I've never come here to eat but I have come here for some of the best margaritas I've ever had. Im a notorious "drink leaver" I do not finish any alcoholic beverage unless it comes with an umbrella and cost my entire paycheck. However the margaritas here are made with fresh fruit, little syrup and LOTS of GREAT tequila! I always get the watermelon margarita and I was very much looking forward to it on my trip and it did not disappoint. Our bartender was friendly and very funny. Cracking jokes the entire time while also giving no us our space to enjoy our night. This spot is a renovated gas station and is super sick! Definitely worth stopping in. read more

Had lunch here for the first time since it opened a few years back. I highly recommend this quaint little taste of taco heaven. I was told the tacos are small so I ordered three. They were five dollars each. The tortilla might've been what some might call small, but it is stuffed with delicious mouthwatering filling. They offer so many choices It was hard to choose. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch, buffalo chicken, and a fish taco. All three were absolutely delicious. Service was great and the restaurant was airy and clean. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. I am incredibly impressed at the upswing in delicious places to eat in Mystic, and Taquerio is no exception. I had read some of the previous reviews and thought-- wait this sounds like a real taqueria,.. a bit fancier than the kind I have here at home and used to have when I lived in Texas. And it is-- it's real tacos. I got the al pastor (which I get everywhere cause it's my favorite taco), a plantain taco, and an avocado taco. We also got chips and guac for the table. The portions were generous, and the plantain taco got shared around the table because it was (a) really good and (b) I was really full. My super picky 6 year old got "the gringo" which she didn't want (but grandpa said it was good), and then got the chicken with just cheese and ate the entire thing. Al pastor: really tender, great combo of spice and sweet, loved it. Avocado: chunks of fried avocado on spicy black beans with crema and picked onions- omg yum. Plantain: I was expecting plantain mash or a tostone (salty), but it was a sweet (maduro) plantain on spicy black beans with pickled red onions. It was the most surprising taco of the evening and was REALLY good. Overall; go. I had a great experience. What a brilliant idea! Take an old closed down gas station, keep some of the station charm and turn it into an open air mostly Mexican eating spot! The atmosphere earns 5 stars. The menu is straight forward and simple. My husband had the taco salad. Negative here...you have to pay an additional $5 plus to add any kind of protein, otherwise it's just lettuce and beans basically. I had two street tacos which were delicious but upon my first bite I discovered a bone fragment in my meat! I saved it and reported it to the waitress. After a not so great experience at their other restaurant we decided to give this place a try since we had a gift card. This place did not disappoint and was such a pleasant experience compared to our last. The food, service and atmosphere were a 10 out of 10. The tacos were delicious, a little expensive, but that's to be expected in this area. The drinks were strong!!! which of course is always a plus :-) and even my sometimes picky toddlers enjoyed their food. The chips and salsa were some of the best that I've ever had. We live around the corner and have been a few times. It is absolutely solid Mexican (especially since we can walk to it), and the vibe is relaxed. Server quality varies widely as we've had very warm and friendly to absolutely ice-cold servers (the reason for 4 starts vs. 5). We'll keep going as the food is solid, it's close, and we hope that we get a friendly server. read more

I sampled three items: a plantain taco and a beef taco called the Gringo, and they were both authentic Mexican tacos. The taco shell is not any prepackaged shell; it's the real deal...homemade deliciousness. I had two orders of charros. I could not stop with one order because frankly, they were the best charros I have ever tasted. I was greeted by Jake, the manager of this new establishment, and Jake's enthusiasm and loyalty to this restaurant is what is going to make this restaurant an absolute success. There was corn hole to play, pretty string lights, many different seating options from bar to table to hightop to outdoor tables suited for larger parties. We were seated & served with a smile and to our preference. The chips came out hot with fresh salsa (a lil on the spicy side) and the margaritas were #1 Delicious! Not too sweet, didn't taste artificial, texture was smooth on blended and ice was lite and drink generous for on the rocks. I got both the guava iced margarita with sugar rim and the painkiller which is my favorite. It was nice they offer salt, sugar, and tajin as options. #2 Their prices for food and drinks were down to earth so you could just enjoy and indulge yourself. 5-6 a taco, well worth it considering the quality, freshness, and out of the ordinary flavors. I got the shrimp ceviche, plantain, and oyster po boy and they were all sooo good. The only thing I think I would suggest is music. Pros: the old M Bar concept with the outside tables is fun and brightens up the Stonington side of Mystic. The tacos are fun with traditional and different taco concepts. The drinks are good. The cons: A bit expensive for a casual place. A $4-$5 taco should be bigger. I should not need 4 or 5 to fill up at those prices. This cozy restaurant once was a gas station. Its fun, brazen new fresh take on local dining and having FUN! The bingo nights are a blast. The drinks are healthily mixed- yum!! Its a great place. Sit outside in summer. Its a great spot for us locals at the end of town a bot away from the tourists, but I'm meeting regulars that are coming in from New London, Niantic, Uncasville... it attracts diversity and its a great place to have a drink and eat fresh Mexican food with friends. The food here is acceptable, the outdoor atmosphere is clever but strange and some tables are very close to the street. There is a parking lot off the back which is a plus for any Mystic restaurant. The server was friendly and attentive. Our order consisted of 2 margaritas which couldn't have have more than 4 ounces of liquid minus the ice. We also had 2 light beers. We had 5 tacos. They were an interesting combo and flavors, including a Reuben taco, and a Buffalo chicken taco (which was my favorite). These tacos are "street" taco sized, which means small according to an overheard conversation. Our bill for 4 drinks, 5 tacos and chips with salsa was $69 after a 15% gratuity. The building is not in line with the style of the town, but I am glad there is a new restaurant there. I wish them the best of luck, but probably won't return until they reconsider their pricing structure. read more

The services is great, the people are friendly, the food is tasty, fresh and spicy and the ambience as cars go into Mystic is great (on a nice day). This is a nice quick stop for casual taco meal and drinks. It is only tacos and taco salad. So you must be in the mood! I met some friends for lunch today to try this new restaurant out. It is owned by the same outfit as Rio Salodo across town. We tried the guacamole and salsa with chips. Chunky guacamole with perfectly salted chips. The salsa was a thin tomato based mild salsa. It was tasty. The drinks we had were delicious; a frozen strawberry margarita and a pain killer. We each sampled a variety of tacos; The barbacoa taco was beef with a little bit of heat. Not to bad, just a nice bite. The meat was tender and toppings were perfect. The pollo verde taco was light with sweet corn but a little bit on the soupy side. The Baja fried cod was surprisingly welcomed! Crispy cod topped with a chipotle dressing. The buffalo chicken tasted like it sounds and this to was a bit runny but what can you do?! For dessert the girls had chocolate taco which was a Klondike taco with the vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate. We were told it was like the one you get from the ice cream truck! Overall, everything we tasted was delicious. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere is casual and laid back. There is indoor and outdoor seating. And there is parking in the back! A hard find in Mystic. Price wise, I feel the street tacos are small and the $4/each is a bit much for the amount of protein you are getting. People want to get their money's worth and I did feel it was overpriced for the food portion. This is something that would definitely keep me from going back.
