I shopped at this location at least a few times per week. My husband took our 8 month old to target the night prior, and came home with an open pack of diapers, i asked for d batteries he got me aa, and the wrong baby food. I work in south bay plaza so employees at this location also know me by face. I spend a lot of my hard earned money here.
when i got home from work that night and saw the disaster L, i instantly called the target, i told the employee what had happened, and also informed him that my husband had misplaced our reciept but I was more than willing to print my bank statement, he reassued me not an issue just come in to exchange.
Tired from a long shift and it was already about 11:20 i thanked the employee and told him i would be in..
Sunday, dropped the boys off and off to target for my exchange.
So i waited in the thirty minute customer service line, to finally get to the desk. I started to unload the bag, explained the situation and also had my bank statement up on my phone (since the money had been taken from my account). She politely excused herself and got Elena the manager. As she was getting the manager, store security walked up to me in line and stated did you read our regulations on returns? I informed him I have and I also spoke to an employee last night by phone and have made numerous exchanges and returns never a problem (i usually have my reciept though) As I was having this conversation with security, Elena walked up.
Elena did not even start off like hi how can i help you? She instantly stuck her nose up in the air and started bobbling her head at me and stated "Target does not accept any returns without a reciept, even for an exchange", then she wanted to be real sassy and give me the customer service number and told me to call Monday as they were closed on weekends. As she was writing the number the security guard turned to me and said " And who buys a pack of open diapers... really?" ( i am not defending my partners actions on buying them, but he had a lot going on, and just didn realize, he made a mistake, and i called not even an hour after he checked out to tell them!!!!)
I have never felt so degraded in my life and I am a mother who works full time with a college education. As I was walking to my car, I thought it might not hurt to try this number.
Weird that the store manager doesnt even know there guest relations is open on the weekends... Even Sundays luckly for me!The woman I got was absolutely lovely. When I told her the situation, she was puzzled. She stated to me that for an exchange they should of just asked for an ID and let me exchange (mind you they never even asked to see any sorts of ID and i had it the whole time!!!) She was confused on why they would give me such a huge problem for $20 worth of diapers food and batteries that I PAYED FOR! She even kept repeating they must of thought you wanted cash back or money returned to the debit used, i reassured her i told them a million times i just want unopened diapers and the right food and batteries.
She gave me a confirmation number and back I went. I went right up to the security guard who asked me to read there return policy and informed him, he as well might want to read up because he clearly doesnt even understand there own policy because my request was within the policy. He isntly walked into the employee room i think in shame. I went back to the service desk and actually let people cut in front of me so I could get Elena the manager. When i informed her that their customer service department is indeed open on weekends, the return policy she told me is 150% incorrect, and here is the confirmation number. I handed her a six digit number and she goes "is this the number im suppose to call?" No its the confirmation number, not even thirty minutes prior did she give me the customer relations number? At that point she was too, pretty embarrassed that she is a store maanger and cannot do a simple return to a frequent customer at your store, she went and joined the security officer in the back and tossed me to another cashier (who when she walked away told me she sees me in here all the time and had no idea what that was about).
drove to the braintree target to finish my shopping when i live not even three minutes from the dorchester location, I could not even be in the same building as those people.
I will be following up for the name of the security officer and Elenas last name to A. Write a letter to the corporate office about this and B. Will also be calling to speak to a general manager as well in the morning.
I would rather drive an extra 20 minutes then ever return to this target ever again. To treat a loyal customer like dirt! You then dont deserve my money!! read more
