Found this taqueria on google maps while searching for good Mexican in rural Stockton. It was about a 20 minute drive which is typical to drive to any food location. The tacos here are great, the asada was well grilled and the salad goes perfect with the cilantro and onion. I'm not a big fan of Spanish rice so I thought it was okay. The beans were good but were not my favorite. I have returned since this first visit and have only bought the tacos which have not disappointed so far. It's safe to say I will be returning as often as I can to get some more tacos. I give the tacos a 5/5. The tostada de ceviche was good but it needed more lemon/lime. There's lime in the refrigerator where you can help yourself so I added some to my liking. I give the tostada a 3/5. We also had a giant quesadilla which came with guacamole and sour cream. It was pretty big! The quesadilla gets a 4.5/5. Rated by my boyfriend who actually ate it. Lastly, we had some Mexican sodas: sprite and coke. They also have aguas frescas: hibiscus water, horchata and pineapple. We tried the pineapple one. It was refreshing. 4/5. read more

This is hands down my favorite taqueria in Riverbank! I order from here on the regular and normally get the two tacos plate ore the fajitas plate! Have been to this place twice now. The place is alright. Nothing too special about this place to be honest. I had the enchilada plate this past visit. I ordered green enchiladas but was given the red sauce. I asked the waiter about it and he said he they had no green sauce to begin with. The chicken was plain, did not have any taste to it. The rice and beans were bland as well. The burritos are pretty good when it comes to portion size. It is way more than one person can eat. What I do enjoy about this place is that the service is very quick. You do not have to wait for your food for no more than ten minutes. read more

I ate at Taqueria San Jose for the first time today. I ordered the super quesadilla with carnitas. I was given complimentary chips. The chips were very chewy and stale like they had been sitting under the heat lamp for quite a long time. I asked for fresh ones and she said they were all the same. I got the feeling that they might have even been yesterdays. My quesadilla came and was tasty, although the presentation could have been better. No folding. Just two small tortillas stuck together with the filling coming out the sides. It was somewhat messy to eat and hard to cut. I probably won't go back. read more

Check the prices they are charging, the prices on the menu are not what they charge you when you pick up and pay for your food . I was charged 14 dollars over and wouldn't of realized it unless I reviewed my receipt . Consistently good food. Salsa bar is tops. A great little stop in Riverbank for lunch or dinner. They have breakfast as well, but I haven't had that. Yet. Not up to par with Taqueria San Jose on Coffee Rd in Modesto. What is lacking? Diners- Noone wants to be the only customer, it begins to feel odd real quick. Service is speedy but this doesn't mean the food is better than local competitors. Other local Taquerias offer much more flavor, meat to bean/rice ratio; and a properly wrapped burrito. Noone wants a hard edged burrito you can drive nails home with. One and done at this location... There is really no reason to spend the same amount of $$$ with other local fares offering better food and options. read more

Let me just say my carnitas super burrito was so dry I had no sour cream or guacamole like said on the menu nor did I get the lettuce or tomatoes as said. I was thinking it may have been just my food but nope my daughters burrito that I asked just bean meat and cheese was incorrect my daughter refused to eat her food! Ordered hard shell tacos and the shells where stale, got replaced quickly. ordered French fries to go one time and they literally forgot them, we called and it was I'm sorry you can pick them up in 10min. Another time I was told by the waitress that what she was eating was made off the menu and we couldn't order it, because it was specially made just for her? Ummm okay? Rude! The waitress is snobby and looks like she doesn't want to be there. She is rude all the way around. Every time we come here, she has her same stank ass attitude! I continue to tell my husband this is the last time we're coming but end up back because the food is good and maybe I read the waitress wrong? But no, I'm at the point where fuck the food, and this bitch! Co-worker told me about this place - been by the shopping center many, many times but just hadn't seen it. Did my normal taqueria review order - tacos, pastor and lengua. Went back and forth between four stars or five - but think based on the pastor taco alone they deserve a five today. Probably one of my favorite pastor tacos ever - meat, great flavor, tender throughout. The grilled the tortilla a bit more - gave a surprisingly good crunch and the chile was a bit hotter than most - just enough to get a good sweat going!! Filled with meat too - was told two tacos should be enough (I normally order four) and they were right. And at just $2.00 per taco - well worth it!!The lengua was very good - not the best ever but better than most. Simple salsa bar - but grilled jalapeños are always a nice touch. I was very disappointed with our recent purchase. We ordered a chicken enchilada dinner. When we got home we were surprised to see that the enchilada size looked like a child size enchilada. I don't believe it was even 4 inches long. I called the restaurant to inquire about if this was a child size and I was informed that no this was the size of their enchiladas. The owner basically let me know that if I was unhappy I could go somewhere else so I will take his advice and go somewhere else never will I return to his restaurant. Very disappointed! read more
