While there is a lack of good Indian restaurants on the north side of Houston, Turmeric is slowly changing that landscape. With some authentic recipes while maintaining the usuals on the menu, this restaurant is slowly earning its fame in the neighborhood. Taste is great while consistency is now becoming this restaurant's significant differentiator. Service is good and they can use some help with ambience. Yet the is place remains the best north Houston has for take out!

Just ok. It's fairly new so we will try again in a few months. One thing I miss about Houston is the dynamite Indian food I got spoiled.

If you're not a fan of spicy, I would stick with level 1 or 2. I ordered mine with basil rice. Pretty good. I'll be back for sure. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy at all. Decor was very basic. I noticed one table that needed to be cleaned the entire time I was there. Bottom line - Really good Indian food. However, The lack of attention to detail in the dining area cost them a star. I'll be back. Bon appétit, y'all.

The Best Indian Food Experience of My Entire Life…read more Listen... I thought I was about to order some basic, predictable Indian food. But the owner stopped us mid-menu and said, "No. I've got you." And THANK GOD he did, because what he brought out changed my entire understanding of what good food is. First came the cauliflower appetizer and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the single most amazing thing I have ever put in my mouth. Perfectly crispy, perfectly sauced, perfectly everything. I will be dreaming about that cauliflower for the rest of my life. Then he brought out two more dishes that were so good I had to just sit there in silence like I was having a spiritual awakening. You can feel the love and passion in his cooking. This man didn't just serve us food he served us his heart, his culture, his everything. The hospitality? Immaculate. You can tell this is his passion and it shines through every second you're there. Nicest man ever, best food ever, best experience ever. I am genuinely thankful to the universe for leading me to this restaurant. If you're wondering whether to go GO. And let him pick your food. Just trust the process. Absolute perfection.

I came in with my husband and 3 kids (one tween, one picky little kid, one picky toddler). We ordered a lot of food so we could share and try it all. There wasn't a single thing anybody didn't like. Samosa, Chana, paneer masala, lentils, roti, naan, the street food things I can't remember the name of right now, and the fried rice. When I say I could eat here every day and never get bored, I mean it. The menu had a lot of classics we have had before and also had a lot of new things we'd never heard of before. The man working there was very kind and answered all of our questions. He even made some great suggestions which we totally went with. He was also very kind and patient when it took us forever to decide because we have picky kids. The prices are very reasonable for what you get but we spent more than we normally would so we could try more stuff. The paneer masala was the best I've ever had. I'm usually more of a korma fan because the tomato can be bitter but the masala here was creamy and flavorful without any hint of bitterness. It was everybody's favorite. If you go here, let them know what you like and listen to their suggestions, especially if there are things you haven't tried. I almost didn't get the dosa but they recommended it and it was my absolute favorite. This is a tiny little hole-in-the-wall type building and you can't see the seating from the parking lot. There isn't decor on the walls and it looks closed until you walk up to the door but I think they might be remodeling or in the middle of redecorating. The inside is very clean and cozy with a variety of booth and table seating of various sizes. We will be back. Actually, if they don't know who we are in just a couple of months, I'll be surprised.

The chicken was perfectly cooked, super tender, and packed with flavor. Every bite had the right balance of spices without being overpowering. You can tell everything is made fresh and with care. The samosas were crispy on the outside with a flavorful filling, and their tikka sauce on the side took it to another level. The chicken pakoras were just as impressive -- crispy, well-seasoned, and not greasy at all. And let's talk about that desi spicy ranch... absolute game changer. It paired perfectly with everything and honestly made the whole meal a 10/10. This is officially my new favorite Indian spot. Highly recommend if you're craving bold, flavorful, and perfectly cooked Indian food. Also, the prices are out great and the service is extremely fast! I'm editing this review because I just tried the tikka masala and the coconut curry as well as the garlic naan at a different location and even their chicken Pecora's at the other location in Montrose was not as good. I would rather drive to spring and go to this location tasted better. coconut curry was good however it's not better than the tikka masala so I wouldn't get it again same with the garlic naan it was good but not something I need cause it comes with basmati rice and I need to remember next time to get the tikka masala at normal heat rather than hot. I feel like the hot overpowers the flavor.

