    Carne Asada Taco
    Angela L.

I was craving tacos and saw that this place had good reviews. I ordered enchiladas (not pictured) which were pretty good (hence 2 stars) but the tacos were horrible...look at the piece of lard in my suadero taco. That's 1inch x 1inch of a chunk of fat. I'm particular about beef quality and this was not it. It had an aftertaste that I disliked. The fish taco was okay. The Al pastor tacos were okay. The meat was dry and was not anything spectacular. Flavor was also mid. I'd recommended hitting up a different joint or taco truck if you're craving. Or if you come here -- get the enchiladas. Sauces were mid too.

Friday night with Mom and the old neighbors. [She] read up about this place in Washingtonian or something and basically forced us all to go. Unfortunately, the fish taco (what was hailed as the thing to get) was out. I asked the guy at the register to suggest a good taco and he immediately said "al pastor!" which I added to the order... only for him to chase me down minutes later to say they were all out. So I told him to just choose. Bummer bummer. It's an order at the register and then take your table number thingy to a table process. Real annoying that the tip option comes up before you even get your food (or are told what you want is out). It feels a little like poncy 'gentrified' Mexican food, with prices to match. It was generally good, but I wasn't blown away, and wouldn't make a special trip.

I came on a Monday afternoon. Service seemed nice. Loved the decore of the whole place! Very cool. I ordered the verde verde salad. For a salad it went above and beyond my expectations. Greens were crisp and fresh, gotta love a block of seared queso! And the dressing and everything else that came on it, pepita seeds, avocado and zucchini ribbons were all delicious together. I'd go back just for that salad, although their entire menu looked delicious.

First, my food took much longer than expected. It wasn't very crowded and I only ordered two carne asada tacos. I ordered at 11:39 AM and got my food at 12:01. I was very disappointed by this since it wasn't busy. That makes me wonder how bad things are or could get on a busy day. The chips and guacamole are delicious! I recommend them to everyone. I need to mention that there is a seasoning on the chips. I loved it but it may not be for everyone. I got the carne asada tacos and would order them again. I was hesitant to order the tacos birrias but I will likely try it next time since I'm a fan of that style. The fish taco looked tasty. It's the first I've seen where the fish wasn't separated and it was more of a breaded one piece. The jalapeños on top could definitely be a plus for those that like picante! I know that's too much for me to handle. I feel like this taco would be delicious with a sauce of your liking to pour on top. The ambiance is great. The outdoor seating area is nice and comfortable. I like that it has normal height seatings and a standing bar height table too. I would try this place again but will ensure not to come when I'm very hungry or during a busy time.

Ambiance: super cute, each time I've been there's been a place to sit, and the parking outside is easy, thankfully! Service: good and fast, I also appreciate that they are knowledgeable about gluten free options :) Food: very good!! My husband and I both noted that it's one of the better Mexican food spots in the area and enjoy their tacos. It's getting hard to rate Mexican food spots because we try so many - and although this place is very good, I have also had slightly better. I'd still say 100% give this place a try and see how it rates for you!

This place was solid for quick tacos. I always go for Al pastor and I appreciate that they did not skimp on the pineapple and that it was actually cooked and soft. The salsa bar had some very tasty options. The fish tacos looked excellent as well. I will definitely need to try them next time. Service was always attentive.

I speak Spanish, but they had an English menu, so I ordered in English to make it simple. I clearly said steak and eggs -- not once, not twice, but three times maybe even more because the cashier didn't seem to understand -- and somehow they still brought me eggs and chips. When I pointed out that my order wasn't right, they brought me the receipt and told me I'd have to go pay for the steak first... which was annoying cause I said steak about 100 times when I submitted my order. Didn't feel like waiting so I decided to give the food a try but maybe my appetite was ruined. The tamal looked like a flat, sad flap I'll let you judge, and the horchata tasted like milk with sugar, the chips a soggy mess def not worth $59 and I left more annoyed than full.

