The MIT FX only sells to patrons with university affiliation in the greater Boston area. Customers must show a valid university ID in order to make a purchase. I only arrived in the city a few days ago and have not picked up my new ID, but Julie was SUPER nice and helpful, allowing to show her my university email address on my iPhone as proof. There are a few new items available (all mattresses are NEW - they don't accept used ones), so I picked up a brand new full-sized futon frame AND mattress for $225. Then, I came away with some good buys on used stuff too: small wooden dining table and four chairs ($75), a not too obnoxiously floral sofa ($50), a small wooden coffee table ($15), and a broad wooden desk ($40). I also picked up misc. items like plates, toaster, lamp, plastic drawers, etc. for real cheap as well as couple of things on the house since I was making a huge purchase. Inventory, of course, changes all the time. You can find stuff for all rooms in your house. The store is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as 1st Saturdays, and during the peak move-in month, August, a few more Saturdays. They have a good relationship with Your Move Inc. for deliveries where you'll pay $60/hour instead of the moving company's normal $100/hour. Only complaint is that the FX is NOT a ten minute walk from the Red Line, as the website suggests. Just take the 47 down from the T, and you'll be better off than walking 15-20 minutes down from Central Square. I will totally return for random stuff here again. Thanks!

My husband and I recently moved into a new home and ordered two bedframes from Bob's, one full and one king. On the initial date of delivery, the full frame was built with no issues, but we were informed that there was a broken piece with the king frame, and that they would have to undo it and take it away. The gentleman who delivered it was incredibly nice and got me on the phone with customer service. I spoke with a woman who informed me the delivery would be replaced a few days later. When they arrived a few days later, they came with only parts for the frame, and not the entire replacement frame. This time, they left the miscellaneous pieces of frame in our bedroom, taking up space, and we had to get on the phone with customer service AGAIN. This time we spoke to two different people (neither of whom seemed to understand what we were talking about or who understood our situation). And once again, they assured us that the next delivery (the 3rd attempt) would be correct and the entire frame would be delivered. When the third delivery was attempted, they (shocker) only came with just the pieces again and not the entire frame, but thankfully this group of delivery men were kind enough to move the leftover pieces of frame from our bedroom to our garage so they weren't in the way. My husband talked to customer service on the phone and very clearly explained the situation, and we were once again informed that the now FOURTH delivery attempt would be correct. This morning, which was supposed to be the final (correct) delivery, my husband received a phone call stating that they, once again, had the wrong order and only had parts for the frame, not the entire frame itself. After multiple other confusing & frustrating calls to customer service agents (who very clearly follow a script and have trouble straying from it), and trying to explain to them that we did NOT want a replacement or exchange at this point and just wanted a refund, we finally got a satisfactory response. We definitely not be purchasing any more furniture from Bob's and will be advising our friends & family against it as well. Save yourself the trouble and go to a different furniture store or get something off of Amazon.

Unfortunately we had a bad spill and damage so they came out and said they'd repaced the couch. This was during covid and Jordan's had very limited choices for replacement. The replacement couch from Jordan's, turned out to be a lemon it's had so many issues the repair techs have been out 2-3 times so by now the wedge is bolted to the rest of the couch and we can't even move it. As to color, it was light grey, almost white but it was my only color choice during Covid, so I was glad I had the insurance because it would show every stain. Well, 4 years later, I recently noticed multiple stains on the couch and even Jordan's furniture tech agreed there were many and this was reported to Jordan's in a timely manner. Protect All required many pictures over 3 months. However, this time the decision was NO, Protect All and Jordan's won't stand behind the agreement. They will give me a credit. Wow, great. I don't think $800 is going to pay for a new couch with 4 recliners, and a wedge. So everyone, go ahead, buy expensive furniture at Jordans, even buy the insurance but if you need it more than once, forget it. Now I'm forced to look at a very expensive, spotted white couch bought during covid as an insured replacement, but neither company will honor, "repair or replace".

From the moment I walked in the door things felt odd. When I walked in the door I wasn't greeted, instead, I was stared at by the lady who worked there and was given the vibe that she didn't want me there. I tried to pay it no attention and proceeded to walk around and do the shopper looking to buy bedroom furniture thing where you check out the dresser drawers to see how deep they are and inspect the bedframes to see if they have good quality wood and to see how sturdy they are. While I was browsing (I was the only shopper in the store), the same lady watched from a distance and edged closer as I kept looking but didn't offer to assist me in any way. I found one bedframe that I liked. I went to show my fiancée via facetime the bedframe AND THEN the lady finally chose to say something to me, "NO PHOTOS" and pointed to the computer paper printed signs on the far wall that could easily go unnoticed. The no pictures things seemed even odder to me so I chose to leave. I will never come to this store again and I don't recommend this place to anyone.

An Asian lady then came out of the corner yelling "no pictures" at which point I was like ....okay? That's fine. I was on the phone with my friend so I looked at her and just nodded "ok". So I continued walking around the store and I noticed the lady following me... A part of me thought she was going to try and customer service me, as a good sales person should. But then I walked to the other side of the store and again, she followed me. And every time I turned my head back at her, she would look away. As a minority, I took careful note of these behaviors. I didn't feel comfortable and honestly, that store didn't have much to offer anyways. Literally half of it was blocked with signs that said "no trespassing". After this experience, I am all set on coming back and buying anything. I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone and truthfully it's taking up space that could be used by a better store. Or at least a furniture store that won't have their employees follow you around after taking pictures for possible business :)