The Biryani lacked flavor. The chicken soup was tasteless ( thickened with too much flour) and the garlic naan was too chewy. The only salvageable part of the meal was the tandoori chicken, which was probably baked because it didn't have the taste /char of being cooked in a Tandoor. There are many good Indian restaurants in the area - Hyderabad house, Silver Spoons etc. I really don't know why this restaurant has good reviews. Very disappointed.

It wasn't too busy, but had a few other customers. We ordered the hyderabadi chicken 65 (deep fried) & I got the veg kurma. The chicken was delicious. It was nice and crispy, juicy, and spicy. The spice had a nice depth & heat. I liked the onions too :) The veg kurma was pretty good. It had a great spice level. Both a mix of spice and heat without being too overpowering. The portion size was enough for two meals. I also got a cup of chai and it was the best chai I've had in a while! I was very happy This place specialized in hyderabadi food (biryanis and such) and their food definitely lived up to the mark! I'll be back here for sure

I also noticed this truck doing Indian/Mediterrean eats and of course my food dopamine cravings called out to check this spot out and order some things. Not wanted to go overboard, I decided on an order of samosas and spicy chicken bites. First off, the people that operate the truck are kind and helpful in explaining spice levels and taste profiles. While this isn't' my first rodeo with indian food, I appreciate how they explained the spicy chicken bites. It has some char with a lot of species and peppers that'll make your head sweat. Well it definitely made me sweat but in an enjoyable way as the spices and seasonings are apparent on the chicken bites. Not to mention it's quite a portion they provide you. The samosas are also quite large with two per order and extraordinary taste with the fillings. For a split second, I wondered if I should've ordered from here primarily but that'll be for my next visit. Other menu items that looked appetizing were the rice bowls (i.e goat bowl, paneer bowl, curry chicken bowl, etc.) and the pakora. Read in another review they do a great goat bowl so that might be my next thing I order from here. And no doubt I plan on returning when I'm in the Spring area!

We had a family dinner--samosas (pea and potato), pakora, a paneer masala rice bowl, a special order of chicken over basmati rice, and a goat rice bowl. We accompanied it with chai tea and had rasmalai for dessert. The pakora and samosas were perfectly fried. Very crisp on the outside and tender inside. The pakora was quite spicy, while the samosa was mild. Served with a very tasty green chutney. You really need to start with these. The cook has excellent technique so I'm sure the Mirchi Bajji (fried green pepper) is good too. The staff was very accommodating with the chicken dish--they invented something on the spot that wasn't on the menu. Very good seasoned chicken and peppers over rice, they should add it. The paneer masala rice bowl was very good, the cheese was cooked just right and the sauce represented well. The goat rice bowl deserves special mention. The goat was incredibly tender and fell off the bones in the dish. I like goat but will avoid it at some places if you have to pick up the pieces to chew the meat off. Not necessary here! The seasoning was excellent, but quite mild. A good dish if you don't want too much spice. The rasmalai was an interesting finish. They serve rasmalai and gulab jamun as desserts. Both start with the same dough, but gulab jamun is fried and soaked in syrup while rasmalai is steamed and soaked in the same sweetened milk and spices as the more familiar Indian rice pudding. Rasmalai is made with rose water, and a little of that goes a long way. I was ok with it but some found it too strong. I enjoyed it as a finish. The dinner was marred by some choices by the venue, La Plaza de los Food Trucks. They had a Christmas event with costumed performers roaming. Would have been fun except they blasted Christmas carols at a volume that caused the speakers to distort. Nowhere to escape. If they were going for a nightclub vibe with dance music I might have understood, but Christmas carols don't need to be that loud. There were not many people there for a beautiful if cool Saturday night, and that might have had something to do with it.
