Applecore's Bake Shoppe is still hitting the mark!! This is my go-to bakery for all things gluten free, vegan, and traditional baked goods. They have since moved to a spacious store front bakery within a small shopping center, with a few parking spaces directly out front, and plenty more parking spaces in the adjacent shopping strip. My all time favorite item is their sweet potato cheesecake, and a very close 2nd is their vegan lemon raspberry cake...and mind you, Im not vegan. Some of my friends and colleagues also enjoy their award winning (vegan) apple breading pudding...most of them are not vegan either ;), banana pudding cheesecake, and gluten free apple crumble, to name a few. And All of their bundlets are popular. Also, all of my gluten free homies absolutely love gluten free desserts from here, and consistently remark that these are the best gluten free treats they have ever had. Service is always warm and welcoming, and they take their time with every customer. And Mrs. Aisha (the owner) would always hook me up on short notice with treats for my people or special events. Chile... why can't cheat day be every day? So this little slice of heaven popped up on my TikTok feed and, after a few weeks of pretending I had self-control, I finally gave in. The culprit? Banana pudding on the menu. But imagine my shock when I saw Banana Pudding Cheesecake. Excuse me? I was convinced I invented that! But I said, "Okay, let's see what their version is about." What is their Banana Pudding Cheesecake about, you ask? Delectable sin. Pure, blush-inducing goodness. You ever eat something so good it makes you embarrassed that it's not chocolate? No? Stumbled upon this cute bakery during lunch. At first I was skeptical because it's vegan and gluten free but with the high ratings I had to stop by and check it out for myself. My daughter in law ordered a gluten free cake for my birthday when she arrived the cake was smaller than expected. It was also hard as rock..and difficult to cut... the icing was also hard and very very very sweet... No one could eat the cake... the strawberries on the top were clearly refrigerated and wilted. This was probably the worse cake I have ever had...I have been gluten free for 10 years and I felt horrible that my daughter in law spent quite a bit of money on a cake that no one ate.... It went in the trash... when I contacted AppleCores they refused to make it better... they suggested we give them another try ... They insisted that the cake had been tasted by their staff before selling it... The cake had an after taste and five people couldn't eat it... The appropriate thing to do was to recognize that this cake may not have been their best and allow us to have another cake or credit us... I would never recommend this Bakery ...ever... read more

So I'm back with another review! I was in the area and decided to try the bacon cheddar scone and apple brandy bread pudding, and they're both on the money!!! That scone was everything and then some! The bacon, cheddar, and chives were just the right mix. They weren't stingy with the bacon, and the scone had a delicious hint of sweetness! The bread pudding is downright delicious! Local bakery with kind employees who you can tell are really passionate about what they do. We tried a leek biscuit and a sweet potato mini bundt cake. Both were absolutely delicious. I didn't feel good after half of the Bundt cake. I think it was too sweet for me, but it did taste delicious. Prices aren't cheap but I don't mind paying higher prices to support small stores. read more

The business had a grand opening at their new location on Dobbin Rd. In Columbia last Saturday. They gave I samples to try. The samples were really good. The service was great. It didn't take too long to place and receive my order. I ordered Vanilla Bean icecream, mixed berry Danish, bacon, cheddar, and chive scone, and banana pudding cheesecake. Everything was so good. The inside of the business is very nice. I'm definitely going back to try other desserts and food items. read more

(PURCHASED DEC 7TH, 2024) So I was having a craving for some dessert goodness on a Friday. You know, one of those moments when you're craving something sweet after a long week at work and the gym. I came across this little hidden gem whilst going down a local bakery Google search rabbit hole. And boy I'm glad I did!! The misses and I got into the truck and headed on out. Now... this is where we messed up, I thought it was an actual brick and mortar store front, but sadly it's not. We drove around, and got lost for a couple mins before we actually called the number on online, and to our surprise, it was answered by the owner herself (Aisha). We eventually found it, but she politely told us that unfortunately you have to order in advance to pick up the pastries, but we could order them today, and she will bring them 1st thing in the am on Saturday morning, and they will be ready. "Deal!" We ordered the lemon bundt cake, brandy apple bread pudding, and sweet potato cheesecake before even leaving the parking lot. As you can see, I was committed to these treats. The following day, the misses drove out, picked up the PACKAGE, and called me immediately to say, "They look so good!" When I got home that evening I had to try them one by one, and let me tell you, these desserts were well worth the wait!! The lemon bundt cake hit all the right notes - moist, fluffy, with just enough lemon to make it interesting without overwhelming you. This was the misses favorite! But the sweet potato cheesecake? That's where things got serious. If you're a fan of sweet potato pie, and cheesecake, this here will blow your mind! I've had sweet potato cheesecake several times before, but this was the best one I've ever had. Lastly, the bread pudding. The BREAD PUDDING.... The real star of the show! The apple pieces were perfectly sized, and unlike many bread puddings that turn to mush, this one maintained a lovely texture throughout. While I couldn't really detect the brandy, it honestly didn't matter - each bite was so good I found myself rationing the slice to make it last longer. Definitely going back for more of this. I would give this place zero if possible. A few weeks ago we went for the first time. Had the lemon lavender cake. It was dry and average. Nothing Bundt cakes has a similar one and theirs is moist and flavorful. The cheesecake was better though quite pricey for a small slice. Today we went back to try their ice cream and support a local business. The staff was quite rude to my 4 year old daughter and me. We ended up leaving without buying anything which was very disappointing. We will not be coming back. The cake was moist, not overly sweet, and brought back nostalgic feelings of what my grandmother baked. A few weeks later, we went to a performance at the Meyerhoff. Applecore had a table of their amazing confections in the lobby. The owners are VERY personable and explained they even have gluten-free and vegan cakes. The raspberry desserts and sweet potatoe cheesecake my family and I ordered were lovely! So much flavor and richness. The raspberry cake in particular was delectable and tasted very original. I would love to get my hands on the recipe but instead I'll just have to come back ;). Another positive about Applecore's is they offer plenty of gluten-free and vegan options. And not just one option here and there but sundry to choose from, which is greatly appreciated and should benefit them in the long run! The gluten-free and vegan cakes I tried were delicious, but the GF cookies were truthfully quite crumbly and lacking in flavor. That would be my only complaint since I didn't find them quite polished/perfected and didn't end up eating those. Overall, this place has a lot to offer with stellar service.
