Taqueria El Sol de Mexico is always a winner in our house. My wife loves it, so whenever she says "let's go," I'm all in. The service is friendly, the crowd is lively, and the TVs are usually playing soccer or Spanish shows. Chips and salsa are spot on--the green squeeze-bottle salsa packs a spicy punch! I've been looking for a great taco place in my neighborhood. I've tried different food trucks, restaurants and I am glad we've got hungry on late Friday night. We decided to try this place oh boy I think I found my go to taco place. I love their fajitas, barbacoa and pollo tacos on fresh flour tortillas. The only let down is their Al pastor. Their pastor is a little soupy considering it is a pork bbq with pineapple. I love their tostadas with everything on it. Definitely I'll go back to this place. read more

First time visit, my grandson ordered a shrimp taco and all it had was a little shrimp and nothing else, My husband had 3 carne asada tacos and he said it was not bad, but the rice was not completely cooked. My Grandaughter had the chimichanga and the chicken was good but the burrito was not fried and the gravy was not great. I had a mixed burrito and it was just ok. We came because of the 4 stars but in my opinion no more than 3 stars. read more

While In the Conroe area found this place nearby and ate here with my dad. Super cheap prices for both of us with sodas it was $15 bucks. He had breakfast pork chop with beans egg and potato. I opted for breakfast tacos chorizo egg and potato bacon and egg. They do serve chips and salsa which to my surprise had a great Amt of heat which was amazing! The food and drinks are always good, but I don't appreciate that they tried to tell me my service dog was not allowed. No other restaurant I've been to has ever been an issue, as my service dog is impeccably behaved and professionally trained, as well as a medical necessity for me. When I tried to explain to them that it was against the law to deny my service dog, they told me I could sit on the patio. It was winter and it was freezing outside so I just left instead. Came here after getting my tires checked out from the shop across the street. I was craving donuts or tacos that morning and tacos won! You can either dine in (inside and outside seating) or go through the drive through. I opted to go through the drive through. Since it was my first time, I was not familiar with the ordering process but the waitress helped me out by giving me a menu. I ordered some bacon egg & cheese tacos & some chorizo (different name on the menu ... can't remember) and egg tacos. If you have an idea of what an "authentic" taco tastes like then you would definitely love this place. I believe it is family owned which makes this place that much better because they put their heart & soul into the food. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely stop by. read more

The best breakfast tacos in the area are at Taqueria del Sol de Mexico. Our favorites are the chorizo/egg, potato/egg, bacon/egg/cheese, and the carne guisada. Love the green hot sauce. I like that their potatoes are soft and not crunchy. The carne guisada is tender and has a rich gravy, unlike some other places around. The flour tortillas are always so fresh and good. The only negatives would be the location, ambience (usually get takeout, but on occasion dine in) and the way the tacos are packaged--if you order two, they put them both inside one piece of foil and it can get a little sloppy. Also, the drive-thru window isn't well-placed. You'll have to pull in and make a u-turn to get in the line and it can become annoying, if you have called ahead, and you get behind someone just now placing an order at the window and they aren't asked to pull-up--but instead, they are allowed to sit at the window and wait. Still, great food and friendly service. read more

I had the gorditas and the cactus and I am honestly So disappointed at the fact that I have not tried this place before!!! They were AMAZING and authentic ! The gorditas were crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside and the meat (pork skin, tripa, and milanesa) was really tasty! The salsas were good and the gorditas were pretty big! I was at this taqueria tonight, the service was ok and so was the food. Unfortunately I found a hair in my enchilada when I was halfway done with it I hadn't noticed it until then, when I mentioned this to not 1 but 3 of the waitresses they kinda ignored me didn't apologize or act like it was a big deal. Later when we received the check they didn't mention if they had taken off the enchilada or not. Mind you I don't need to have the whole plate comped I just wanted that hairy enchilada off. When I went to go ask the manager if they comped it, he immediately answered that he had already talked to the owner and basically he stated that I probably put the hair on it myself and that there was no way to prove that came like that from their kitchen and that I had already eaten half.... He also stated his waitresses where told to inform me it was comped off. He basically blew me off and called me a liar. I have no reason to lie, I can pay for cheap enchiladas the problem here was that they made a mistake and then turned the blame on the costumer. So basically if you enjoy hairy enchiladas and rude management this will be your go-to spot. read more

I love to go visit little dives like this to see why they are so crowded. I ordered multiple different tacos from pig skins, head, tongue, etc to see if its authentic. What they gave me was kittle jewels from heaven in a brown paper bag. Each taco was perfect and tasted different from the other. Super fresh and even the tortillas were grilled and had a great taste to them. What i loved so much is each taco you could taste each ingredient. Chicharrón were my favorite for sure followed by the Lengua. I wanted hotter salsa than the green. Next time ill see if they have hotter. Id show pics but i ate them all.
