Tsunami Trio: Baja Taco, Rich Man's Taco, & BBQ Short Rib with a side of Tots & Queso
    Shannon A.

Light yet so filling is how I could describe these meals! If you're hungry, this will definitely satisfy you yet you won't leave feeling extremely bloated so the portion size is perfect! I really enjoyed the tacos & nachos as it was packed with flavor and freshness! They have a number of unique Latin - Asian inspired dishes. My favorite part is that you're able to mix/match your tacos which I definitely recommend. I went during lunch on a weekday and we were seated right away. I feel like they may get crowded during peak hours but may not take too long to wait for a table. The restaurant was clean & we received great service!

We were headed to the nearby movie theater and wanted to grab a bite before the show, so we stopped at Tsunami. I was encouraged to see a promotional Sweetwater Brewing sign out front. Inside, we approached the host podium where three staff members were talking to each other and it took them a minute to realize we were there. Once they did, they handed us a couple of menus and we were led to a huge booth. I asked about a high top, but was told no one was working that section, so we settled in at the booth. Our server quickly came over to check on us. She was very nice and personable, and said she'd bring waters while we looked over the menu. The beer list was just okay. About six craft options and a handful of bottles and cans. When our server, Aldshar, returned, we were ready to order a couple of beers. Wifey went with the Taqueria Tsunami Lager. I tried to order something I had not tasted before, the Yazoo Hopry Hazy IPA, but they were out, so I settled on a SweetWater 420 Pale Ale. For food, Wifey went with the chicken quesadilla and I opted for the Tsunami Quatro taco meal. This meal comes with 3 tacos and 1 side. I mixed it up and ordered 3 different tacos; Thai chicken, Aloha Chicken Taco and Pacific Rim Mahi Mahi taco. Our server let us know the rice and beans was not great that day because the rice was a little overcooked. I appreciated that honest tip and helped us look for a few not so typical sides . Wifey chose the fried yuca, and I went for the tots with jalapeno queso. The interior dining room is very spacious, with plenty of seating and a big bar. I even noticed a few tables outside. At first glance, the place looked spotless, but as I looked a little closer, the table felt a little sticky, there was a random chip under the booth, and during a quick bathroom run I noticed what looked like dried ketchup on the wall. Our food came out fast. My trio of tacos looked great, and everything tasted fresh. I enjoyed all of them and they all had their own unique flavor. The Quatro taco meal was a winner for me. Wifey said her quesadilla tasted fresh too, but it needed something extra. The tortilla could've used a little more time on the grill, and the filling was just shredded chicken with a thin layer of cheese. A few vegetables or a sauce would've helped because it was a little on the dry side. Overall it was a good visit to Tsunami, but our server stood out. She took great care of us, stayed upbeat the whole time, and we even found out she was a fellow ex-New Yorker. The manager stopped by a couple of times to check in, which I appreciated. I am sure we will be back since it is so convenient for movie night. 3.5 rating

Nice restaurant, clean, quick service. Full bar and booth and high top seating. There are some tasty fusion items on the menu, everything tastes good. The restaurant itself was slightly underwhelming, so I left off a star. It's a good place to grab a quick bite and meet up with friends. The protein options for the salad are Shrimp, Short Rib, Tofu, and chicken ... I thought they could expand on that a lil bit. Free parking in the adjacent Publix parking lot.

    Empanadas and Avocado tacos

Excellent food. Empanadas were filled with meat. Very tasty v3 large ones to a plate Avocado egg roll also was very delicious. Service has been excellent Well worth it to dine here.

Customer Service is always going to set the tone for your experience, no matter how good/bad the food is. So with that said, our server Deidre? 20/10!! What a VIBE she was. She really came that ENERGY. I had just come off of a 12 hour day at work, and she was just the right person to encounter. My friend and I, for starters ordered the Chips and Guac. The guac, is definitely a shareable item FYI, its HUGE, but you can tell it is freshly made. For drinks, which were 10/10 btw: we ordered the Mango Sangarita, and the Spicy Piña Margarita For our entrees, we order the Tsunami Trio, which consists of your choice of two tacos and a side. My friend ordered the Baja Taco and the Korean Fried Cauliflower Taco, her sides were chips and salsa. I ordered the Baja Taco and the Asada Zing Taco, for my side I ordered tater tots paired with a jalapeño queso and ya'll OMG. The tacos were ON point. But that queso??? I don't even like jalapeños like that, but that was goooood!!! I was surprised to have liked this place as much as I did, especially considering its location. Madison Yards is very cute, but I was nervous this was going to be a trendy place with some mid food. Glad I was wrong ...

Employees were nice. Maybe a little slow in the store. The rice was mushy, so they got me a side of Yuma Fries instead and those were super yummy. Very glad they were willing to fix without asking. The patio is a great spot with nice breeze with the occasional driver passing by with music blaring. Typical ATL. Tacos are a little small. However pack big flavor. They don't have Sesame Fries here, but the tots and queso or Yuma Fries seem to be a good compromise. Solid place to come after a movie or before a movie.

