Do not come here if you are looking for a therapist or psychiatrist. They mostly rely on nurse practitioners who are clearly not adequately trained. I booked an appointment expecting to see an actual psychiatrist at 8:00 AM. I rushed to get there on time, and since I don't have a car, getting to this appointment was difficult. Despite all of that effort, Lalita Davidoff never showed up. I waited in the office until 8:45 AM with no communication. She eventually called me, and based on the call, I highly doubt she was even in the office -- it sounded like she was at home. This was supposed to be my first appointment with her and she created an awful first impression. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed maybe she had an emergency, so I agreed to take the call. Instead, she acted as if nothing was wrong and showed no acknowledgment of how unprofessional the situation was. The only reason I agreed to continue with a phone appointment was because it took weeks just to get this appointment, and I urgently needed care. Honestly, not being seen at all would have been better. I wasted hours of my time. She was extremely cold, dismissive, and immediately started talking about putting me on medication without doing a full evaluation. After researching the medication she prescribed, I realized how inappropriate it was to recommend something that strong without ever meeting me or conducting a proper assessment. It genuinely felt unsafe. I also truly believe that after I mentioned her tardiness, she became defensive and blamed me -- even going as far as to gaslight my mental health concerns. The entire interaction was unprofessional, careless, and unacceptable. I will be reporting this provider to the medical board. No one seeking mental health care should be treated this way. read more

Stay away from this program. The instructors are terrible except Saul. You only see the teachers once. The entire program and set up is all over the place. If you miss one assignment you'll be threatened with being kicked out. They'll use your good reviews and time in the class so they can collect money for each body. The readings are freaking copies of readings smh Some teachers don't even respond. I used AI on two assignments and they waited until i completed everything to say i was being kicked out. I will not refer anyone to this place and make to spread the word yo my colleagues and anyone else interested in becoming a SUD counselor. This is a review of their online course/certificate program for PSS (Peer Support Specialist). It's one of the Medi-Cal PSS training programs across CA. Employees were all consistently rude, curt, and unhelpful towards me. And then all of a sudden, their mass emails to students were warm, friendly, and respectful. They talk and write respectfully to most students, but if they think you're a certain ethnicity that's not common in their area or at TTCC, they'll automatically be rude and condescending. Rude, curt, discriminatory employees included: -Kimberley Corpeno -Ashley McGowan (passive aggressive) -Alisia Thompson (especially unprofessional given her education and position) This center is in a little-known part of CA with questionable reputation, and I was attending online in a more cosmopolitan part of CA. And apparently, these low-end employees are ignorant, hateful, zenophobic, and just go around being lazy and collecting their paychecks. They show favoritism to some students based on ethnicities they are, while being contemptuous to other students. The course wasn't very good. The PSS program is supposed to cover all aspects of being a PSS, including all common life and mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, stress, workplace, relationships, family, culture, etc. But it only covered Substance Abuse Disorder, and that's only a small minority of patients in my area and community. It had a focus on "social justice," but of course, didn't cover certain groups that need it most. And from their rudeness and contempt, they wanted to stick it to groups that needed it most, too. And the course was fairly poorly done and annoying, with useless content, and endless, tedious writing of reflections on the readings/videos. read more

I have been coming to Tarzana Treatment Center since 2012. While the facility offers a wide range of mental health programs and services, it has been difficult to figure out which options would best suit me When I tried calling the director of mental health services, Andrea, to get answers about a prescription that wasn't refilled as promised and to inquire about other personal matters, I was met with defensiveness and avoidance instead of helpful communication. Though responsive once I got her on the phone, Andrea would repeat herself without directly answering my questions and seemed to imply I was being difficult to understand. After an hour on the phone without my questions being answered to my satisfaction, Andrea told me I was wasting her time. Her dismissive and condescending attitude left me feeling frustrated and unsupported as a patient. Overall, the wide range of options at Tarzana Treatment Center is a positive. However, better communication from staff and more personal, responsive care would go a long way in helping patients navigate the services and get the help they need." Andre Reyes. read more

