I love this place! Every time I come in, the food is excellent and the service is great too! I usually get whatever the special is, and I haven't been disappointed yet. The tortilla chips that are brought to your table after you order at the counter are just right. Thin but crisp. And there is a small salsa bar offering several different salsas. There is one other thing that makes you want to come back, and that is Sergio, the owner of the restaurant. He takes your order but always asks how you're doing. You can tell that he loves his work. That makes such a difference in everything! If you haven't tried El Taco, give it a shot. read more

Queso was congealed and lumpy, and after asking them to microwave it up to liquify it a bit, same issue when we got it back. Salsa was terrible (tried a bunch of them, nothing good) and the cups were too small to dip a chip in them. My wife got the beef nachos, that came cold and the beef was tasteless, not to mention the same issue with the cold queso on the nachos. I got a Milanese (might have messed up the spelling), which is breaded and fried beef with tortillas, salad, rice and beans. The beef wasn't good at all, the tortillas were okay, the rice didn't taste seasoned and the beans were watered down enough to the consistency of soup. To top it all off, this place was on the expensive side of Mexican food. If you're in Anderson looking for Mexican, just go up Hwy 81 to Papas and Beer.