The service was good. Our server was attentive although I was charged for a drink that was supposed to come free with the kids meal, but it worked out because they fixed the check. It's an open area restaurant with booths, high tables, and regular seating. There's also a full bar. Lots of sunlight. Baby the Thai chili empanadas were so good I want some RIGHT NOW! The peanut sauce on the side was the perfect complement. Best part is it comes with three!! That made me happy! Now the churros were a disappointment. It came with vanilla ice cream, but it had no filling which is my fav! They also didn't have any cinnamon or sugar. Maybe a dash of sugar. We asked for powdered sugar on the side which set it off so I recommend asking for that to make it worth your while. For drinks I had the Mango Sangrita. It was really good made with Don Julio! Yum! Overall I will DEFINITELY come back for those empanadas honey!

Great ambiance, always nice service, food has always been good for me. I am always shocked at how empty this place is because it's a clean and very nice place to eat. I've never seen it packed out. I love the Asian Nachos and empanadas.

I'll start with its OK. As I watched the evolution of Madison Yards... I understand the appeal. I'm just too much of a taco snob to be their target market. The place looks like a great casual dining establishment. Somewhat generic l... swap the wall art, and it could be another restaurant. Service was prompt. Food was even faster. I'm talking... we just got our apps and maybe 2-3 bites, and the entrees were out... The Short Rib Empanada was interesting. They were filling and exactly as described... they were like Chopped bbq brisket simmered in BBQ sauce. It was sweeter than I prefer... but I'm happy I tried them. The quesadilla... specifically, the Steak Quesadilla is a no frills meat cheese, and tortilla there was chipotle sauce on the side, but something was missing. The meat was juicy, but the quesadilla felt dry. The Tuna Poke Bowl was good. No complaints. The tuna tasted fresh, and the bowl was well built. The miss of the day was the sangria flight. I LOVED the idea and am glad I got the flight to know that sangria at a taco spot is a hard pass. The red sangria was super sweet, the white sangria had no defined flavor, the pear sangria was ok...and the watermelon was just nasty. The presentation was pretty, and the garnishes were fresh, but the sangria itself tasted like a syrup added to a wine base. I won't be back. It is not a reflection of the establishment. I just didn't enjoy the food. Parking is easy, the restaurant was clean, our server was fast, and food was served hot...I just didn't like the food.

rich man's taco and asada zing
    Christina K.

First of all, I have to say the service here is EXCELLENT. The person who seated us was sooo nice and chatty and our server was equally kind! It just gave me good vibes. They're also super flexible if you don't want something on your dish or you want to add something, they have no issues doing so. I like that you can get just tacos a la carte, or a combo where you can get two tacos and a side or three tacos and a side. I decided to go with two tacos and a side. I was considering three tacos because I didn't know how much they would fill the tacos, but I'm glad I only got two because it was enough food. I got the asada zing taco and the rich man's taco with a side of tater tots and jalapeno queso. The tater tots were so good and paired so well with the jalapeno queso. It was delicious! I wish I loved the tacos as much. They definitely did a good job cooking the steak, it was medium rare and juicy, however for both tacos, they lacked depth of flavor and also for both tacos, the veggies on top were way too cold and caused the meat to be lukewarm when I ate it so that was not a super enjoyable experience. The asada zing taco was just extremely plain, like did they even marinate the steak? It also needed salt for sure. The rich man's taco had a little more flavor but again it was just okay. I went with a friend and she got the chicken enchilada bowl and I had a bite of that and I will say that was excellent so I don't know, maybe the chef was just having an off day or something. I would come back and get the chicken enchilada bowl for sure!

"The Quatro": 3 tacos, 1 side. Pictured here (from top): Baja, Thai chicken, and Korean fried cauliflower with yucca fries as side
    Caroline Y.

This place is solid. Asian fusion with some really appetizing combos of flavors for tacos, Bowls and drinks. The Asian nachos were pretty tasty -- wonton chips as the base, queso, short rib, diced tomatoes and cilantro. As my meal, I opted for "The Quatro": 3 tacos of your choosing with 1 side -- Baja (fried fish, my fave!), Thai chicken (just OK.. decent flavor but large piece of chicken relative to the taco size), and Korean fried cauliflower (also just OK... the cauliflower was good) but the taco needed more flavor -- maybe more sauce needed?). The yuca fries as the side were amazing -- perfectly fried and crunchy with a yummy aioli to dip in. Quantity was solid and the value was amazing -- $15 for the entree. I got the guava cooler as my drink and was a bit underwhelmed -- some guava flavor but pretty light. There are many yummy looking cocktails though, so I'd go again and try something else. All in all, I'd go here again but choose different items (except would absolutely get the Baja fish taco, yuca fries, and the Asian nachos again).