Did five days of tog it was worth it. Everybody at the facility is professional and nice. Getting clean and sober is the best decision I've made so far in 2024. I'm at outpatient now going to classes three times a week. Don't think about it check in the detox and get your program started. Your life will change right away. We'll start thinking way different. This place is nothing less then a blessing. Dr. Nicholas is a very caring, professional and an intelligent person. He is never in rush. He will answer every question and he will make phone calls for his patients. He is one of the most kindest and nicest person I have ever met in my life. Completely unsafe, medically, incompetent dishonest. I won't go in a lot of details but they've lied so many times and and blame someone else. One gentleman almost died because they didn't know how to treat a diabetic and gave him too much insulin which I witnessed then they freaked out and didn't know what to do had trouble responding. I mean, they did not know what to do.? incompetence is the best they have and negligence seems to be the norm. I'm considering litigation, and after talking to some other medical professionals, the state needs to look into them again as they seem to be under investigation often. Any response from them will not address the issues. I am writing about. It's an extension of the prison system so almost everybody there is there was just out of jail. There's nothing wrong with that except that a lot of them don't complain because they used to being institutionalized, and one of them said it's "not as bad as prison and there's plenty of red Kool-Aid" my room had no bathroom and the sink was broken. The doctor was unfamiliar with common medication's that I was already taking and I was told to check in drunk because of the intake being lengthy. That's not just something that I'm saying, I have a witness to it that's a mental health professional employed by the state. it is the only detox that takes Medi-Cal and that's the only reason people go there. I didn't realize that until I was already inside. You will be searched, which is not common for any detox and the staff is either just out of school or so jaded and better they don't care anymore. If you complain loud enough, they will respond and frequently offer you a cigarette. I left before 24 hours and when I was questioned why I explained to them how unsafe it was and that they did not provide any medical care. They put everybody on the same drugs, two of which you shouldn't be on if you have certain medical conditions, the nurses were unaware of this, but acted as if I was mistaken. My blood pressure was at 185/120 and I was told that wasn't so bad that when I told them that if I were at the ER, they would not let me leave until My number came down, I asked them if they knew what stage two hypertension numbers were and they were silent. The diabetic gentleman that was in there told them they were giving him too much insulin which I witnessed and they did it anyway. You're better off detoxing at the ER and going to social services, do not go to this place for any reason other a court mandate. The only reason they're there is for profit and when I tell you, it's like jail, my roommate who is a great guy said it was as close as you can get without a felony. I was there after a brief binge from some tragic circumstances other people were there as a last resort and unfortunately they won't get help after seeking it there because help is the last thing they offer. The details get much more ugly and specific, but this is yelp so I try and keep it. relevant for your own safety go to the ER and get social services. That's what Medi-Cal's for when you're ill. This place causes more harm and does no good. Jenny Godoy makes coming to the doctor as if I'm meeting with friends for coffee. They really work with you but you have to tell them what's going on. I was switched to this office for my primary care physician the beginning of July, where I requested a referral to a dermatologist I had been seeing previously before my insurance changed. It has been almost a MONTH since I requested the referral, and Jeniffer, who was assisting me with getting it, was nice but of NO help. She kept saying it would take more time (that is, whenever I could reach her over the phone. I rarely would ever get a call back). It turns out that after I was told to call my provider, that could not get the referral due to my medical group. She could have found that out over the phone as fast and easily as I did! Instead I was lead on for a month! I desperately needed this information much sooner! Not to mention, I had to call to get my lab results, as no one bothered to reach out to me from the office, either! I have never had to do that with any other office before. Unreliable office. I am very frustrated, and will not return. I wish things had gone differently. read more

Initially my first visit here I was super sketched out. It's not great looking inside so the appearance will not be what you hope for lol remember this is a treatment center but also a medical clinic for healthcare. I wasn't a fan at first but the staff warmed up to me. I was going to switch my doctor on my medical as soon as I saw this place but after getting a shot here from the girl Esperanza staying. I am such a weenie when it comes to needles and she was amazing with me! She made it as comfortable and painless as possible! There's also a girl named Jenny is I think her name may be Jessica who is amazing. She did all my authorizations for my optometry referral and ultrasound referral and ordered the shot I wanted. She was super on top of everything and called me often to let me know what was the status of everything. Yeah it may be not so pretty but the staff is quality. read more

