The patio and outdoor space are really cute, which is what drew us in for brunch. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the atmosphere. We paid around $50 for two breakfast plates, and both were pretty underwhelming for the price. The hash browns were cold and hard, and the savory crepe felt more like a burrito than an actual crepe. Service was okay -- not rude, just a bit cold and not especially welcoming. Overall, I'd probably recommend this spot more for drinks and the ambiance than for brunch itself. I usually like giving places a second chance, but this one just didn't leave enough of an impression to make me want to come back. read more

OMG! This is my new favorite restaurant!!! I have been wanting to try this place for a few years, but some of my family members are gluten free and they can't eat here. We went on a Saturday night and was able to sit at the bar. The warm bread service with butter and oil was incredible! I ended up dipping everything in the butter!! My friend and I had lunch at Tartine Bistro today, and the experience was unfortunately a mix of excellent food and very disappointing service. We ordered the chicken tartine and the beef tartine, and both were delicious. The food was fresh, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of our visit. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the meal. Our server never introduced herself or explained that the iced tea was apricot-flavored. We were expecting regular iced tea, so the unexpected flavor caught us off guard. When we mentioned to another server that it tasted strange, she explained it was apricot tea, but we were never offered a replacement drink. Throughout the meal, our server checked on us only once, briefly. Our water glasses sat empty and were never refilled, even after we had finished eating. We asked for boxes, which were brought with the check, as requested. After I placed my credit card on the check presenter and told her she could take it, she walked past our table multiple times without picking it up. At that point, we were the only customers left in the restaurant, yet she was chatting with other servers instead of completing our payment. After waiting several more minutes, we gave up, paid in cash, and left. It's disappointing because the food was genuinely very good, but for a $54 lunch for two sandwiches, salads, and water, we expected attentive, basic service. A simple introduction, explaining the flavored tea, offering a replacement, refilling water, and processing our payment in a timely manner would have made a significant difference. You have one chance to make a first impression. Based on the experience, I would not recommend and will most likely not return. read more

Great setting. Easy to make online reservations. We had the whipped feta to start. It was such a beautiful marriage of flavors with radishes and and beets. I also tried the mushroom soup. The panko wasn't my favorite topping but the soup was rich and creamy. The sweet crepe was decadent and served around perfectly cooked house bacon. I can't wait to try the other items. I had a lovely dinner at Tartine recently. The inside looks cute, but since we were there during that last warm spell, we took advantage of the final patio dinner of the season (for me anyway). PS - patio is pet friendly. The table next to us had a fairly reactive dog that was a bit distracting and maybe not patio ready, but if your dog is not overly cranky, they are welcome. They have very interesting seasonal cocktails, and while the flavor mine was nice, it had salted caramel on the rim, which sounded good in theory, but was actually kind of sticky. I was there on a Wednesday, which is when they do their half off bottles of wine. We picked something delicious, but the more wine schooled members of my party made that selection. We ordered the cheese plate and the stuffed dates for appetizers. Both were generous portions, and nicely paired flavors. I liked the pickled veggies with the cheese. For an entree, I went with the duck. I love duck, and it's not the most common option, so I get it when I can! This was delicious, pink in the middle with an interesting cherry pan sauce, mashed potatoes, and a green veg. We ended with creme brulee, which was a perfect size, and so creamy. read more

The Italian style outdoor patio drew us in but we were underwhelmed with the service and were quite disappointed with the food. We ate here for brunch and ordered the classic egg breakfast and a savory crepe meal. The shredded potatoes were hard and stale, the bartender was kind to replace them but the result was no different. The crepe was more of an overstuffed burrito, which also included said stale potatoes. Probably a better spot for cocktails but would not recommend 0aying more of a premium to eat here. read more

