I ordered in from Postmates this morning for breakfast and I got the breakfast sandwich with bacon, and I was very impressed with the pickled carrot that came along with the sandwich. It caught me off guard because I thought it was a regular carrot, but luckily for me, I love pickled items and it paired very well with the sandwich itself, and it balanced out the flavor palette. It was a very nice touch. The eggs were very fluffy and loaded. I also ordered the gluten-free banana walnut muffin, which was perfect to add to my breakfast as a little dessert/pastry. The cashier, though, was short and rushed with me despite zero customers waiting. One-word answers as I asked about pastries, and visible annoyance when I took time deciding on an almond cake slice while a woman lined up behind me. I ordered a black cold brew, ham croissant, and almond-poppyseed cake. $7.75 for a black cold brew?! $21 total for two pastries and coffee. Worst part: he rang me up, then walked off mid-transaction--while I was entering my number for a receipt--to help another customer's pickup order. No line, no rush needed, yet here we are. I went in for the almond lemon poppy seed tea cake and almost left with the whole bakery. The service was exceptional. The cashier and other staff were very helpful and friendly. We ordered a turkey pesto which was nicely executed. I really enjoyed the BLT. The bacon was thick and cooked perfect and I really enjoyed the touch of salsa verde. The almond lemon tea cake has won my mother and I over. We also ordered a few other pastries which all were good. You can tell they take pride in the bakery. The ambiance was quaint and nice. Absolutely LOVE this location! Staff is always pleasant and efficient. Ordering online and picking up from curbside window is easy. I appreciate the good coffee drinks, cortada is my go to! Selection of pastries all are good but the veggie quiche is always fire. There are a few grab and go salads, sandwiches, and drinks although pricy for serving size. But you won't be disappointed. Very cute chic hang out place to have some coffee and chat it up with friends. They have a little set up on the outside to sit down and enjoy your food and drink. I love that they have huge umbrellas as it can get pretty sunny/hot outside. I had trouble deciding on a pastry because they all looked so good but ended up getting the morning bun and it was delicious! I also had the iced vanilla latte that was great. We got the chocolate poppy seed coffee cake and it didn't have much flavor and came with a sandy consistency that I didn't love but my friend did so that's up to preference. This is a delightful retail front for a highly competent bakery that I will be seeking out in future. I had pain croissant and a brewed coffee, both were excellent. The croissant had a crisp, brown flavored exterior and a flaky, airy crumb with a hint of butter. It was simultaneously chewy and melting-in-my-mouth. The coffee was a medium roast, lightly bitter with a complementary roastiness and a mouth filling richness most reminiscent of a spectacular olive oil, the kind you might travel to taste. Really good coffee, but also a perfect match for the bread. Staff were friendly and willing to help you choose. They knew the offerings well. The interior is charming and functional, not awkward to queue or fix your coffee after. The exterior seating is pleasant and clean, but right on a busy street, with all that implies. What a cute spot. I came here with my son on a weekday morning, and was glad to see that they had high chairs, despite only having outdoor seating. I have heard about all the new spots opening up in West Adams so I met a friend here. Be aware, seating is only outside. But it was a nice day so no problem. I ordered the turkey and cheese melt with pesto. Of course, it was on homemade bread and was delicious. Melty and savory and yummy. I also got the hibiscus tea, because to be perfectly frank I'm obsessed with hibiscus tea. (You gotta try it, tart and wonderful and lowers your cortisol levels.) Consistently fails to accommodate. I've experienced this failure before when requesting "no mayo" on sandwiches, for example. Today took the cake, however. I popped in to grab a pastry on my way. The ticket price in the container said $6.25. The person behind the bar rang it up as $6.75. I explained what the ticket price said and he responded the computer doesn't let him reduce the price. I looked at the container and showed him that there was another pastry marked for $6.25 and suggested he could charge me for that one instead. His response was he'd have to give me that one instead. At this point, my response was "...or I can give you nothing" and walked out. Say what you will about my principles, but I am taking the time out to give this establishment 1 star (less if I could) for their lack of professionalism. read more

i'm a consistent regular of this tartine location and always have a great experience with the staff there! they are incredibly friendly and kind :) the vanilla latte is simple, but really hits. the bakery items taste extremely fresh-- i recommend the morning bun and the ham/cheese croissant! there is only outdoor seating and no public restroom/wifi. the seating = a few picnic tables with umbrellas and stand alone circle tables. not a good location for working or prolonged hang outs, as the car traffic can get a little busy/noisy outside the store. read more

I finally got to visit the infamous bakery I've seen all over Tiktok and Instagram. I immediately loved the aesthetic of this location: beautiful plants to greet you at the entrance and outdoor seating with wooden tables placed underneath huge umbrellas. I immediately knew that I wanted to try the morning bun because that's what they're known for. What I didn't know was that I needed their freshly baked loaf of bread in my life. The Multigrain Porridge Bread caught my eye and I loved it. It's definitely on the tangy side but the air pockets were stunning. It had a nice chewy texture with a good crust albeit it being slightly burned. Now, for the long-awaited morning buns. The exterior of these pastries were as hard as a rock. And I mean my arms had a mini workout cutting this pastry in half. Although the outside was tough, the inside was nice and fluffy. It seemed like a sugar overload at first glance, but it actually balanced out nicely since the pastry itself wasn't too sweet. I was mostly surprised that it had an orange zest to it. You might find yourself circling around for some time before finding one, especially if visiting during a busy hour of the day. However, once you step into the bakery, you are smooth sailing, with a variety of amazing pastries, sweet and savory to choose from and a cafe drink menu with all the classics. I ordered jam cookies, a slice of the strawberry cream cake, a chocolate chip walnut cookie, and a banana cream tart. I highly recommend the cake, it was refreshing to have on a hot day.
