Apparently my kids have entered their Indian cuisine era, and I'm completely here for it. We ordered Tarka Indian Kitchen to-go and everybody had their own pick. We went with three kids meals: the Biryani Rice Bowl, Tikka Curry Bowl, and Coconut Curry Bowl, paired with strawberry or mango lemonade. And because my kids have apparently decided garlic naan is an absolute requirement now, we grabbed a couple of those too. This was another HIT! Everybody liked their own choice so much that before long, they were splitting everything up so they could taste each other's dishes. The sauces were flavorful, everything traveled well, and each dish gave them something a little different without being too much for the kids. And the garlic naan? Gone. I feel like I barely saw it before it disappeared. Next time, clearly, we need more. I also really liked that the kids had actual flavorful meal options to choose from. Sometimes kids menus feel like the same few foods everywhere you go, so being able to order them their own curry and biryani bowls was a nice change especially when they genuinely enjoyed them. Needless to say, Tarka has officially earned a spot on the kids' To-Go Friday list. 10/10 I ordered the chicken, samosas, and chicken pakoras from Tarka, and wow -- this was easily some of the best Indian food I've ever had. The chicken was perfectly cooked, super tender, and packed with flavor. Every bite had the right balance of spices without being overpowering. You can tell everything is made fresh and with care. The samosas were crispy on the outside with a flavorful filling, and their tikka sauce on the side took it to another level. The chicken pakoras were just as impressive -- crispy, well-seasoned, and not greasy at all. And let's talk about that desi spicy ranch... absolute game changer. It paired perfectly with everything and honestly made the whole meal a 10/10. This is officially my new favorite Indian spot. Highly recommend if you're craving bold, flavorful, and perfectly cooked Indian food. Also, the prices are out great and the service is extremely fast! I would rather drive to spring and go to this location tasted better. coconut curry was good however it's not better than the tikka masala so I wouldn't get it again same with the garlic naan it was good but not something I need cause it comes with basmati rice and I need to remember next time to get the tikka masala at normal heat rather than hot. The korma is a favorite from here because it's creamy and thick from the cashew almond pistachio cream sauce. Usually, I add shrimp, which are medium size and cooked well. The rice tastes much better as takeout as it has time to steam a few more minutes in the box. The garlic naan has a hint of garlic but not much crunch from it. Ever since we came my partner has been asking when we'll come back, and we definitely will be coming back! Easy and clear on how to order, good variety of options, food came out hot, fresh, and quickly. The tikki masala fries (forgot a picture) with tikka sauce were delicious, and the seasoning will definitely get all over your fingers, so be prepared. I'm a big fan of their rice, super fragrant, I got the Yellow Daal Curry with Chicken (Medium) - unfortunately it was just a little too spicy for my (admittedly low) tolerance, but the flavor was good and the spice wasn't an immediate kick, it coats the mouth. My partner got the Tikka Masala with Lamb (Mild) and it was quite tasty, the lamb was good with no noticeable gaminess. They provided plenty of naan and roti- both were tasty and definitely would order just one next time (we were feeling a bit hungry lol). read more

TikTok influenced me to try this franchise. I had never had Indian food before, but have been open to trying it. I went around noon on a Monday and the dining room was not busy. However their DoorDash, Uber Eats, and personal online ordering pick up was busy. It was hard to get a close parking spot at the front of the restaurant, but I was able to find parking elsewhere. The restaurant was clean, full of natural light, and delicious scents of spices were in the air. I was greeted upon entering and the employee was very kind. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala with medium spice level, the Chicken Biryanis w/ medium spice level, garlic naan bread, and the mango lemonade. Both dishes were very good and well seasoned. It's hard to say which one I preferred over the other because they were both great choices. The garlic naan did not taste like anything. Maybe the cooks mixed up my naan order with another to go order. The mango lemonade was decent. It was not overly sweet which I appreciated. Next time I go I want to try the mango lassi. The food did not take long to come out. Maybe 7-10 minute wait time and the food was fresh and piping hot. Overall I spent $31 dollars on my food. By the way this is a cashless establishment. Just stopping in to pick up dinner. It was pick up and go but this employee Elsa was just over the top kind. Her smile is magical and contagious she's definitely the kind of person that brings joy to any establishment. They are lucky to have her here on to the food They now have cheese naan which I decided to try this time along with my typical biryani rice and curry chicken and tarka Dal. Tarka offers a great selection of North Indian food for veg and non-veg tastes. They're located in a nice part of Spring, with other cool eateries such as Cava and Urban Bird (the latter replaced BGood, unfortunately) are. I got some food to-go on a weeknight, and it included a serving of garlic naan and Kofta Korma, the latter of which is a dish based in a nut gravy with potato-based "meatballs". Normally the korma comes with rice, but I asked for naan instead of rice, and just had to pay the difference. The portions were more than enough for one person! Perhaps it's because I'm now used to the "smaller" portions offered in European restaurants (including Indian restaurants based in Europe), but I had a difficult time finishing all the Kofta Korma plus naan. I got the chicken tikka masala with 3 out of 4 heat level, almost too hot but I ate half and saved the rest for later. Our daughter-in-law had a cheesy naan and shared it, very good. She also had a mild chicken tikka masala. She got a small order of fries for the youngster. I had a regular naan, usually go with garlic but the plain hit the spot. First time