Half the store is in locked glass doors. Very inconvenient and usually a long check out time.

I get that this target isn't the best target. But what me and a long line of people witnessed at this target. I guarantee this target lost a lot of customers. The security woman here went off in a passive aggressive manner towards a customer that was having issues with self checkout and was frustrated. Yes it was the furthest one and we all heard the conversation. Especially the smug condescending "We will be glad for you to not come here anymore" as a response to her saying she's not going to come here anymore. From the conversation there was a clear history. The lady at the checkout was possibly homeless. Or on whatever (outfit, haircut etc... not judging. Customer is a customer). Which really doesn't matter if she was trying to buy something. Fun fact, I've been twice and may be a third time. I get that thefts by homeless and druggies and others happen here. I've been in the middle of some at multiple targets. She's clearly still at the register trying to make a purchase. And why is the security directing/ordering staff? She closed down a person checkout lane for that person to go put a code into a self checkout lane. You know who else can put in codes? Actually supervisors, leads etc. Then I get to the person line (after letting others into the checkout line, cause I have alcohol... *hint* doing staffs job). I ask where I can put my handcart and this... person... lady... womandirects me to the place where I got it from when I came in. That's empty Because there are handcarts behind her to the side of her etc. And that place for the carts is 30-60ft+ out of my way. So she wants me to either go all the way there and back here. Or do it after the purchase when no one else did. I look there, I look behind. Yup same line is witnessing this. Btw mostly black I'm not going to insert race card, let's just say I wasn't going to do it and was no longer not saying anything. Things were going to get spicy. She should've took the handcart not pull some petty micro racist bs. Luckily and ironically the security lady recognizes the issue and says "oh I'll take the cart, I'm doing some stuff and going that way". Which was a lie because the whole time I've paid attention to her (coming in, the incident etc... I'm a veteran and have done security) she was never anywhere near that cart area. Non of them are because they're all in their register area. I agree to give it her and moved on. Because otherwise I would've been like na and then left it on the floor. Or better yet just left it and not paid. And say loudly: "YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO TREAT PEOPLE RESPECTFULLY". Because this target does. And I won't be coming back either and neither will other people. read more

Easily the best Target in San Diego. 3 entrances, 3 self check out areas, pick up area, a Starbucks inside, and multi level. Point Loma is newly remodeled but always has homeless people in the bathroom, so I happily drive out of my way to a cleaner, better laid out Target. Huge grocery area, if you need alcohol you can run through the separate entrance. This is actually the largest Target in all of San Diego (2 floors we can not access as "guests"). During COVID, they have taken every precaution to make me feel comfortable. Tip: Use Target Circle and Red Card (can be debit) for more savings. read more

This is my go-to target because of how close it is to my house. As always, target usually has everything I need, so it's a nice place to do all of my shopping. The people working there are so kind too! The elevator stopped working when i was in it once, and they came to check it out immediately. I wish they would restock their items faster though, some of the shelves in the makeup section are just completely empty! On the bright side, THIS BATHING SUIT IS FUNNY ASF. read more

This Target is pretty massive and very busy but seems understaffed for its size and location. The place is a mess and it's hard to find help when you need it so keep that in mind if you're going there to buy something that is locked up like deodorant or shaving cream. The parking lot is a joke, think of compact spaces but even smaller. You might find a lot of open spaces but you can't park there unless you're on a motorcycle because other cars parked so bad you just can't fit. It's worth driving to a different Target even if it's further. read more

This Target is off the 8 fwy just north of the Downtown area. It's a two story Target with escalators and a little nicer than others. It's cart friendly so it goes up and down with you on the escalators! The store is clean and a nice place to visit and walk through. read more

The rating for this Target is spot on. This location is very run down. The upward escalator and the cart escalator we're not functioning, which caused some traffic at the elevators. The item selections were scarce and weren't too good. Not sure if is because it's a busy store. We also saw quite a bit of homeless in and out of the store. The bathrooms were filthy and reeked of urine. I won't likely be back to this particular location. read more