LOVE this as an option & not an afterthought like most other restaurants. Only the specific brunch cocktails are available, which was fine for me because I wanted a mimosa. They had several different flavors; I got passionfruit. PLEASE WHATEVER YOU DO GET THE FRENCH TOAST BITES. YOUR LIFE WILL BE CHANGED FOREVER. Lovely little patio - the vibes were immaculate. I felt like I was in Paris which is hard to come by in Cleveland. The music on Wednesday evening and half off wine bottles was clutch! We've been going to Tartine for years and have failed to write up a review! We were there for dinner twice in 2 weeks because it was so great! Sitting outside is my favorite- their sidewalk cafe setting in the Old Detroit shopping plaza has great ambiance. And our favorite dishes lately are the shrimp risotto, pork chop, beet salad, gazpacho, and roasted dates. Every time I'm in town, I stop here and have lunch with my sister. The food is fabulous but it's also fun just to sit at the bar and look around. Antique fixtures, the glassware, the colors they used on the walls. Looks like a place out of old Paris. The customer service has always been great. We are treated so well by everyone. The French onion soup was superb and I can't wait to try the mushroom soup. The salmon was amazing. Cannot wait to try the cassoulet and the filet. When I received the bill, I noticed a "service charge" had been added. Really? Since they included that, I decided not to leave an additional tip; they can take it out of the "service charge." I fell in love with the ambience of this place. I seen a TikTok and just had to experience it myself after looking at the unusual options on the menu. We arrived midafternoon on a Sunday. There were maybe 5 tables total once we arrived. They quickly dwindled to leave just us outside and one table inside. Maybe the staff was tired after working a lunch rush but unfortunately it took way longer than anticipated. Drinks were good, and the little food we did get was decent. We did not have enough time to order beyond appetizers due to it taking so long just to put the order in for those. Nothing was worth the wait. We both ordered wine to start, which I have to say was a little on the pricy side per a glass at $14 and $12. We then got the regular French onion soup, which I highly recommend if you come for dinner. The broth had a lot of flavor! I'd give the soup itself 5 stars. What brought my review down to 3 though was my main entree, the ratatouille. The flavor was excellent and this could have been an amazing dish, but the veggies weren't cooked enough. I really should have sent it back but my boyfriend would have been way done with his pizza by the time it came back. I just felt for the pricing, it was a huge let down. I recently went to Tartine Bistro for the first time with a friend for happy hour and I definitely will be returning. The happy hour prices were amazing! I ordered the happy hour cocktail, which was perfectly balanced and delicious. I ordered the chicken tartine and it was amazing! It reminded me of a hearty and comforting thanksgiving dinner. The bread was crusty and everything on the tartine was fresh. The side salad was also surprisingly good -- it wasn't an afterthought. It was perfectly seasoned and dressed! I also ordered the French onion soup and WOW! Probably the best I've had in Cleveland!! A huge plus to this place is that they have fabulous vegan options as well. My friend and I were able to order similar dishes, and she just ordered the vegan version of the French onion soup (which she loved) and the creme brûlée! The creme brûlée was PERFECT! Creamy goodness!! The staff is also incredible -- speedy and friendly. They are enforcing covid restrictions and require folks to wear masks when not seated. My wife had been to Tartine many years ago and enjoyed it, so we finally got around to getting me there this time. We were seated in the back room, a reconditioned space that we much quieter and subdued than the front bar room. Fine by us, since this was a night out for just the two of us. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. We ordered cocktails, and both of us really enjoyed my selection (it was called something like "That State Between Dreaming and Awake") which was bourbon based, kind of like their take on an old fashioned with bitters and absinthe. We decided to start the meal off with their chef's choice cheese board (my wife is in love with cheese). Unfortunately the board was served too cold, but was much better once we let it warm up and the cheese time to bloom. I loved the accompanying grain mustard on the hard cheddar cheese, and the one "funky" soft cheese was excellent. I also enjoyed the smoky bleu that was served. Next, we each ordered a crock of their French onion soup. It had such an unusual state (to start), both my wife and I thought "licorice!" at the same exact time...must have been made with either fennel or star anise in it. But it was still tasty, just not very burgundy / rich in flavor. Already pretty full, we decided to get one of their namesake sandwiches, so we chose the beef short rib tartine. They were nice enough to split the dish for us and it was served open face with cheese topping the tender meat, an au jus for dipping and a small simple salad. The meat was rich, and cutting off hunks of the sandwich for a dip in the jus was the perfect bite. I'm glad we finally made it out to this spot, which is perfect for a date night or intimate evening out with friends. read more

We went here last week. It was so good we came back this week. Pleasant young staff and superb French cuisine in a Bistro setting is a perfect night out! Their tartare appetizer with bone marrow and toast points is outstanding. Their tartines (open face French sandwiches) are delicious- the smoked salmon, beef and prosciutto with Brie are served with a salad, totally refreshing. The French Onion soup is perfect.
