Ranch House is our go-to place for burgers in the RGV, and really, if I think about it, the entire state of Texas! I'm a burger guy and I've had them literally everywhere I go. Nothing compares to these. Every time we eat there, we ask, "What is it about the beef that makes them soooo good?", so finally we asked. The simple answer was that they let the meat speak for itself. Nothing but fresh, quality beef and a minimalist approach to spice. The lettuce is always fresh and crispy, the tomato is cut at just the right thickness, the onion never includes parts close to the dry outside or hard caps, and always plenty of pickles. If you haven't been there, give it a go, and if you're lucky it'll be on one of the days they have live music that is never too loud and always from solid talent. Server Amos is awesome! read more

Didn't get pictures but it was a good burger! This is a small business with good food! I had a bacon cheese burger with sweet potato fries. The patty was huge and seasoned just right, and my fries were cooked perfectly. Our server was friendly, fast, and informative and made great recommendations. My husband and I LOVE THIS PLACE! We come about twice a week, sometimes more often. The food is great! The crispy beef tacos are my fave with charro beans! My husband loves the Cowboy Bowl with dark gravy on the side. The Mac and Cheese is always a hit for him as well when he is a bit hungrier . We always sit at the bar wherever we go, it's just the two of us. It's Friday night tonight and at RHB Luis Garza always takes such great care of us. He knows what we drink and eat even though I change things up from time to time. He is very attentive to all sitting at the bar while still keeping on top of the wait staffs' drink orders. We feel like old friends when we come in and that means a lot to my husband and me. I think I need to mention that the RHB has awesome music! Not sure all the days when music is available- but we come Wednesdays and Fridays often and love the live music. Be sure to tip, as the music is free most nights. Sometimes they have bigger bands and even comedians on the stage and charge a small cover charge. We would highly recommend RHB. The entire staff all works together to make your visit enjoyable and I have confidence that they will make your visit enjoyable too. read more

The hamburgers were huge and tasted great!! I was a little sad at first that they didn't have any brisket left but my second choice had me forgetting about the brisket. I just had a bacon hamburger, but that hamburger was big, all the hamburger fixings were on the side with a mountain of pickles (btw I love pickles) The only downside of the visit was that we got almost 0 attention from our waiter and they weren't even busy yet, the majority of the servers were two tables over from us hanging out with another customer I'm assuming an old co worker or a friend. OMG!!! We LOVE this place! We are visiting from Dallas, Houston & Arkansas. We ate here 3 times -once at the Weslaco location- during our stay & chose it as a our last dinner. The food is consistently fantastic. The meat is flavorful & cooked perfectly. I think this is the best chicken fried chicken that I've ever had. The service is prompt & sincerely friendly. We felt like they were almost family- or better!!!! I have no clue where the poor service reviews come from. There is a daily special. I live in a very upscale part of Houston. I wish that I had a Ranch House Burgers in my neighborhood! They serve the plentiful veggie toppings separately so you can add what you want. Mayo, mustard & ketchup is provided as well. The John Wayne burger special is enough for 2 people or 2 meals. The Mission location has a bar. If I lived here, I'd definitely come hang out here to watch a game with beverages. We have been going here for burgers for about 4 years now. Always good food and service. Tonight I had the Pancho Villa burger. It's a good sized patty topped with Swiss cheese, bacon, jalapeño slices, sour cream, guacamole and tortilla chips. Messy but really good. My wife had the Texas Tumbleweed burger. It was topped with American cheese, onion rings and bbq sauce. She thought it was wonderful. Our waiter comped fries for both of us. Not sure why but it was a nice surprise. This is the classic American Texas hamburger restaurant. This place is exactly how I pictured a Texas restaurant. They have a bunch of different burgers you can order. I've been here more than once and have had the Fire in the hole burger and the tumbleweed burgers, both tasting amazing. The spice wasn't overwhelming, only complimenting the seasonings. The fries and onion rings were great as well. The service was extraordinary, always being attentive. Country vibe and esthetic inside. Lutz had the Fire in the Hole, and it had a lot heat! So much it killed his tastes buds and he ate the rest of my burger. And he thinks the patties were previously frozen. I don't thinks so because they were too salty, but you never know. We should have gone elsewhere, but you have to try new places and discover what you like and don't like. The meal itself to me was about 2 stars but I'll give it 3 for good service. We ordered the chili w/ cheese and chips as a starter. It wasn't that great....you could see a small layer of oil on top of the cheese. The flavor was okay....but too much oil. The chips didn't appear to be freshly made ....felt store bought. My wife ordered herself the grilled chicken salad....she did enjoy it. The salad was pretty large and the chicken was grilled just right. I ordered a cheeseburger with jalapeños and bacon...it's looks good but is lacking in flavor I think. I don't think the patties are frozen...to me they appear handmade but they need some serious seasoning. They are quite thick...were cooked nicely...but they needed some flavor to them. Even with bacon, cheese, and jalapeños...I felt like it needed flavor. The bacon itself needed more flavor....maybe add pepper to it or something to make it pop. The bread was toasted well... however I felt the bottom bun was way too thin. With such a thick patty....the bottom bun would've eventually broken apart. I actually ate burger flipped upside down lol. The fries were decent.... So 2 stars for the food however we did have really good waitresses so another star for them. read more