I found a pair of shoes I liked(Skechers Sport) for $39.99. On the top shelf where I got the shoes it said 30% off, so I got the shoes. When I got to the register, the cashier said I need to download the Target App so I can get the discount. But when I download it the app, suddenly the shoe weren't on sale no more, if so why did the cashier lied. Or why do the put a sign to save 30% off if it's not true. On the way out I met up with store security (asset protection)and asked for a manager and was told all managers are busy and in a mandatory lunch and could not be disturbed to come back another day. Really disappointed with this Target Customer service and will be deleting the app and not registering my info with them. All Beware of signs showing discounts, because they could be fooling you to buy more items. read more

Understaffed and hard to find employees who will unlock the shelves to get products. Employees are assigned to certain sections and will direct you to another hard-to-find employee who is always doing several tasks at once. The self check outs were unavailable (during the peak shopping season) and there were only three cash registers available with long lines. The cashier I was in line for had to look up multiple items on here phone during check out and service was anything but seamless. I waited ten minutes in line before dumping my one item and leaving. My time was more valuable than whatever I had planned on purchasing. read more

I think most people probably already know this but don't do target pick up order here unless you do it first thing in the morning with the intent to pickup by 3PM. It takes over 4 hours for them to fulfill - which is straight out of the mouth of one of the employees. He said typically mission valley can't fulfill anything under 3 hours. Even if you only ordered one thing. So, my order at 2pm is still not done and it's 7pm, likely to not even be fulfilled today. Which is insane. Literally any other target is better than this, so just don't do it here. You'll be waiting forever. read more

I like this target because they always have everything I want/need in stock! Super huge Target. Very spacious with lots of different things to shop for. From clothes clothes, electronics, and even groceries. This location seems to always have things in stock when I shop online and they also offer curbside pickup which is super convenient and cool. I dread parking here though.. it's tight and always crowded! read more

Big Target in mission valley mall next to outback steakhouse. Good to order online & pick up curbside. Great option for if you'd like to avoid going inside. But not bad to go in pretty big & spacious. Groceries are on the first level & near the north west part of the store. Alot of registers not all are open. And I believe I saw self checkout, which I honestly hadn't noticed before because I am usually in & out. read more

1 star based solely on the fact that *all* the personal hygiene products are locked up. This is the only target location i've been to like this. you're supposed to press a button on the locked isles for an employee to come unlock it for you so you can grab what you'd like. However, this target decided to assign 1 employee to the whole area for unlocking things. That has to be so stressful on the employee. customers are waiting about 10-15 min just to grab some toothpaste so i imagine many of them are irritated and cranky by the time they arrive; making the job even more stressful. If target wants to lock up everything, they need to staff appropriately so employees aren't having to scramble from customer to customer and no one's having to double the time of their shopping trip. It's not fair for the customers and it's certainly not fair to the employees. But hey, at least target isn't loosing $ over a few stolen deodorants any more. read more

We came in yesterday in the morning, in a little bit of a rush. We were heading the the Sea World Aquatica park. I had misplaced our water proof phone cases, thankfully I seen they had some in stock and it was perfect it was right by our hotel. The store is very clean and they have everything where it says on the Target app. I used the app to find the exact location of what I needed and it was in the right place. We did self checkout and they had a woman cleaning everything after every use which I appreciate. She was very friendly and told us to have a good day, I wish I got her name she was sweet. read more

Not sure why this Target is never stocked considering its central location. Walking through the outer aisles remind me of the beginning of COVID where half, if not most of the shelves, are empty. Pleeeeaase stock your items so I can make one trip for all my needs! Parking can get chaotic when it's busy, the lanes alternate in one-way directions, and you can only turn right once you hit the rear end of the lot. Hard to describe, but if you've been there, you get me. They do have a vision center, Starbucks, and large alcohol department in the back with a few self-checkout kiosks for those who don't want to deal with lines at the main checkout section. Service is a hit or miss. From my experience, they've streamlined their order pick-up/curbside process to where it's smooth and efficient. read more