I started at the main center located in Tarzana to detox and then was fortunate enough to get into their transitional housing program located in Reseda. They set me up with free housing at a clean house in a nice neighborhood. I have only been at the house for 2 days but there are only 4 of us living here. They will help you get as much benefits as possible to help you get back on your feet. All they ask is that you work the program and attend meetings and really work hard at becoming sober. Getting sober is not an easy task so you have to want it. They offer all the help, you just have to want it and follow the rules. The staff has been really nice to me. read more

Twice I registered with Tarzana Treatment center for an appointment to have the Moderna vaccination, both times I arrived for the appointment and was told they were not doing vaccinations. That I should have received a text to convey that. No text received, no email, nothing. What a waste of time, I took time off work. I would not trust an inefficient medical facility like this with my health. read more

While I am aware that treatment is built upon the condition of willingness to go to any lengths, I can honestly say that Tarzana Treatment Centers provided me with opportunity. The resources are minimal in the way of funding but more than enough to build a solid foundation in which climb out of the hole that I dug for myself. Made appt. for a referral to a specialist ,called prior they said i could come in the same day to get referral ,i arrive on time and i waited approx. 20 mminutes one of the intake staff calls me up to front desk and asks me if i was here for methadone or suboxone which is what they subscribe to people who are strung out on heroin i said no i need a simple referral to a specialist so i took a seat approx. 2 hrs later i was still waiting to see doctor i asked whats up with the doctor and they began to call to find where my doctor was so i wait another 20 mins and a nurse comes out and tells me that my doctor (Kaplan)the only one i trust is no longer there( Dr. K. simply gave me what asked for a referral to a specialist for whatever!!! ) im in the office and they gave me a number to call to make an appt with their doctor on duty , and insisting i need a physical etc. I said ok but can you refer me to an optometrist now to check my eyes they said i had to make an appt. and they would give me the referral 2 weeks after, and only because they insist on giving me a physical then they will send referral ,i cant wait that long , they obviously do not have a physician Avail to give me a referral and are not really concerned about time constraints, i explained the reason for my visit and all they want to do is give me a physical and do bloodwork , ill give them their bloodwork but i am not happy w the insinuations all structured to get clients into the rehab ,so it will be really interesting when they find out im clean and sober , the atmosphere at this office is simple a bunch of ex. dope fiends on power fantasies trying to throw a curve ball at you in hopes of getting a client and making things difficult for you cuz they think everyone is high, so this place is a nonprofit cesspool of corruption aimed at keeping clients on the hook for profit ,its really an extension of the jails system ,they have lost a major client base when felony pcs. was made a misdemeanor ,and because they lost that ability to herd the sheeple through a revolving door that has been proven a failure and treat people who are clients w/ threats and attitude, only the ability to threaten clients w a court date is not as prevalent but stiil ok for high profile case cuz a conviction for possession does not carry time its a fine ,no longer can they incarcerate you for possession of drugs / only large quanties ,in closing you enter the doors to this office they judge you and devise a plan that will keep you in the loop for as long as possible ,and they are all in it for profit along w / being a extremely corrupt non- profit no better than the BLMs and the thousands of activists nonprofits , this rehab has been repeatedly investigated and even though they are in violation they still operate w / impunity , when they where able to ruin lives with the squirt into a bottle, i was one of the people who they along w the failed justice system incarcerated for a possession that i took cuz they were going to put it on my girlfriend who because of their policy of putting profit ahead of people and treating people like inmates they have led the industry in profit and w/ failed rehabilitation that conveniently translates into more rehab and more profit and if you like being looked down upon and treated like a dope fiend and are ok w a medical history that details drug use 1st and foremost and treats you like a dirtbag cuz you are on (medi-cal) then you have come to the right place and its a shame that they have my history of drug use and are so sure i use that they failed to even ask me about it the fact is i havent used any narcotics for five years ,but they are oblivious to that ,it will be interesting when they do my bloodwork find out im clean and a physical that i had about 2 months ago showed nothing wrong .but ill let them rip of the taxpayer cuz they conveniently do not scrutinize medical procedures unless it can corner you into re-hab ,im afraid the new laws on drugs will only make these non-profits even more about ruining peoples lives under the guise of rehabilitation ,profit ,and a lifetime of misery ,not to mention every time ive gone here for an appt it takes 2 hours waiting in the office w/ people who are so naive and sure that ttc is looking out for them, TRUST ME YOU ARE A NUMBER, THEY HAVE SHOWN THAT ANY COMPASSION IS CHECKED AT THE DOOR AND PROFIT IS THEIR MAIN GOAL THEY ARE VOID OF ANY GUILT CUZ THEY ARE TRAINED TO FEEL VERY LITTLE AND5 YOUR LIFE AND SUCCESSFUL REHAB IS NOT PROFITABLE when claimlng you are a horrible criminal who a danger to him self and others is standard ive sucessfully completed their programin the pastbut they ither dont know that or do not care ill get back to u re: the outcome of this drama read more

