So this is fast food...but it's really good. My friend & I were looking for Indian food close to Lakeline. Yelp to the rescue. You can order at the kiosk or the counter staff will help you. My fav Indian food place closed sometime last year & I was really bummed. One of the things Tarka does well is making their food with consistent Flavors!! Their curry is very good. I also enjoy Samosa's, Aloo Gobi which happens to be vegetarian is also delicious! This time during our sweltering "fall" I also enjoyed their Iced Chai. Even in the heat I eat the Madras Soup. Of note there are some newer salads on the menu. Garlic or plain the Naan is good. Sometimes just to switch things up a bit I will have Roti or Pav. Some favorites are the Korma , t choice is the Paneer. It's so easy to order any of their curries with the many protein offerings they have. I see many patrons enjoying their Kabobs and today I am ordering the Kofta. Tarka is quite consistent in the taste , the couple of times we visited. This is a casual take on Indian food, and I like the fact that spice level can be adjusted . Food has a more localized taste and flavor . Service is ok . They explained everything but didn't feel very friendly. We liked both the chicken biriyani and lassi. The owner of Clay Pit sold and started Tarka about fifteen years ago. I've been eating at the Tarka chains for about fourteen years. They're all consistently good. I like that the mild curries aren't too spicy for me. Only once have I asked them to remake it, and not at this location. I always order the mild coconut curry with lamb. read more

I always like Indian food. Y'all who've followed me since prehysteric Yelp times know that. Sometimes, it's hard to find. Last night, we had no intentions of dining out, but we smelled Tarka all the way across the parking lot from Best Buy. It was past 7:30 and going home to fix dinner at that hour was kind of counterproductive after a busy day. So we capitulated and ate here based on smell alone. The ambiance of Tarka is nicer and brighter than the other locations I've been to. The bathrooms were particularly cheery, if a little untidy at the end of a busy day. As to the food, we had a starter of the Tikka Masala Fries. She went with the Chicken Vindaloo and I had -- you guessed it -- Chicken Tikka Masala. We ordered Garlic Naan to finish the carb load. The fries were the star of the meal. Perfectly sized, perfectly fried, perfectly crisp, we couldn't have asked for anything better. My Chicken Tikka Masala was very good, and at medium spice level, fine by me. She took a bite and pronounced it too spicy, but, other than that, she would have preferred it to her Chicken Vindaloo. The naan was unusually buttery; I'm thinking now that's how they gave it gamic flavoring. I would have preferred an onion kulcha, but that's not on their menu. A bit of a quibble: there are other take-out containers available other than the brown boxes by the condiments. You just have to ask for them. Tarka is what it is. I mean, let's face it, it's the McDonald's of Indian food. The sad reality is that you can run up $33 in fast food plus tip while drinking only water. And that's not fast food pricing. And the samosas came out pretty immediately for us so we were able to just chill until our food came out. Tarka is a really good Indian fast food option. It has decent Indian food, pretty americanized with classic options, including plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. If you're craving dessert, do try their rasmalai - quality of which has gone down in the recent times, but still decent. I only wish their meals weren't pre-made. read more

We ordered Vegetable Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala Medium & Chicken Biryani. The medium has a good kick so if you can't handle heat i would order mild. The food came super hot which is much appreciated. The Samosas they were big but i don't think it's worth $5 for two. I would go back and get the chicken Masala and maybe try another dish. Ok this is in the fast-food category, but it is all pretty darned good. I've never been disappointed in their Tikka Masala or their Biriani, and I've been a customer for years. Unfortunately, I did not have the best experience at this location. I was the first to enter this restaurant and there was about 6 customers behind me. All of the other customers were served with their food but however I was the last one to be served. When I went to ask why, they said it was because of my order. The potatoes in the coconut curry were a little under cooked. The naan has great flavor but thr thickness was very oddly distributed with it being very thin on one side and thick on the other. They give you a pretty generous serving and plenty of rice. Our order was ready when I walked in but I ordered it pretty far in advance. Tarka is one of my go-to restaurants. They never disappoint and they are always consistent (I went like once a week when I lived around the area). Their portions are huge and could last you for two meals. For the appetizers, I have tried their Tikka Masala fries and Chicken Pakoras. The fries are good and you can't ever go wrong with those; they are a little overpriced for what they are. They just taste like normal fries. The chicken pakoras are good as well! They just taste like chicken tenders, but the batter makes it a lot more chewier. Some of my favorite dishes are the chicken tikka masala, saag, and chicken biryani. You can also adjust the spice level for all of the dishes, which is perfect. I thought that more spice added more flavor as I've tried them with all the different spices. I'm good with spice, so I always went for the "hot" option. All of their dishes are very flavorful. The tikka masala is a classic staple. It's less on the tomato-sauce side and more on the buttery side, which I prefer! I always wish there is more chicken, but for the price, it's pretty good. The saag is a pureed spinach curry, and it leaves a more bitter taste in your mouth. I personally really like it and I often get it with paneer! It is filled with flavor of garlic and onions and it is more of a paste consistency. The chicken biryani is also a classic as well. The rice comes with a yogurt seasoning, which pairs very well with the biryani. I think this dish is the most filling out of all the dishes I've tried, but it's basically fried rice with a lot of different spices. Tarka came to my attention for their Round Rock location. I enjoyed it but didn't go too often as it was a drive to get to. Then the stars aligned and Presto! this location in Cedar Park opened. I have gone a few times. I ordered the chicken Kabob and hold the rice. So it was just chicken and vegetables. The kabob and vegetables tasted good but way too many peppers for me, plus no extra veggies to compensate for no rice. The chicken was cooked well with spices but still tender to the tooth. The vegetables were crunchy and not mush. Then I discovered the Kabob salad, the same delicious chicken and plenty of leafy goodness with the honey-Tamarind dressing. This has become my go to order. BF likes to get the chicken tikka masala. We always get an order of samosas to share. These pastries stuffed with potatoes and peas with Indian spices are a favorite.
