First off, they bring the food out in a giant plastic bag like it's evidence from a crime scene. And honestly, it is a crime--how much butter and Cajun seasoning they put in there. The shrimp were so spicy they gave me flashbacks to every bad decision I've ever made, and the sausage? That sausage whispered sweet nothings to me before punching me in the face with flavor. I'm not saying I fell in love, but I definitely Googled "how to legally marry andouille." The corn was hotter than Satan's armpit, and the potatoes were softer than my willpower. I burned my fingertips, tongue, and possibly my soul, but I regret nothing. The staff is friendly in that Southern way where they call you "honey" and tell you you're "lookin' peaky" while piling 7 pounds of shellfish in front of you. If your bib doesn't say "I'm here for a good time, not a long time," you're doing it wrong. Pro tip: don't wear white. Or tight pants. First time to Tarantos. I had a side salad and cup of seafood gumbo. Salad was fresh and crispy which I enjoyed but gumbo was ok. I'm not a fan of white based gumbo so I think that was it. Lacked any real flavor. My friend had the crawfish . They were seasoned perfectly and good size. I would definitely go back for those. And the bread they served with the gumbo was a soft delicious scrumptious bite of heaven every time. I'll give them 5 stars. Came to Taranto's on a Friday afternoon for lunch with my brother and SIL. Being that it's the beginning of crawfish season, we decided to give this place a try! Definitely a cute local spot. We were greeted and seated almost right away. Between the three of us we ordered: Crawfish platter, Fried oyster appetizer, loaded fries, two beverages. -The crawfish flavor was cajun-y and buttery, it was perfectly seasoned and juicy. The potato was a little flavorless itself but with the crawfish boil, it was great. The portion was perfect to be shared. -Fried oysters were okay, no complaints or raving review here. -The loaded fries were the best part of this meal, The gravy and jalepenos complemented the fries very well. 10/10 recommend. The tables were covered in a laminated cloth, which was easy to clean and felt very clean. We were given a clean bucket to place the shells and waste. The roll of napkin at our table was full and helpful to have! I wish there was a different place to wash my hands outside of the 2 bathrooms that were always occupado... but one can dream... Finally some good crawfish boil that was worth the price. The restaurant was about a 23 minute drive from the Biloxi beach front area. It was not too hard to find but had to drive thru the busier highway roads. The place is clean and your typical home town feel kind of restaurant. It was seat yourself kind of place. The waitresses were mostly younger and were grouped up chatting but as soon as we sat down one came to take our drink order. We ordered the fries with crawfish bisque on top. It was soo good. The bisque had good flavor. It was not overly salty or gravy like. There was a good portion of crawfish meat. I was surprised how much my husband enjoyed it. He even took the bread from his meal to wipe up the remaining bisque. For our late lunch I ordered the full platter of crawfish with potato and corn for $14.99. My husband ordered the fried oysters (which was sad that oysters would be ruined by frying them). I believe he also ordered gumbo. Overall all it was a great meal and I didn't feel I overpaid. Taranto's is off the beaten path in Biloxi Mississippi. The food is excellent with large portions. Servers are courteous and friendly. I enjoyed a shrimp Po boy with gumbo. Gulf shrimp are the best because you taste the saltiness of the water and they're tender and fresh. The Po boy is loaded with shrimp. You have to put this restaurant on your must eat at list. Visiting my husband while he is training in Biloxi. I have never had crawfish or po boys or anything like that....OMG THIS PLACE IS AMAZING we got the gumbo and crab bisque.... hard to choose which was better but I will say never had a better bisque in my life. The po boy was great- but get a 6in it's plenty big enough! We also did the crawfish platter- I liked it a lot my husband freaked out and devoured it- it was super spicy though (for me) :) Lastly the bread pudding was fantastic but at that point I was done so much food! The crawfish were wonderful! Great flavor and very big. I was a little hesitant seeing the pictures online showing jalapenos with the boiled crawfish but they tasted great (the crawfish, not the jalapenos). My husband doesn't eat seafood so he had the cheeseburger and fries and they were good as well. I also had the onion rings and they were great! They offer take out, which is good because as mentioned in previous reviews, the parking stinks. But, if we all keep eating there I am sure they will get a bigger lot!!! read more
