Authentic Dominican/Caribbean food in Willowbrook. Who knew?…read more I remember this place from a birthday party decades ago. The space was a bit bigger (they've since redesigned it smaller), but the crowds were smaller. Success hasn't tarnished their food. It was a very rainy and soggy afternoons and the place was packed. We managed a table and ordered. Can't go wrong with the delicious shrimp mofongo. I honestly think the sauce is the icing on that cake, made all the more delicious with a squeeze of lemon. Whew! Service was fast and dinner came out at a reasonable pace. The owner is so friendly and stopped by our table to make sure things were good. Better than good! If you're in the Willowbrook area do yourself a favor and stop in for lunch or dinner. Prices are a little steep, but what's isn't these days?

Food is very good, they have lunch specials during the week including pernil, pollo guisado, etc…read morefor about $12-13. I ordered the pollo guisado and moro, both were good and we have a little left over. My partner ordered the pica pollo and the fried chicken was decent. The food does take some time, and servers did not check in too often so I would recommend ordering ahead of time (unless you have a long lunch break), There are plenty of tables, but it is a little dark inside, 2 bathrooms inside. The juice was on the sweet side so just watered it down (wish they have smoothies), but they get 5 stars overall for the flavor and the price point. Plenty of parking as it's in located along other stores.

First, the one negative. There's a big neon sign in the window that says "Breakfast" and there was…read morenothing breakfast related on the menu. Maybe it was a time of day thing, but we went at 11am on Saturday so I figured it would be available. Not a big deal. Menu has lots of options. We got the bistec al caballo (the closest thing to a traditional "breakfast" I saw as it was steak and eggs) and the enchiladas suizas with chicken. Both plates were excellent. Not a traditional steak, more like a thin piece of flank steak that had been braised until tender, but not quite to the point where it was falling apart under its own weight. It paired well with the fried eggs and the salsa criolla. All served over a bed of white rice that absorbed all of the flavors nicely. I added a chile toreado on the side and chopped it up with the rest of the salsa criolla on top of the steak to give it a bit of heat. Highly recommended. The enchiladas were also excellent. Chicken looked and tasted like it was cooked in the same sauce as the beef. The chicken was a bit dry but the cheese and green sauce that covered the enchiladas more than made up for it. Served with beans and a bit of rice with peas and carrots, everything on the plate was great. If you don't speak Spanish, you may have trouble communicating with the server. I can't speak for everyone there but I'm fairly certain the server working when we went did not speak English. But they are on DoorDash, so this is also an option if you want to order delivery or takeout. Sign on the door said they were BYOB, but we didn't ask what the restrictions were or if there was any additional charge for this. It looked like they had a good selection of aguas frescas as well.

Even the tostones took at least 20 min, and that was the app... despite the slow service, the food really hit the spot. The tostones were phenomenal and were served with a tangy, sweet sauce. The bistec a caballo was filling and satisfying. The meat was tender and flavor. The yuccas were crispy. I enjoyed every part of the dish!

Large proportions, DELICIOUS, seasoned food. Affordable prices. Good service…read more There's plenty of seating and is suitable for large groups to dine in. They also offer takeout. Parking is limited and fill up quickly. Also support a small business and bring cash ;) FOOD: Papusa Revuelta (4.5/5): The chicharrón was shredded small and evenly applied throughout. The ratio was about 1:1 chicharrón to cheese. The flavor, ahhhh the flavor was soooo good. Personally, I would have preferred my papusa to be toasted and filled more. As another reviewer mentioned, the papusas don't taste as good when it sits, so eat then while they're hot. I can't comment on the curtido bc I don't like curtido. Almost all the papusas were $2.50 each. Sopa de Mariscos con Crema (5/5): This soup has bluecrab, fish, imitation crab, shrimp, mussels and vegetables. We got it with cream & the crushed red pepper on the side. I was expecting small chunks of fish and a crab claw. Nah, y'all getting a whole experience! There was a whole filet of fish, lots of shrimp, and half of a bluecrab. This soup was so good and filling! Filete Pescado con Camarones (5/5): The breading on the shrimp and fish was well seasoned. The shoe string fries were fresh and crunchy. I've never had Salvadoran rice but I prefer it over the regular Spanish - it's lighter and fluffy.

The staff and waiters are really friendly. Mostly speak. Spanish could use some bilingüe people to attend service for none. Hispanic people to make their service become faster. The place is pretty small and the tables were so small that we barely could fit in it. I wish they had this space more remodel with more room. The food is great. The flavor is excellent. Not too salty. Not to blend the salsa and the queso dips are pretty runny and water. I would recommend asking it with chili and Queso. The price is really good. I haven't had a lot of pozole in my life so don't take my word or anything. But I go here just for theirs. My partner always gets a sizzling plate of meat.