here. My wife and I love Indian food. When we walked in, we found it to be set up as a partial service, fast food style restaurant. We were ordering carry out. The dining room was very clean. The color scheme and decor was of Indian influence. The staff were very friendly. One of the managers took our order. She was knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. We ordered 2 orders of Vegetable Samosas, they were good, but had a slight after taste, reminiscent of previously frozen food. We did enjoy the Mint-Tamarind-Yogurt Chutney that came with it. An order of Vegetable Biryani, it gave the impression of being fresh and was nicely seasoned. For entrees, we ordered 4 Chicken Tikka Masala's, 2 mild, 1 medium, and I ordered hot. They all had a good flavor, and seemed fresh. The only complaint is the scarcity of chicken in the Chicken Tikka Masala, and their Hot spice level is what I would call mild. Of course, I know everybody has different tolerances to spicy foods, and that most restaurants like to play it safe. Overall, the food was decent. This place used to be really good. I am so sad. They changed the masala fries, which are no where near as good as the old recipe. Aloo Gobi was removed from the menu and then brought back. This should be your go to lunch spot. The employees were very friendly. It hit my craving for Indian food and strong spices and vegetables without going overboard on the salt and portion size. The price is moderate but the portions come out in just the right size for lunch so you won't take leftovers nor feel filled to the brim. Samosa chaat was piled with sharp flavored herbs and veggies and had a nicely crisped samosa underneath to create well balanced bites. 6 of my co-workers and I came to eat at Tarka for a group lunch. The cashier's were really friendly and we got a 10% discount too. We decided to share a few appetizers - veggie samosas, fries and garlic naan. I've eaten at other locations and the samosas were great. The fries also came out hot and had nice dipping sauces. The only disappointment was the naan which wasn't really fluffy. My lamb Tikka masala came out hot and flavorful. The lamb was tender and abundant, but the rice was a little dry. It wasn't exceptionally better than anything I'd had before, but it was worth it. We went at lunch time (~12) and JT was relatively busy. It was a little loud, but nothing more than normal. Everything I have eaten here has been good, the first time I went the cashier was not happy to be there, not rude just not happy. Came into the restaurant for a meal, my husband walked into the restroom and noticed an employee walk out without washing his hands. Regardless is there's a sink in the kitchen that man should've washed his hands before waking out of that restroom. We really love this place. This has replaced the place we used to go to. While it doesn't have the ambiance of a full service restaurant you couldn't tell that from the food. The food is flavorful, served quickly and the portions are generous. The staff is quick to please and helpful. We start with the chicken pakora, it is coated in chickpea flour, very lightly and gently spiced. The vegetable samosa's are another alternative or addition when we are very hungry. They are small enough not to be the meal as you find in many places. The cilantro chutney has just the right amount of coconut to please the palate. I go to my favorite for my main meal because my husband always orders the second favorite and steal some of that. So for me the lamb korma, spiced hot (not Indian hot). The lamb melts in your mouth, the sauce is thick and a bit lighter in color than I've had at other places. It is an aromatic delight. I have both the rice and naan (without the butter) because I can never finish the dish and this way I have a bit of everything for the leftovers. I steal my hubby's favorite, the shrimp mirch masala, this is a new set of flavors for me. I've not had it before and I keep telling myself I'll get it with the lamb or chicken but we end up with our favorites. The masala is in a tomato, mushroom, onions and peppers sautéed into a thick sauce. It is almost the consistency of a thick stew. We had with shrimp. I like this better with the naan than rice (Indian's eat with their fingers and naan) and this holds up well for the dipping, scooping and eating. We ordered it hot. We have had the dishes mild, medium and hot and there is a distinct different in the heat. Our go to is the hot. Tarka has become one of our regular food joints. We love the flavors and spices. It's amazingly delicious fast food with a kick. It's contemporary Indian at its best. The restaurant is a blend between fast food and sit down restaurant. Upon entering, you enter a queue that brings you to the cash register where you order. After ordering at the counter, they bring the food to your table. Service is fast. Portions are generous. There are self-service drinks available. And they have a small selection of wines and beers. We usually start with with chicken pakora or vegetable samosas or both... LOL. We ordered 2 mains: shrimp mirch marsala and lamb korma hot. The mains come with basmati rice, but we also ordered an unbuttered naan. My wife loves naan!!! The pakora is amazing and lightly coated in a slightly salty spice. Imagine Indian chicken fingers in a nearly non-existant coating. Finger licking goodness. The samosas are traditional potato samosas. They were crisp and light, with little oil and fresh flavors. Both were accompanied with mint chutney and cilantro. The mint chutney was slightly sweet and lacking coconut. Not like Mom used to make, but delicious. The shrimp mirch marsala was beautifully spiced and textured. Mirch masala is less tomatoey than a tikka masala. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The sauce was thick and meaty with onions and peppers blended together that complement the sweet shrimp. The veggies are subtly integrated in the sauce for a unique flavor. We chose to have it hot and spicey and it was amazing. The lamb korma is thick and a little lighter color than mom used to make (mom's was more brown). The flavor was delicious with a blend of coconut and cashew flavors and scents. The lamb was cut into small pieces and was tender. The meat was spread throughout the thick sauce. If you order it mild or medium, it tends to be sweeter and nuttier. For us, hot was perfect. read more