As a proud gay man, I was disrespected and watched other women be disrespected. I feel this store has gone down so much. Today 06-15-2024 I was needing some make up remover l got a women named Madison who slammed the door in my face and was very rude. She refused to help me or assist me because I apparently took way too long picking out what I wanted. Storming off, I went over to the checkout line with my partner. Unfortunately I had too demand the name from the cashier of the short rude manager over at the checkout lanes. The manager's name is Patty. I was checking out and she yelled move out of my way, and shoved past. My partner and I thought wow what a bitch. The cashier apologized and was very professional about it. The selection they had could have been bigger but I wouldn't know because I was rudely treated by the staff. I wish they had more things I could loook at without it being locked up and slammed in our faces. Please hire better people. read more

They started enforcing the personal care products to be locked and secured in this security shelvings. There were 6-8 groups of customer waiting to grab an item. I don't think this is the most effective way to secure products, especially because it's a high volume Target. I can see how sustainable this method can be at a City Target with smaller square footage but definitely not in Target MV. Poor staffs were spread thin, running around getting disrupted by the shelf calls while restocking. They were very sweet when we reached out for help but they seemed very overwhelmed. Please reconsider this method of security. read more

I have always loved Target and this specific location as well. However, they have erased the easygoing vibe attached to it. Now everything is locked up so you need to call someone over to help you, even for toothpaste??? Everything is crowded and generally stressful now due to the long lines and parking lots. Idk what it is about that parking lot but it brings the crazy out of people, and I'm not referring to homeless people specifically, I mean everyone. Sally (said she recently turned 65 during Covid, so as not to confuse in case there are multiple Sally's) was AMAZING! We were just doing a simple checkout with a few items and she was so friendly, fun, and took care of us well. I wasn't thinking much of the checkout experience until it turned out to be awesome. Nice to have someone that has such a positive demeanor 15 minutes before store closing! (I work evenings myself so I know some of the unique challenges!). Honestly, the MV Target is not one of my favorites. But this service experience with Sally has brought it up a few notches in my list of Target stores! read more

Target. At a mall. Ugh. We were in the area for an appointment and we were early. We had some time to kill and needed an umbrella base for our patio umbrella. We walked into this massive two story Target. Cart escalator and all! After circumnavigating the store twice we gave up and asked an associate, "Where's outdoor, garden, patio stuff"? She pointed to a different associate and said, "Ask him, he'll know". He told us that if they had anything it would "be in that far corner". Off to that far corner we went where there was the teeniest of tiniest garden sections. We found all of two aisles of random pesticides, outdoor lights and miscellaneous gardening gloves and such. There was a row of coolers too. Housewares, clothing, baby stuff, kitchen stuff, bathroom stuff, bedroom stuff, you're good to go at this Target at the mall. Outdoor/patio/garden...nonexistent. Oh, and go in knowing where to find what you're looking for. Helpful associates...nonexistent. read more

Whatever high school or college kids they have working at order pick up are absurd. It took me over 45 minutes to pick up one item at this location. The entire desk left the pick up desk COMPLETELY UNOCCUPIED. During these 45 minutes the pick up line had build up over 8 people all standing and waiting for their items. They also completely disobeyed corporate policy and tried to deny my online order. I had to involve a manager and call the corporate line before they would release my item. read more

Well, this is my preferred Target store in San Diego - if I am close by, I would prefer this store over the others. Other than that, it is your regular Target fare. But this store seems to be one of the largest. (For comparison, my La Mesa Target has no pharmacy and seems smaller.) Parking can get packed if you look at the obvious parking across from the door. I recommend parking off to the side parking, the nearby covered parking, etc. Maybe less hassle. read more

It is one thing to have the option for self checkout. It's an entirely different story to force customers to use it because you only have one register open. Not hiring enough employees so that we have to do the work for you, and for free, is unacceptable. I left my full basket sitting there and walked out.