Visited this place on a Tuesday night just for the vibes. The tacos were good. The staff was nice. The drinks were amazing. I would definitely visit again when in the Atlanta area. The short rib, empanadas, and nachos are to die for.

When are y'all going to fix your website? There are so many items you can't order because of errors. The Asian nachos can't be selected because there's no option to choose rib or beef. When you order empanadas only 1 type is listed. It goes on and on

I like anything that's close to a speakeasy or hidden bar so this was really up my alley. So it's in Summerhill. You can pretty much park wherever you can find parking. There may be street or there may be a lot but there's still plenty of parking because there's a bunch of stuff on this block. And you don't have to worry about paying so that's a plus. You'll find the building that's painted and then take that door and go downstairs into the basement. Considering how light and bright the neighborhood is, the actual basement itself is pretty dark and kind of intimate. It's very dimly lit with candles but it gives it some character. I'd already eaten and drunk so I just stopped in for one more drink before I left the side of town. I only really had one drink but it was a pretty good drink. The bartender was the only reason I didn't give it a five-star rating. I thought that the vibe was good and the cocktail was good and the general aesthetic was very pleasing but she didn't actually act like she wanted to serve anybody at the bar. I'm a bartender so I know that service definitely matters. The patrons can pick up on when you're not energetic or at least trying to be energetic with them and I definitely pick that vibe up. We asked what the favorite drink of hers was and she said whatever the easiest drink was. Also asked what were the favorite drinks of the general population. She said all of them. She didn't give any thought to answering the question, didn't even try to lie about it. LOL. I have the M&M Manhattan and it was good. It's a smoky style drink so if you're not into mezcal smoke, you may not like it but I thought it was very savory and not too sweet whatsoever. Overall I would definitely go back. Outside of what I was picking up from the bartender, it's a really good vibe and you can probably walk from multiple places on this block and then end up here as a last cocktail before the night's over.

This place kind of gives a slight speakeasy vibe since the sign isn't visible (if it weren't for the corded of line and bouncer outside, you might miss it), and the inside of it was absolutely breathtaking with its art deco-like interior--I mean they honestly know how to make a first great impression. The only item I ordered when I was there was a classic margarita (although they had other enticing drink options), which was great and had a slight heavy pour (which I prefer)! Hot tip: check out their instagram stories if you want to see who's DJing that night, so you can see if it's your vibe. I, unfortunately, forgot to do that that night, but the music was great for the most part! The only issue is that the DJ would switch between a great fast-paced Afrobeats or Hip-Hop song and slow R&B jams, which kind of killed the vibe a bit for me, but I still had a time! It was basically empty at that time but we didn't mind because it gave us time to sit and eat. The DJ arrived a little before 10 p.m. and the crowd started to come in. Before it got crowded, we ordered the tostones appetizer and the ropa vieja. The tostones were good and crispy and gave more of a plantain chip texture. It came with 3 sauces and I thought the green sauce was a garlic sauce but it was more herby with a little acid. Either way, we enjoyed it. The ropa vieja was delicious! The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned. Now, the rice was a coconut rice and it was a little sweeter than I prefer but the savory flavor of the beef helped. The service was good and at times too attentive. I know that sounds crazy to say because sometimes you go somewhere and have to search for your server but our server came to ask us how everything was every 5 minutes. It was hard to get into our conversation because he came over so much but I guess that's better than nothing. By the time we left a little after midnight, the place was crowded. The crowd was mixed in every way but seemed to be more young people. The DJ was really good and played a lot of mixes (i.e. an amapiano version of "I want to dance with somebody". Good vibes.

The service was fantastic from start to finish, and the seasonal menu was perfectly curated. We started with the fry bread and the olives and focaccia. Both were amazing, but the pepperoni butter that came with the fry bread was everyone's favorite. For my main, I ordered the lamb pappardelle, which was delicious. The pasta was fresh and the ragu was so flavorful. I also got to try the scallop ravioli and the potato parfait that came with the strip steak--all of it was beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. As we were leaving, we noticed they were setting up a DJ booth for some live music. It looks like a really fun spot, and we can't wait to go back!

There's a large drinks menu that I can't comment on a teetotaler. I would've preferred a couple more non-alcoholic options, but I was able to get a flavored soda water so I didn't feel completely left out. The starters were the star of the menu to me. I had a great time ordering and sharing with my party, trying a bit of everything. Everything was delicious and beautiful. My single critique is that I wanted more of several items which is hardly a critique at all. Unfortunately I was somewhat let down by the vegan main which was a risotto with seasonal veg. The flavor was a little thin and it felt like a bit of an after thought compared to the other mains at my table. While I'm glad there's a vegan option, I'm not actually vegan! I just wanted the seasonal veg made to the chef's preference and was disappointed with the result. Everyone else at the table was thrilled with their meals though! Overall it was a tasty and enjoyable experience, though a few changes could've made it better.
