I was consistently forcefully ignored, belittled and patronized about my capability to afford anything outside of what my insurance allowed. And the woman that handled my service or lack thereof refused any feedback on the type of glasses I was looking to purchase, she was outright indignant and belittling but yet when other caucasian patrons walk into your establishment they were greeted warmly and talked to respectfully. to make matters worse, the glasses that I picked out weren't even the ones I received in fact they weren't even in the same class. I expressed my budget and willingness of $575 to spend on glasses and yet they charged my insurance for those glasses and they didn't even have the decency to give me the ones that I picked out to purchase defeating the whole purpose of the $575 out of insurance budget, Hence I was more than fiscally able to purchase a pair of my choosing regardless of what insurance covered . I will never do business with this company again, but maybe that was their whole gold to discourage people with disabilities or under insured individuals from returning?? I could be completely wrong, well I'm just speculating but in any case I will not go back because i'm no longer a glutton for punishment.

I flunked my first contact application appointment and I booked a second appointment for contacts at 3:30 hesitantly, explaining I wouldn't be able to arrive until 3:40. I was assured this would be fine. I arrived at 3:40 and went into the doctors' office around 4:10/4:20. I had practiced beforehand and was able to put the contacts in (hooray!). I had an unexpectedly really hard time getting the contacts out though. After trying for a while and asking for help, my doctor Amanda Gannon told me she "didn't know what to tell me" and that if I couldn't get them out by myself or with assistance that I would have to go to the ER and have them surgically removed and that MyEyeDoctor was closing in 10 minutes. She kept telling me that I had to get the contacts out and that they were closing until I started crying. She kindly told me she would wait until I could get them off and after the pressure was taken off, I was able to take out the contacts. She told me I had "gotten myself worked up" and that I would most likely be able to put contacts in at home. I was surprised to see that I left exactly at 5, which is when MyEyeDoctor closes. I can't imagine how hard these eye doctors are working and how much they want to get home, but this is one of those experiences in healthcare that will stick with me. I appreciate the doctor giving me some extra time, but I really feel like this whole thing could have been avoided with different scheduling or with my doctor easing up when she realized I was struggling with the contacts. I did wind up getting them out in time for closing, but I was really scared and upset. Lovely front of desk people, nurses, and doctors, and I've had very positive experiences with my glasses, so perhaps this was just a bad day.

It will be 10 weeks this Monday since I had my eye exam and was fitted for my glasses . At the 4 week mark I called left a message and received no reply . I then called 6 more times . Sometimes they said they were closed and would get back to me (they didn't) sometimes these were times that were posted as open online. Other times it said they were with a patient and would get back to me they didn't There hours seem to be whatever they feel like . This week they were closed Monday open Tueday 2 to 6 closed Wed and Thursday Friday 2 to 6 and today Saturday they opened at 3:30 and now it's 4:46 and online says closing soon open Tuesday at 2 pm . Finally I've had to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission , the consumer division of the Mass Attorney General's office , and the customer service of my insurance company . First off, on Shelles The Eye Place website, I really liked what she had to say about herself, her background, and how she runs her business. As a person that has spent many years in sales, I believe in transparency and not being pushy with the customer. Shellee has those same values. Transparently speaking I just went in there to see if she had any ideas on how I could maybe fix them. She's quite lovely in person. She knows what she's talking about and treats you like your family. I felt like I had known her for years, the way that we talked. When I finally pulled out my glasses to show her what had happened, she didn't even miss a beat. She found a similar frame and popped out the lenses on my broken pair of glasses and put them in the new frames. The new frames are at a great price point. She made little adjustments on the glasses to ensure they fit my face properly. The transaction was smooth and seamless. I love my new glasses. Shellee has a wonderful selection of glasses to fit any face and designs to fit anyone's unique style. You can tell by the way Shellee interacts with you that she loves what she does and she ensures that her customers leave with a smile on their face and the perfect eyeglass frames. The Dr took his time to make sure the prescription was correct. I have had trouble distance reading with my glasses. The prescription I received is the best I have had in years. I purchased computer glasses and regular glasses. They used a frame I had with me for computer glasses, just put in new lenses. I bought a new frame and lenses for daily wear. They recommended a color frame, and I said no to that. Went back a few days later and exchanged the frames to the color frames they suggested. Lots of complements. The lenses are made on site, and are perfect. Had my new glasses in less than a week.

When I tell her I'm there to pick up contacts she'll tell me she can't help me, step away and stand in the kiosk not assisting other customers, while Kyle runs around frantically taking care of ALL of the customers. Please promote Kyle or at least give him a raise! That said... I had the unfortunate experience of speaking with Deanne tonight. I wanted to order a 6 month supply of my contacts. My prescription - which hasn't changed over the past couple of years - is due to expire this month. As all contact lens wearers know, your prescription is good for one year, however my insurance (BCBS) just this year changed their benefit to only allow eye exams once every year and a half. I am a teacher and sadly cannot afford to cover the costs of an eye exam and contact fitting fee out of my own pocket. Since my eyes have been stable, my optometrist's office advised me to order contacts in advance to carry me through the additional 6 months. At first Deanne refused to place my order. Once I explained my situation to Deanne she begrudgingly asked for my card number. I typically order a 3 month supply so i asked her to confirm it woukd be a 6 month. She very condescendingly told me how many contacts would be in each box and said "so yes it will be 6 months." Then, as I began to give her my card number, she rudely interrupted me telling me it wasn't a Visa (it is). Exhausted, I asked if I could just come in with cash. I asked for her name and she proudly told me it was Deanne, and that she was the manager. I'll now be trying to find another discount provider for my contacts. Perhaps BJs has better customer service.
