When walking in, there was a cigarette smell. That is an immediate turn off. The decor was very Texas, though, which was fun. The server said they were from Texas so I was thinking this was going to be delicious, like a hole in the wall situation. Holes in the walls are always so surprisingly yummy. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The meat looked like it had a ton of seasoning but it was flavorless. It didn't taste smoked or anything. It was cooked to a good temp and was tender, but that's all it had going for it. The Mac and cheese looked so good and gooey but, again, flavorless. We got the appetizer of all the dips. The queso was ok. They said their avocados were not soft so they chopped them up with a ton of onion and tomato to make up for it? The salsa was ok, again, not much flavor, other than onion. I wasn't planning on stopping or even knew this existed, but I love some roadside bbq so I made a stop when I spotted it on my drive to Culpeper. I LOVE BBQ SAUCE!!! All kinds. Mustard based, tangy, sweet, all of them. That said, I know the best bbq is the kind that stands on its own without any sauce. So I will always taste before adding sauce. I got some pulled pork to go and it was really very very good. Worth getting again. Their bbq sauce, as others have said, really isn't anything to write home about. Terrible service. Assholes for employees. Im at bald top brewery and just had an incredibly terrible experience with your food truck workers. We had ordered a lot of food for a larger party. We're here for my grandfathers 88th birthday. They forgot a sandwich that was ordered and forgot jalapeños on the Mac and cheese. No big deal, however upon addressing the situation the cook yelled out "I guess we will take your word for it". He said "we're busy man". I said that's ok I'm just communicating. You guys have messed up two things on out order and I'm just trying to sort it out. I said you can just refund me the 50 cents for the jalapeño if you would like. He said "you ain't getting fucking shit back". And said "we can call the police if you're like" I responded with "is that really necessary?" They gave me the things I had asked for and I walked away. Obviously this situation was handled terribly by the staff. I hope that you recognize the type of service your providing and create a solution to reduce conflicts like these. While my wife and I were visiting some wineries I was craving something familiar like BBQ. A quick search and I found Burnt Ends BBQ. We didn't know what to expect until we stepped outside the car. One whiff and I was brought back to my childhood. Roots in Texas we have very high standards when it comes to smoking meat. It's all about slow and low. I have to tell you the owners, Maria and Ronnie definitely get i! The brisket is on point in every aspect. We had to try the tacos and the nachos and they too did not disappoint. This was a first and last visit for us. The service was satisfactory. This is more like an eat in bar than restaurant. The food: had pork ribs oversmoked. Baked beans way too much vinegar and mustard. Soggy fries. BBQ sauce looked like watery ketchup tasted like yellow mustard and vinegar. This place did not remind me of any Texas BBQ i have eaten. I got a full rack of pork ribs, first bite I was overcome by the taste of lighter fluid, or the taste of charcoal that you cooked too sooner because you didn't wait long enough. I'm 60 years old. And yes, I've eaten all different types of barbecue. In fact, I lived in Texas for a little while in San Antonio and I'm here to tell you know place has lighter fluid than part of the sauce. The worst $30.54 that I've spent in a very long time. I had a friend with me. He ordered a half rack of pork ribs and a pulled pork sandwich and he said exactly the same thing and when we were both taking the first bite, we looked up at each other and that's what we both said and you can't get the taste out of your mouth. read more

We went to a special event at their downtown Culpeper location. I really wish I could give them five starts as the place is nice, and the food excellent. The problem is the service was lacking. So I'll start with the bad. The sound system was way too loud for the space. After many people complained they finally lowered it and got it close. a tiny bit lower and everyone would have been happy. We get events need it a bit on the loud side but they were crazy loud, and for the space it was way too loud. Next the staff was great. but they needed more help for a full house. The poor gal serving us was way overwhelmed. The manager and owner were doing their best, but for a sell out event they need more help. After that, the event was good. the food excellent and everyone seemed to have a great time. we plan on coming back and I know it'll be better as I talked to the owner and he really seemed to care and want to make things even better. Did I mention the food was excellent. And I'm not big on BBQ. Overall they'll be a five star place in Culpeper but right now four seemed right for when they're busy. go when they're slower and you'll love it. Otherwise be a little patient and just relax and have great food casually. read more