This place is great after I left there main location, I came here because they offered transitional housing so you can get you live back together. They have very structured outpatient groups with 10 people or less so you feel in safe enough to share if you want. I've gotten a lot of this place it's help me grown. And it will help continue to provide health care services once I decide to move on with my life. read more

I've been very fortunate that Public Health Care covers this Treatment facility. Few if any others could have such a Devoted and Patient Staff of caring Counselors and professional Therapists who educate addicts on their disease and give them the tools to fight their relapses with compassion and understanding that carries the Ship of their lives through the Storms of their Life to being free and living happy and continuing in the community the support that many after them will need. It's hard to face the truth and no malibu palace is going to change the fact that what addicts face is a self born struggle. Tarzana offers a brass tacks approach to educating, relating, and one on one counseling sessions that resemble the basic functions of life. Respect, Safety, Compassion, and above all Advocacy for the Patient are the fundamentals I experienced being a patient here. But, I had to want to get through it and I had to listen, once I surrendered and found the methods being applied to me helpful, I was relieved and now I'm so much happier. The Counselors fought my addiction side by side with me and often times I fought them but in time I was able to keep learning and practicing what I was being taught. I have no great words of inspiration, I just wanted sobriety more than I didn't and thankfully I had people who didn't give up on me when I gave up on me. If you want out of the darkness you can't look for another light as much as you should make it when you shine. Thank you Tarzana, I like the outpatient exercises and it saved me from another terrible relapse. read more

The program started off ok until a few months in when suddenly with no prior notice the counselor who took care of my case was changed to a counselor who fails to pick up or return calls and after calling her for over a month and complaining to higher up she finally comes to the phone to let me know she gave me a negative note for me to take to court when directly prior to her taking my case during the time I was actually madated to be there,my prior couselor left me a much better note, she also greatly appears to be under some sort of use which was spoken of a bit which made sense due to her obvious lack of sleep, appearance, faulty memory and demeanor, the therapist I was beginning to open upto left suddenly, there is constant relapse, which to me speaks in volumes about the programs. From my observance and connections here the inpatient program seems more enabling to an unhealthy lifestyle if anything with relapses being over looked meanwhile there's super strict limitations on visiting family and friends. I get the sense this program cares more for the intake from clients than the actual clients themselves of course there are major exceptions amoungst the staff. If you go herr good luck and hope you have a better expierience than I did. read more

This place is a hack. The Van Nuys courts send all of their drug court cases here because as one lawyer put it, "we can basically get people in there for free." And that's the case because it's one of the cheapest rehabs there is and believe me it shows! Yes there are some nice people that work there and truly care to make a difference, as there should be and as there are at all rehabs. But by and large the place is poorly equipped with treating people who struggle with addiction. The groups are not well thought out at all, the living arrangements are hideous and the energy of the place does not lend itself to fostering a warm, nurturing and positive environment. And please don't ask about the food because you don't even want to know. This place makes airplane food seem 5 star. I am not exaggerating at all when I say that the food is truly a slight cut about jail food. Spare yourself the headache and research other rehabs before you commit yourself anywhere.
