Took a chance on this place because it didn't have many reviews. I was looking for some tacos and I didn't want to go to my usual spot because the prices are kind of high, especially when I could just go to a truck. At the time non of the trucks or stands near me were open so I decided to give this a try. I'm so glad I discovered this gem. The asada tacos are fantastic!!!!! The meat has so much flavor and is super tender and moist without being greasy, which is KEY!!! The guy who helped me had a really great customer service attitude as well. I'm definitely coming back. Reasonably priced tacos and burritos, served in a tiny dining area. It does take a while to prepare the food, even when it didn't seem to be busy, but it's worth the wait. Think of it as a glorified taco stand. Just give yourself plenty of room in your stomach for the food (the portions are rather large) and plenty of time during your lunch break. ---Carne Asada Taco Challenge--- Wen Chef VS King Taco Wen Chef Taco has a fresh, slightly sweet flavor, good balance of spice, King Taco more smoky, savory & more heavily seasoned with a nice char on the meat, Both had perfect amounts of diced onion, some cilantro. The red sauce served on the side---Wen Chef's has great flavor and didn't catch my face on fire. King Taco although tasty and smoky was just too hot for us. Of course we tried a 'King' Taco with Wen Chef sauce which was great. Very nice!!! They are both so delicious, it's a very close call. Because of the heat of the sauce, if I HAD to choose, I'd go with Wen Chef. Rarely a wait to order at WC and food is served pretty quick, KT is pretty slow even if no wait to order. There's always a crowd waiting for their food. Both of these tacos would be amazing with a mango or pineapple salsa. WC has a few small tables and is best To-Go. Parking not great but we've always found a spot. (Would be so great if they delivered!!!) KT has much seating and parking. Neither have a drive thru. Solid hole in the wall taqueria. Located on the corner of Lakewood and Artesia with a small parking lot. It's a really small establishment with a few tables and chairs. There is a plethora of choices between the protein to the type of food you want from tacos to sopes to tortas to nachos and more. Extremely reasonably priced to considering the quantity of food they give you. Only knock is the carne asada I got was a bit salty. I just went yesterday and I ordered 2 large waters, the pineapple and Horchata like I always do and they gave these tiny cups and I was like no I wanted large and the cashier said that's the only size they have and I said nooo I pointed to the tip cup they have and said that's the cup size I always get when I say large and then she said they changed it to one cup size only. The cup is tiny for $4 what a rip off! They should have a sign or let customers know about the change. Definitely a to go spot because there's only two chairs inside with no A/C, just a heads up. The portions are huge and very reasonably priced. Most tacos are 1.75 per taco everyday and they're overfilled with meat to the point that it's falling out. Their salsa roja is my favorite, the perfect spice level and freshness to complement the tacos without being overwhelming. My absolute favorite meat is the Al Pastor, the asada is also good! I had to leave a review!! The service was great and I appreciated the cashier answering all my questions with no problem. The ambiance was a very clean pick up and go stop. The food was delicious.