I love that they have the curbside feature, it is very helpful for moms with their kids in the car. The staff was very nice. The food on the other hand wasn't that great. The chicken breast in the Fire-Grilled chicken sandwich is less than 1/4th of a actual chicken breast!!! & half of that that is over toasted and burned! It was like eating jerky! Very disappointing. One of my four meals was wrong. I ordered a Big Bird Sandwich (Fried Chicken) and received a Big Bird Sandwich (Grilled Chicken) and again with an over toasted & burned slice of grilled chicken. All of the fries were cold/wrinkled/dry as if they were sitting out in the open for awhile! Not happy with my order! Not worth what I paid. I was recommended this place a few days ago so I decided to go today to check it out for dinner. It took longer than expected to get a table, considering there was plenty of open tables. Once we sat down our waiter was quick to get our drink and appetizer order (Fried Pickles). The appetizer came out pretty fast but that's about all the speedy service we were gonna get for the remainder of our dine in. After putting in my order (RGV Burger & Sweet Potatoe Fries) it took a while for our waiter to come back and ask us for re-fills. Once my burger did come out it was COLD. I was not disappointed at all (I also did not have a heart attack). It was exactly as expected but also high quality taste/ingredients. Despite having so much packed into it, it shockingly didn't fall apart while eating. Fries were crispy even after being in a delivery box. Gf ordered a chicken sandwich which was also awesome. Onion rings were not the best, and not worth the price. But I wasn't disappointed with them either... Will definitely order again. Probably not more than once a month though. I hadn't been to this location before so I didn't know what to expect. It sits in the middle of a plaza on north Bryan rd. in Mission. I ordered the Jalapeño Bacon Burger and I absolutely loved it. The meat was well cooked I personally don't like juices in my burger. It's a good size, I normally finish my meal but this time I had to take some home the burger was just huge. My date asked for the veggies on the side so our waiter brought mine on the side as well, wasn't expecting that. Veggies did look very fresh though. I would of preferred the jalapeños a bit spicier but they were still very good. The bacon was good, soft in some bites and crunchy in others not bad at all. I always add chilli and cheese to my fries anywhere they offer it and I'm glad I did that here. The flavor of their homemade chilli was amazing, nice and meaty with just the right combination of seasonings to give it that great taste. Blended with the melted cheese is like heaven on earth, it's the perfect match! I do recommend you eat it very warm if you want to really enjoy it, once they cool down I get a slightly different taste to them. The only thing I didn't enjoy much was the bread on the burger, it seemed a bit lighter than others, it crumbled and fell apart in every bite. It didn't feel soft at all at the contrary it felt a bit brittle. I honestly hope they change it soon. Service was great, will be back soon.
