Filling food for a great Sunday! Went here for my brother's birthday and did not disappoint. My favorite is the pork tacos because it was just SOOOO meaty. Szechuan pork belly could use more flavor and less brussel sprouts. Maybe chopped moreso than only sliced in half. Sliced steak tacos were juicy and has an impact, along with the jerk chicken tacos! For a place that serves only tacos, they don't even make good tacos. I had two birria tacos and they weren't prepared correctly. They are supposed to be stuffed with meat and cheese then fried. Mine showed up on two dry corn tortillas with no cheese, just a little onion. Very disappointing. My friend ordered alote dip and it tasted like milk was poured in and not even stirred. Just awful. They would have been better off serving melted white velvita. read more

Had a great dinner at Zandra's on a Saturday night. We started with the Elote Tots which were very attractively arranged on the plate. I had the chicken burrito and my wife had a few tacos, and we each got drinks. Our server was very attentive and it wasn't too loud inside. We loved that they played Madonna for nearly an hour, showing music videos on their television. Prices were fairly reasonable. Hot sauce was a little commercial-tasting...was hoping for something with a little more character. There are several locations in VA for this establishment. I visited the Culpeper location. Good tacos if you are looking for something different and tired of the same old chicken, shrimp, or beef. The tacos ala carte are a little on the pricey side, but they are worth it. They are made very well. I enjoyed the Honey Habanero Shrimp Taco - which are not spicey in the least bit. Ignore Habanero being in the title, but they are good. I also had the Skirt Steak Taco and the Tempura Shrimp Taco. Both were good and I would get again, but the Honey Habanero is a must have again. The drinks are priced on average for a bar. They offer daily deals on certain drinks which is nice. The location for Culpeper is good and easy to access. Its right at the end of main street. I wish they had offered a basket of chips and salsa with the tacos, but they do not. You can buy chips and salsa from the menu and they did look really good - but I don't see why they can't offer a basket of chips with a house salsa like other places. I would like to try their burrito and fajita sometime. The only real complaint I have is that I didn't see the option to order a 3 pack of tacos on their menu. So I purchased ala carte, which is evidently much more expensive. I would have liked the waitress to have informed me. I didn't see this until I looked at their online menu. Now that I know this, I can order more efficiently in the future and avoid high priced ala carte options. read more

We've been to Zandra's Culpeper a few times - the food & service are great, a great addition to Culpeper's growing culinary offerings. My favorite tacos are the Vegan Asada, Farmhouse, & Brussels Sprouts. I also enjoy the Appetizers. Yes - the whole of the appetizer section of the menu. Everything on it is awesome. OMG I do t know where to start! Service 10/10 wait time 8/10, food quality 10/10 and the atmosphere 10/10! Loved it! This is not authentic tacos, but modern interpretations... The service is great! But: The elote has cinnamon on it giving an Indian food taste. The skirt steak is the cheaper, tough inside skirt. Very chewy! I might try eating her again if someone else invited me. But I don't think I would go on my own. read more

The sweet tea tasted like water. I ordered carne asada taco and got chicken. We showed the server where there was a curly hair in our nacho chips. She told us it was from the corn husks. Thought it was odd, but ok, until I found a straight hair. The manager tried to take my fork and I told him I wasn't done. To which he replied, "I'm just messing up today." I told him that I didn't say that and don't put words in my mouth. The Commander football game was on and he made some comment to another table about Eagles fans, which I took an offense to because I am one. The people ordering alcohol took priority over us. Cons: No flavor at all for the birra tacos or the "juice" I've never had a tasteless birria taco. I've had several of the different tacos on the menu and have found almost every single one to be very delicious and flavorful. I love the apps, especially the street corn. However, they always seem to be understaffed both at the tables and the bar. Even on a Sunday evening when there were only 3-4 tables of people, it was at least 10+ minutes to get a beer and even longer for the wait staff to come back to take the food order. The bartenders do like to speak some of the folks seated at the bar and apparently that's a distraction for them because if you are a walk up or are waiting for your drink order, you're pretty much invisible. I have probably been there about 20 times and it is the same every time. Please hire more staff to tend to your guests. read more
