My wife and I have done some exploring in this area for our Mexican place, we are pretty specific(she is Mexican and often travels there). This is now our go to place. We like the salsa, (loaded with cilantro), the prices are good for the amount of food you get and it tastes very authentic. The service has apparently gotten better than when others wrote their reviews because it is always busy when we go in at dinner but the waiters constantly check on you and they provide food relatively quickly. Last time we had Antonio and he was really good. Is it the best Mexican food I've ever had? No. But this is killeen, I think it's the best we can do. read more

The pound of barbacoa has nothing but fat, so I decided not to get that anymore. The carne asada taste cheap. The queso tastes burnt and old. Like only thing the haven't changed is their salsa. Decor: This restaurant is very festive and colorful. I loved the colorful chairs and tables. Food: The dishes were decently priced and the servings were fairly standard. My sandwich was huge about the size of two of my fist together and it only cost me less than $5. It had guacamole, tomato, barbacoa and I think mayo. I order my daughter a taco and it was very simple. It contained a few pieces of chicken, lettuce and tomato but it only cost me less than $2 so I guess I can't complain. My two other friends ordered the enchiladas and there entrees came with rice and beans. There complimentary salsa was okay. This was my first visit and it won't be my last. I'll come bAck to try something else. The tacos I ordered were good and had a nice amount of meat on them. The guacamole was enjoyed by both myself and 3 year old. The house salsa they serve when your seated along with tortilla chips was delicious! Service was actually good between our waitress and what appears to be the manager. Our food was out within what seemed to be at most 5 minutes. I only gave 3 stars because this was our 1st visit and I want to leave room for improvement. If we could do half starts I would do a 3.5. I would've given them a four star but 2 things irritated me 1 I ordered Fajitas and ask the Waitress for a little extra sour cream she brings me a container and then charged me $3.50 for it . 2 someone was playing the jukebox and it was so loud you couldn't talk to each other. ( Sunday football not Friday in the club ) People were there trying to watch the game and they had to yell just so they could hear what they were saying to each other. Not just to cheer. The customer service here is horrible. First time I went they gave us the table and took our drink orders. Never came back until I had to go to the hostess and ask for some water. No big deal. But then when it took over an hour for our food to come after they had already brought the wrong order out. The food was cold and a little over done. Now I figured I would try them again and see if it was a fluke. Not entirely. Came in and they gave us a table and the normal chips and salsa. But after sitting there for almost 20 minutes without anyone even bringing us a water or asking if we wanted anything I just left. We love this place. We have been coming for years and never had bad service or food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are always good and the margaritas are on point. Also, this is the first place we have gone in and sat down to eat since the shut down and it was great as usual. Sectioned off tables, sanitizer available, wait staff wearing masks. My wife and I in the past loved coming here, that has all changed. Service and missing items have become the new thing. This evening we have decided never to return to this fake ass Taco Bell. We placed our order in the drive thru only to be rushed by a rude employee. Upon receiving our order as expected it was wrong. We attempted to bring to her attention the mishap she then rolled her eyes and slung her oversized head around as though we made the mistake. At this point we only wanted a refund. My wife went into the lobby requested a manager and refund. instead my wife received the special gift of them changing the conversation to a foreign language, more attitude, more oversized head slinging from drive thru and front desk employees not to mention still no manager in sight. I am done at this particular Taquerias. To be fair, I have been there before and had nothing memorable happen, little dumb things like servers messing up tortilla types or my drink getting empty and no more drinks I guess. Basically, if I hadn't had my mom and kid with me, I would have been disrespectful back. First sign of a bad restaurant, a manager who literally just sits there in the lobby staring at his phone the entire time. There has got to be some Health codes about the smartphone-addicted employees and I just hope they weren't all over the food. I wanted beef fajitas, ya know, the plate with a black iron skillet, steam, peppers, all that. I get it, I get it, so I didn't hold this against the waitress, its an honest mistake. I try to eat it, but its not the meat I want, I've always hated that fake-fajita substitute Mexican restaurants try to push sometimes. I hand the waitress the plate and I'm just not going to force myself to eat something I don't want. She says nothing, no solution offered. I guess I will not eat, which oddly enough Denny's two days earlier gave me the same treatment, where I took a few more minutes than my girl and daughter to order, ordered slightly after, and never received my food. Yay! So I am sitting at the table, no food, eating chips. But, the waitress acted like I messed up, because I didn't want the food I didn't want and I totally crapped on her day. She never showed at our table but one more time over like 30 minutes to ask if we were okay. I was cordial, just didn't want the food she implied upon me, although I was hungry. Empty cups, no ticket, nothing. My kid wants a to-go box forever, which she had chicken strips and I tried a bite (ya know, I hadn't ate), which tasted like frozen fish sticks, so bad. Kudos for my kid's steel gut. I get the waitress myself, because that is what a guest is supposed to do at a restaurant, hunt waitresses down to leave and actually pay the bill. Then I get the bill and she is still trying to charge me for the barbacoa I never ate, like what the H! When I went to the front to pay and tell the waitress this, she had stank-attitude all over her face, we all know what stank-face is. I don't know why my family got this treatment because she messed up, but it was so disrespectful, especially because I tried to be cool and collected about not eating food that was simply not good. I never said anything negative to her, didn't even trip about getting the wrong replacement plate for the nasty barbacoa (never had nasty barbacoa, even frozen-pre-made-barbacoa, not once). I guess I just needed to be disrespected today and have my kid and mom ignored as well, because its just the right thing to do...wait...no, no its not. Why get a job if you are going to be rude and hate your job? People, stop getting a job because you want a job so bad, then suck, hate, or be rude to people! Just quit. Be on food stamps, find a sugar-daddy or mama, but if you got a simple job, why act like its hard? This particular job is this: come out to the table, greet, plug stuff into a computer, bring food out, ask if people are okay. I guess its more than McDonalds, but Jesus! There is a reason these people get $2.13 an hour, its stupid easy! But yeah, Taquerias' barbacoa is nasty and slimy. The chicken strips taste like frozen fish sticks. Beef fajitas is a new phenomenon, because people at a Mexican restaurant, who work there, don't know what they are. Empty glasses are the routine. Waiting for a check for 30 minutes, a check which should be completely comped, is the norm. And managers who sit in the lobby, at a register for nearly the entire time, staring at a stupid phone is what is expected. This experience goes in top 3 worst all time, I eat out a lot and go to Burger King, too. So, yeah. Screw this place, I will never eat there again. read more

For the second time my family and I had the joy of dining with a large group of loud and obnoxious people who were seated in the middle of the main dining room. This group, mostly women who work at a local school, were so loud that my daughter and I both have throbbing headaches. Conversation was impossible. When we complained to the waitress, she went straight to the manager (who was standing at the register and could easily hear how obnoxious they were) who did nothing. Waitresses started grabbing customers as they walked in so they could seat them as far away from this group as possible. When we finally gave up and left with our meals half eaten, the manager did not offer a discount and would not give one when I asked. I have to say, the highlight of my Killeen trips is this restaurant. I fell in love with the breakfast from day one.
