Food is great, not rich but well cook. When is about the service is pretty cool and fast. The place is quite cornered but spaced up, i can see that only waiting for tables due that takes time to pick one during busy time. I just needed to update my former review - I now have celiac disease and can no longer have gluten - unfortunately they have a shared fryer with gluten and I got really sick from eating the chips (my old favorite), without thinking to check first. Pacifica isn't lacking in Mexican food choices, but Taqueria El Gran Amigo II is one of the better ones due to its consistent food, ease of access, and friendly staff. It comes down to one thing: their refried beans. I'm not sure what it is, but Taqueria El Gran Amigo II has the best refried beans in town. I get them on everything: burritos, on plates, in tacos, on the side, everywhere they'll let me order them. Pro-tip: do not skip out on the refried beans! My first time here I went with the chile verde dinner plate, since I'm a big fan of chile verde. It didn't blow me away, but it came out fast and it was hot and combined with the beans, as previously mentioned, the plate was pretty good. Service is decent, but not outstanding. The people taking orders are friendly enough, but sometimes they mix things up - on one occasion some other customer accidentally got our order and we waited for about 20 minutes before anyone realized. The staff was apologetic and remade our order for us. Taqueria El Gran Amigo II is situated in the back of the Linda Mar shopping center, next to the fitness center and a bank. Worst fajitas I've ever had. We ordered 2 plates of steak fajitas by delivery. Ridiculously skimpy amounts of everything for $20 plates. The styrofoam box was maybe 1/3 full. No flavor to the food. I had to add salt to make it palatable. Fatty and tough steak cuts. The corn tortillas are way too thick. We stumbled upon El Gran Amigo after enjoying Pacifica Beach for a few hours. It's located in a strip mall right down the street from our original location which was nice. The restaurant seemed promising based on appearance. The food was nothing exciting though as the items lacked flavor. I ordered a super quesadilla which resembled a large burrito. The chips and salsa were complimentary but tasted straight up like tomato juice and oregano. Decent pricing but I would not return. The chicken enchiladas were very good..not excellent but very good nonetheless. Comes with sour cream, guacamole, rice, refried beans, and salsa. The salsa was a bit watery for me as I prefer it slightly chunky. The chips are thick here and non salted. My friend had the pozole and it was very good and to their satisfaction. I mean it's one of the better Mexican restaurants in Pacifica. Fresh food cooked right when you order. I usually order to go since I live close by but there's plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. We get our burritos here I appreciate how I don't get any fat in my carne. I get their fish tacos with salsa cilantro and onions. The hot sauce is too hot but if I forget to order without (done over a dozen times) I'll still devour my fish tacos. My daughter likes their nachos steak fries, my son gets steak tacos like street tacos and we love how they make their horchata. Service is decent. My order is always correct. I usually don't eat here but was in the strip mall so I figured id give it a try. Ordered the Al pastor burrito. The pork had absolutely no flavor and the tortilla was hardish. I couldn't even do that little flavor in my home cooking if I tried. I can't explain what I was eating but no bbq, bright, or fruity flavors I associate with Al pastor. At $17 a burrito I expect way better. If stuck, you'll fill your gut but otherwise look elsewhere to the other local great Mexican places. read more

This is the best restauraunt in the Linda Mar Shopping Center. As a local I come here several times a months. The food is consistently filling, flavorful, and doesn't break the bank. My favorite thing to order is the pozole and taco salad. read more

The alpastor (bbq pork) burrito was the most dissappointing one. I had to spit out dried chili seeds while eating this burrito. The chili oil dripped all the way to the bottom of the burrito, which made it soggy and oily. I also ordered two churros and they were just ok. Got take out and sat outside at the tables. One of the few restaurants in the area that have outdoor dining in Pacifica. Not impressed with the food. Will not be coming here again and will go to another Mexican restaurant in the area. The food is inexpensive but the ingredients used are not very good. I got the wet super burrito and nachos. The cheese is just mozzarella and it ends up having a thick layer of grease on it when it melts. The nachos were some of the worst nachos I've ever had.