I've now had a chance to enjoy this BBQ at a variety of locations, including most recently at the Middleburg Christmas Parade. Totally love the food and no matter where I'm ordering from, the main trailer or picking up from a satellite location, the food is consistently delicious. I LOVE the brisket and the tacos are soooo good. Their sauce is amazing on the pork and chicken, brisket doesn't need it, it's so flavorful and moist. Qualified 4 stars. I've stopped here twice so far and was served by a very nice Mother-daughter team; I believe this is a family business. I like testing a place by the quality of the ribs which I think are quite good here. Half rack is only $12, which I think pretty good price. Meat is juicy and falls of the bone. Their BBQ sauce is okay, I am tempted to bring my own next. The coleslaw is okay. Relative to other BBQ places in this State at least, this is definitely up there. It satisfies a craving. That said, compared to say, Kansas City, I think they would lose a star (Joe's being a Five Star); hence why I qualify the 4 stars. read more

There are some picnic benches to eat outside on a nice day. If the weather is bad, this is a to go place. No indoor seating. I will be returning to try all of there menu. Stopped at our local Lowe's last Saturday to pick up some gardening supplies, & there was overly-loud country-rock music blaring from the center of the parking lot. Turned out it was coming from a large food truck/trailer belonging to Burnt Ends BBQ. It was just turning 11:30 a.m., so decided we'd give it a try for an early takeout lunch. They had a nice small setup - one umbrella-topped wooden picnic table for dining or waiting for one's order, & even a flat-screen tv set into the side of the trailer, tuned to a sports channel. It may just be the old-fogeyism in me at this stage of life, but the volume of the music was really overpowering - nearly ear-splitting. I do understand that they were most likely playing it that way to advertise their presence (we didn't see any signs or ads in or around Lowe's at all), but my old-fogeyism didn't much care for it). We put in our order for one pulled smoked pork sandwich, one pulled smoked chicken sandwich, & one side of cole slaw to go. My husband isn't a red-meat-eater, & at first we thought he'd have to buy a half a smoked chicken in order to enjoy something, but then we noticed a menu addition of pulled smoked chicken sandwiches crayoned on the window glass. They really should add this to their printed menu, as we nearly missed it. One of the friendly chefs/cooks handed me a piece of foil topped with a few free samples of both their smoked beef brisket & pork, along with a squeeze bottle of sauce. All were juicy, tender, & DELICIOUS. The sauce had just the perfect amount of spicy zip. Our sandwiches were made, packed, & ready to go in about 15 minutes. Another friendly staffer double-checked our order & included two small sauce containers, as the meat is served pure as-is & you sauce it yourself if desired. Definitely a plus. Another major plus? Back home the sandwiches were great! Tender, juicy, but not so soggy that the soft buns they were on fell apart while eating. Very easy to eat, even when well-sauced by us. Honest, true smoke flavoring that didn't come from any bottle. Only ding I'd give was that cole slaw - obviously fresh & housemade - while providing an excellent foil for the spiciness of my sandwich, was extremely bland on its own. Nothing outside of an extremely mild mayo dressing - no seasoning whatsoever. Bottom Line: I'd enjoy another meal from them again if we ran across them somewhere. Meat was fresh, juicy, & obviously hadn't been sitting around stewing somewhere; staff was friendly & seemed to enjoy what they were doing. Don't have the receipt in front of me, but bill came to under $20 & made for a nice filling flavorful lunch. read more

Had the pork ribs, beef brisket sandwich, and 2 sides -- potato salad and Cole slaw -- while we were at The Farm Brewery at Broad Run in Haymarket, VA. The ribs and brisket were fabulous! Wanted to love the potato salad and Cole slaw, but neither of us liked either. Both had way too much mayonnaise and both tasted like they had been commercially prepared -- Costco, maybe? Why ruin a great experience with mediocre sides? We will come back, and order just the ribs and brisket -- NO sides. read more
