It's a cleaner walmart with less stuff. this location is nice new and clean. They say "Now with Fresh Grocery" but it's a very small selection. so, don't go here thinking you're gonna do all your grocery shopping. The employees are okay, I actually got asked "can i help you find something?" last night. of course he told me where it was and on the way I got distracted by something else and forgot get what I was looking for. read more

I was trying to return some goodies. The rep who helped me, Nanette, was very rude and offensively questioned me the reason I had to return them. She did it in front of other guests and embarrassed me. She then refused to hand my in-store pickup order and threatened to cancel it without me violating any policy. This is just your average Target with average patronage, which is saying A LOT. As a non-native of Bakersfield, I have a certain standard for Target in my mind when I walk through those doors. But... THIS IS BAKERSFIELD! The other Targets (e.g. Rosedale, Ming) can get pretty sketchy/interesting, Wal-Mart-esque customers, but this one is on par with any other you'll find in your average city. This Target is brand new and is one of my favorite places to shop in town. It never seems crowded, which makes for a relaxing shopping experience. It has everything you need and is always well organized. There is a full service pharmacy, Starbucks, and grocery area. This may sound crazy, but I love their carts! They glide with ease as you push. I frequent this Target more than any other Target and the customer service here is great but my biggest and only complaint is...........during the summer its HOT in here. I dont know if they have the AC off or they have it set to 85 but its almost miserable. Most stores keep it fresh and slightly cooler not this place. Time to crank that AC Target. They have a great selection of jewelry, which is great comparing to other locations. The service is good. The staff is friendly and the lines went quickly. On a consistent basis, this store is sorely lacking an adequate number of cashiers. The lines are long. The lines are slow. It's almost worth it to drive to the Rosedale location. There are 15 registers plus four self checkout registers. There are usually 3-5 registers open even during peak shopping hours. This is a management issue. For fellow patrons, I should post a picture of my backside so you'll be forewarned to never get in line behind me unless you want to wait a long time. read more

This is my absolute favorite of all the Target stores. There's a full service Starbucks inside, a large grocery section and, of course, the snack bar. A new service that they offer is that they have a staff member in Cosmetics (today it was Amy who helped us) who can help color match your foundation and give advice. read more

This is my all time favorite Target to shop at. Clean restrooms, friendly staff, fresh produce. It's busy but the clothing area is always neat and organized, unlike Ming and Rosedale. Food is always well stocked. Employees are always very friendly and wanting to help. I recommend coming on weekdays or even early weekend mornings because lines to pay can get hectic on weekends. That being said, they always bring on extra cashiers. Overall, I love this place and am willing to drive the extra 10 minutes to go here as opposed to the mall location. read more

I mean who doesn't enjoy browsing around Target? I like going to this location over some others because it seems to be the most stocked. The downside is that no matter the time this store is always busy. The store is always tidy, and I enjoy that every time I come in there's always something new. Pharmacy review only: This is by-far the worst pharmacy ever. They are always closed each and everyday during the middle of the day for extended periods with absolutely no signage indicating when the pharmacy will reopen. This is very systemic to this particular Target pharmacy. When you ask nearby Target employees about the pharmacy status their replies are always the same "I don't know" "They are out to lunch and will reopen later" "Come Back later." This particular day their were several customers along with myself who refused to wait and left in disgust. I'm a type of person who when registering a complaint also will recommend a solution. Here is the solution. This pharmacy needs to post their lunch period adjacent to their operating hours signage and the pharmacy staff need to adhere to those hours rather than having a roving , extended and inconsistent lunch periods. read more

When me and my wife walk inside Target, it is well organized, well stocked and pretty clean. Parking is not tough but when it does get busy, it will be tough to find parking. Don't forget to sign up for the REDcard s you can get 5% on your purchases. Every little bit helps. Most of the time the cashiers will ask but if the cashiers do not ask, make sure to use it at the register because they won't adjust your receipt afterwards. read more

Worse pharmacy ever! I will never use this place again. My wife gets an automated call to fill her meds, she requests them, then I come to pick them up and they have no record. So they order the meds an hour later come back and now they can't fill becuz the insurance says it's too early. WTF! Communication ppl! read more

Target is Target. They are all pretty much the same, unless, you go to a Super Target, which is just Target but bigger and more stuff. That being said, I prefer Target to their main competitor, who's name like Voldemort will not be uttered here, because they are less utilitarian and less rude people and crowds. But the "East Side" Target is only three stars, barely, for several reasons. First, the store is seldom, if ever, looking very clean. Carts are often out of stock when I come in the door, but littered all over the parking lot. So, grab one on your way in, or you will have to go back out anyhow. I have learned to peep out the lot, If I don't see a bunch of carts out there, I go in, If I do, I grab one. The main aisles are pretty wide, but there are some areas hard to get through sometimes. I have often found that shelves are not re-stocked, or that stuff is just strewn about the store and not put back. This could be because of a staff shortage, OR because the management just doesn't care. Otherwise, there are things I like. Most of the store personnel are really nice, the quality of the goods is good, and the prices are doable. I just wish this store got the love and attention that other ones do. In any case, it is better than Volde-mart! read more

Never have I ever experienced such bad service at this target before. Specifically the self check-out assistant named Lilia. Extremely rude and not at her post when needed. And when asked for help, I hardly was acknowledged as a customer. As a regular customer at target, I expect better. I've been to Target on Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield 3 times in the last month. Checkout lines are very slow - usually only 2 or 3 are open, plus the self check. Looks like Target is saving money this way, but how long before it turns into Sears, because no one will shop there. Who wants to run in a store for 15 minutes and spend another 15 minutes in line. Target doesn't always have the greatest prices, but for the calm shopping experience verses the WalMart alternative...I'll pay the price. Their products seemed to be tuned into the incoming fashion and colors, but at church I can always tell who has been shopping at Target. Not a whole lot of originality. Product quality is good and the customer service seems to be somewhat better than most. They seem to try a bit harder...not too hard...but a bit. The grocery department seems awkward still to me, as the products don't seem to blend well. But, I am pretty particular about grocery stores. The hubby doesn't seem to be too impressed with the electronics department (of course we always have to check out the tech-o stuff) but rarely have seemed excited enough to make a purchase there. My bestie is in love with the pharmacist there, I love the beauty department as it has a wide variety of girl stuff for me to peruse. Overall...we'll be back time and time again..seems like an easy go to when we need a catch-all kind of store. read more

This target is always very clean and is easy to find the things you need. They seem to have a good selection and are well stocked. It is easy to find an employee if you need something and they are very helpful and friendly. Find something on their website that is cheaper on their website than at the actual store? No problem! They are more than helpful checking and accommodating. Plus, this Target has a Starbucks which is always a good pick-me-up when you are shopping. I am partial to the East side Target because it is on my side of town, but this one comes in at a close second. I would have no problem driving across town to come to this Target. read more

This Target is a nice stop if you're driving from the Bay Area to Vegas. From I-5 going south, skip the hwy 58 exit and take the next one (Stockdale highway). You'll drive on a 2-lane road and eventually make it to what will appear to be the outskirts of Bakersfield. You can continue on Stockdale until where 99 and 58 meet, and the store will be along your way there. It's a newer Target, in a nice area, with a Starbucks. read more
