Loved the food and the service at Taqueria El Viejon! Don't let the location or first thoughts upon pulling up, stop you from experiencing great food, great service, and a welcoming environment. We showed up with a group of 14 and were sat right away with friendly smiles and warm hospitality. Our group ordered a variety of items carne asada fries (bomb!), chicken nuggets and fries (for the kids), chicken quesadillas, birria plate, burritos, and tacos and topped it off with a trea leches cake. The family was super sweet and told us they've been open for 2 months now. They also shared that they have $1.50 tacos on Thursday nights which is a great deal! My husband had an Al pastor taco, asada taco, and I had an asada taco and a side of rice. I'm very picky about rice at Mexican restaurants and I thought the tacos and rice both tasted really good! We don't live nearby, but our friends who were with us do and said they would be back. Thank you El Viejon staff for the hospitality! We had a great time!

Asada Taco and Pastor Taco, forgive me there were 3, but one was devoured before I remembered to take a picture.

Really good tacos! We stopped by El Viejon today for lunch and were so impressed with this adorable restaurant! They are located near the Piggly Wiggly on Princess Anne Road in Norfolk. I ordered Asada and Pastor tacos and they were so delicious. They had generous portions of meat, cilantro and onions on a corn tortilla. It hit the spot. We also got carne asada fries. The asada was perfectly cooked and the toppings were delish. The guacamole was excellent! I can't wait to come back and try more.

Excellent overall. One dessert was underwhelming, but the rest of the meal made up for it. Staff was friendly and attentive throughout.

Our server came to the table quickly and brought chips and salsa and took our drink orders. The menu was plentiful and prices were reasonable. They have a nice little happy hour menu. Food service was timely and everything tasted good. Things I didn't love: The noise level is a bit loud. Certainly great for large groups and families, but not an intimate, low noise environment. The ambiance is bright lighting with white tile floors. I suppose I enjoy an aesthetic that is not so stark and bright. On the plus side, it was clean!

I live about 30+ mins away but I remember the food being very good last time, so I didn't mind the drive at all. We were greeted by the host as soon as we walked in and were seated right away. Our server was wonderful. She was very pleasant and helped us with some of the questions we had regarding the menu items. We started with the Fresh Tableside Guacamole and it tasted great! We did order it with a "medium" spice level and it wasn't spicy at all but other than that, it was very good. Since the Street Tacos caught our eye, we both decided on those. We ordered the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, Carnitas, Chorizo, Camarón, Nopales and Lengua. The tacos were served with a variety of different sauces, ranging from sweet and mild to very spicy. Most of the tacos were delicious, our favorite was the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, and Camarón. We weren't a fan of the Lengua, it was very dry, chewy and unflavored. Overall, we had a great experience. Our margaritas were amazing as well! I love the vibe of this restaurant and the food and service is always wonderful.
