Houston's authentic Mexican street food or home cooking food should be defined by Taquerias Arandas. My parents are immigrants from India and they synonmize this franchise with a real Mexican experience. I'm very confident that I've never had the same dish twice and frequently try something new each time. Enchiladas that aren't made with melted cheese are a brand new concept for me, so I was thoroughly surprised by this dish. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but likely will not have it again. The meat was so tender and the vegetables were soft and delicious. In the end, my favorite part of the meal was the fresh and generous portion of orange juice. Sweet enough to be satisfying, but not sugary to the extent that it tastes unhealthy. I'm not even a fan of pulp, but this was perfect. I always endulge in mixing salsas, but be warned that the green stuff is extremely spicy. The price is way too high for the quality of food but I wouldn't mind paying if the service was great, the waitresses are lazy and I had to look for her to do her job, she gave me a container after waiting for her and finally getting her attention but no bag and she dares to give me a face (attitude)when she didn't received a huge tip. Went to the Airline location for breakfast..Guess, there is a shortage on Potatoes ..I was able to get 4 little squares with my breakfast..Lol Next time I will bring one from home! On Sunday May 18, we order some nachos and a filete de pescado. It was the worst fish I've ever taste. In town for the weekend, hunger hit late at night, and Arandas has always been a must stop when in town. Tortillas and meat were seasoned well, portions were generous and the food was warm even after driving back to our hotel. Their drive through is a huge +. When ordering, I deliberately asked for extra limes with my order, and sadly, I got zero limes with my order. Maybe checking your order before you leave their location would help. Very nice interior. Newly renovated (late 2017) The food is fresh and prepared and served looking just like the pictures in the menu. The staff is kind and they check regularly to see if your in need. Prices are decent. They do serve alcohol and have TVs so you can catch your favorite sports team or Novella. No Patio. I should have known better when most restaurants in the area are full. This place looks like a ghost town. I threw caution to the wind and ordered anyway. The shrimp my wife was served was at best, room temperature, at worst, raw. My breakfast ham and eggs was old, the bacon was burned and crispy. The cook probably had it made since this morning and just threw it in the microwave. It's 2:30 am and I'm suffering from Montezumas revenge. I will NEVER visit this location again, EVER!!! read more

Not sure why this place isn't rated higher unless it's due to being more authentic than some like. The restaurant is really well decorated and designed which surprised me. The wait staff spoke minimal English but provided good service. I had the enchiladas and they were delicious. The beans were good and rice was ok. My friend had some pork and chicken tacos and really enjoyed them. They had some kind of house made spicy sauce which was amazing. I would have purchased some if they sold it. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants! The taquitos plate has five taqueria size tacos with your choice of meat. I like it with the beef fajita. The green sauce has a hot kick to it and is addicting. Chips and salsa were not provided with the to-go order. It may be an additional charge, not sure on that one. They also have fresh juices. For a fast food Mexican food restaurant, this place does really well. And the service I get is top notch. I usually call my order in 15 min before i arrive and it's always hot and ready There is a lady who works the drive thru here during the day, she always makes sure I'm taken care of and my order is correct. One time I left my debit card and she called me to tell me because I had already driven off. They got a customer in me for life. Food is good, not great. I don't see how anybody could eat here really. I've been here several times hoping for the best. But that never happened. I had re fried beans and rice. The beans were water. Like really thin. Not a thick re fried beans. It had no flavor like it came out of a can put into a bin, and like when most of the beans ran out it seemed like somebody just threw water in their to make up for the loss of beans or some crap like that. I don't know how I imagined that. I'm just saying OK that's how it felt to me. The rice was hard bits. It tasted like half boiled rice with Mexican seasoning thrown in and stirred. It was really bad. I had tried other stuff like a bean and cheese soft taco that was the same watered down crap in a tortilla. The cheese was greasy. I don't recommend this place at all. The staff does not speak English well, only the owner so expect to get your order screwed up or having to repeat your order to them more like 5 times. It's OK on the inside. Their drive Thur is weird because there use to be a menu sign when you went thru... but no they hand you a menu while you sit in the car and wait. More like just driving your car into the building and sit there. Might as well do that because it's not a fast food drive thru. It was just strange. The whole place is weird to me. I love this place so much. I haven't been inside since covid, but the food is just as fresh when you pick it up. The green salsa is absolutely delicious and chips are always crispy and not oily. We get the combination appetizer plate with mixed beef and chicken, the taco plate, the #1 with beef and cactus, and my mom likes some sort of chicken and seafood concoction.
