He began describing the dish, then pointed to his dad sitting patiently at a corner table. "That's his invention." No more words needed. I said sold. Our dishes arrived and we immediately moved them to the center of the table so we could share both. I had the seafood fajitas -- shrimp, fish, fajita vegetables, and the most tender, flavorful pulpo I've ever had. All the seafood was cooked perfectly: tender but not falling apart. But the octopus and the sauce were something special. Chef Jose came to check on us and I told him about the pulpo. His eyes lit up as he began describing his preparation process -- then he said, "You want to see?" He walked me right into his kitchen and showed me the octopus being prepared. The cheesy gordita crunch at Taco Bell inflation pricing pales next to a freshly made Amelia's Taco Dorado (crunchy taco shell in a soft taco tortilla with the works of meat, guacamole, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and her own salsa). The Tacos Supreme come with guac and sour cream and they also have regular tacos. We've also tried the al pastor fries and al pastor nachos. The carne asada fries are on our list to compare. TIP 1: They're listed as open on weekdays between 10 AM and 6 PM, but call to check as they sometimes close early when they sell out. TIP 2: Call ahead to give your order to Juan so you can pay, pickup and go (or pay and eat at one of their picnic tables).