The previous review saying these are the best tacos in Alexandria is Spot On! I cannot count how many times I've come here, and I always get the same thing now. The guac and chips is incredible with a huge portion and the VEGAN CHORIZO TACOS.... Dead! I always get three and never tire of the flavor. We always sit at the bar, and Jose always gives us the absolute best service. Come for happy hour and enjoy some discounted food and margaritas as well! And don't forget the fresh salsa, onions, limes, and cilantro bar!

Great service. Great food. Amazing atmosphere! I love all the items on the menu that are very authentic and prepared with care. My favorite are the chicken wings, yes, they make some very tasty wings that have you coming back for more. The frijoles charros is also one of my favorites. Cooked to perfection and taste. Tacos are very filled with protein and toppings and the salsa bar gives you an option to add more to your tacos. Staff is personable and very happy while working. You can feel their vibe even while enjoying your food. Great selection of margaritas and drinks. Best of all? I can walk to the place!

    Taco Suadero

Delicious. Worth repeating: Delicous. Stopped in for quick lunch tacos, choosing a suadero and barbacoa. Fresh, hot, and with generous potions of brisket and pork respectively. Interior was modern and clean. Staff friendly and attentive. Overall just a fantastic experience with zero complaints. If you're still buying tacos from a chain, you're missing out on these authentic gems from Picoso

Stopped in for take out dinner for two. In order of my favorites: fish taco, torta with al pastor, Baja shrimp taco, Al pastor taco and last was the lamb taquitos. The lamb taquitos were pricy and not good. For almost the same price you can get three tacos...get the tacos. The inside bar and dining room are large and the outside patio is large and welcoming. A great spot for groups. Uninspired decor but the flavors in the food make up for it. Delicious. Enjoy!

We arrived at 4:03 p.m. and left by 4:46 p.m. Our plan was to relax at the bar, enjoy happy hour margaritas, have appetizers, then dinner while watching the soccer match--a leisurely vacation evening. The hospitality, unfortunately, was lacking. Although our bartender wasn't rude, she seemed to be in a constant rush to get us to order, despite the restaurant being relatively quiet with only a few tables occupied. We even mentioned that we were hoping to enjoy a slow, relaxing evening, but we still felt hurried throughout our visit. The happy hour margaritas were very lime-forward with very little tequila. We switched to a regular menu margarita ("The Perfect"), but even that tasted weaker than expected. As tequila fans, we were disappointed. We also found the food to be far from authentic Tex-Mex. Having lived in San Antonio, I realize that's a high standard, but this didn't come close to what we expected. In the end, we asked for our food to go and left. We found another restaurant where we could relax and enjoy the kind of hospitality we had been looking for. I don't enjoy leaving critical reviews, but this was a disappointing experience, and unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

My friend chose Don Taco because it's one of his favorite spots, and he kept raving about how great the tacos were. And because really, you can't go wrong with chips, salsa, and drinks for a quick happy hour. The salsa which is not pictured had a great smoky kick, the tacos were very flavorful, fresh and hot. The host and waitress were very sweet, kind and attentive. The atmosphere was pretty cool, nothing to complain about. A lot of space, we sat upstairs which I enjoyed. The restaurant was clean, and I loved the mini fans placed throughout the space--perfect if you're feeling a little too warm or have enjoyed a few drinks! As for the service, it was a bit hit-or-miss. The young lady who took our orders was pleasant, but it took quite a while for drinks to come out. There were also several missing items from people's orders, which caused some frustration since those items had been ordered well in advance. Now, onto the food--the real star of the experience! Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals and had great things to say. I ordered a salmon taco, which I actually saved and ate the next day for lunch, and it was still delicious. The queso, however, wasn't a favorite among our group. On the other hand, the chips and salsa were a hit. The mocktails were excellent, and everyone seemed to enjoy their cocktails as well. Despite a few service hiccups, the food, drinks, and atmosphere made for a great experience. I would definitely visit again.

I thought the enchiladas were good but really needed substantially more cheese and red sauce because they were kinda dry. But there was a question about the preparation of the margaritas. JP requested his first margarita be agave free (i.e. not sweet). It turned out great. But when JP and our friend ordered another round, the second round was yellowish orange instead of green, and they were sweet. Our server insisted the margaritas were made the same way the second time. She did agree to have them re-made, but the remade ones were identical to the ones that we sent back.
