So many things went wrong with this place. I took my mom here for her birthday this past weekend and it was a very disappointing experience. The restaurant was extremely cold. We complained to the waitress and she claimed the heat was at 85 degrees. It was not. It felt like the AC was on and it was blowing cold air. It probably felt like 60 in there. We couldn't enjoy our food at all because it got cold immediately. We ordered two tapas and a paella de mariscos. Everything was extremely salty. We got the rabo de toro and the mushrooms. The paella was not cooked well and they put and excessive amount of shrimp or fish broth. Not sure what it was but it was so potent it made it hard to eat. The vibe of the restaurant is also very depressing. Everything looks old and not maintained. It seems like the owners of this place don't really care about how the place looks. They just care about making money and offering poor quality food. I will definitely not be coming here in the future. Those were the worst $100 I have ever spent. read more

I have been wanting to try Tasca for a long time. My daughter's live just down the street. We went last Friday night with a party of 8. We arrived about 5 minutes ahead of our reservation and were seated right away. They have outdoor seating but we choose indoor, the only problem with that was it was very warm inside. Our server was great. He suggested the wine which was a dry red that was good and reasonably priced. He made sure we understood anything on the menu that we were unfamiliar with. As busy as it was we never lacked for attention. Being a party of eight, I believe we tasted almost everything on the menu. The amazing thing was Everytime we ordered more tapas, they were delivered to the table in mere minutes. Everyone raved about everything that was ordered. I can only comment on what I tried, among the oodles of tapas ordered The lamb lollipops were delicious, I could have sat down to several plates of those. Crispy potatoes with Brava sauce, the potatoes were creamy inside and crispy outside, and wonderful. The Grilled brie cheese with apple clutney, fresh pear and garlic crostini. What a great combination, the apple chutney was outstanding. Grilled ratatouille with roasted zucchini, green pepper, eggplant, tomato and garlic crostini, this was the most flavorful ratatouille I have ever had. Fried squid with aioli sauce on the side. This was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Duck wings glazed in triple sec, orange and cinnamon sauce. I would not order these again. They were dry and tough. What I really came there for was the Paella de Mariscos. Saffron rice stew, made with mussels, cockie clams, calamari and shrimp, in a lobster and shrimp broth. First of all this is made to order so be prepared to wait while it is being prepared. First of all when it came out it had the most wonderful aroma of the sea. The rice though it had an awesome flavor, it lacked the crispy bottom that paella is known for. A bit disappointing. The mussels, clams and shrimp were cooked to perfection. The calamari though was very tough. After eating one or two I pushed the rest to the side. For dessert I ordered the Crema Catalina, and a glass of Porto. Both met all my expectations. Again the restaurant did very well taking care of a table of eight hungry adults, even with some having gluten intolerance diets. Got there a few minutes early and there was a line out the door of 15 or so people, all waiting for a reservation, meanwhile there was not a single open table in the restaurant. My girlfriend and I waited another 20 minutes and watched another 5+ couples show up, while not a single person got seated. Spoke to a hostess or server and they said to just get in line and wait - no apology or anything for the blatant disregard for people's time. What a horrible business. I really wanted to love Tasca - the ambiance was cute and the staff was nice. However, the service was ~very~ slow and the food was mediocre at best. It was fairly prices for a tapas bar. For context, we went on a rainy Tuesday evening, the restaurant was not that crowed, around 7:30PM, but it picked up throughout the night. We started off with the charcutería - which was good; however, it took more than 45 minutes to get to the table (which we feel is unexpectable since it's only 3 cheeses, two cured meats, and a handful of fruit). The slices of baguette bread was good - but nothing better than fresh supermarket bread. We also ordered: Albondigas de Cordero - lamb meatballs: do not recommend, it was more binder/bready than lamb. Super lack luster. Croquetas de Jamón Ibérico y Manchego - ham and cheese croquets: it was okay, nothing to write home about, it did come with 5 pieces, so it would be shareable Calamares Fritos - fried calamari: best part of the night, super crispy, not too oily Croqueta de Bogavante - lobster croquet: it had a weird, unfresh, fishy smell to it), it also just comes with one Patatas Bravas - potatoes: the sauce and the potatoes were dry - yes, the sauce was dry Croquetas de Boletos (it was meh). I wish that I had taken pictures instead of scarfing down the tapas. They have an extensive vegetarian menu, my favorite being the ratatouille (served cold). Also the pear chutney and Brie was a sublime combination of savory cheese and sweet pear spread. The staff were very knowledgeable about the food and wines. It was a pleasure to be able to taste several wines before deciding on a bottle. The ambiance is more traditional, European restaurant. Shrimp and garlic in olive oil, chorizo sausages, croquettes stuffed with cheese and ham, a lamb kebab, and ending up with a baked brief with apples and a sweet onion relish. Amazing. Delicious. My bf and I came here on a Monday night and we were pleasantly surprised. For drinks, I had the red sangria and my boyfriend had a margarita. The drinks were good and refreshing. The margarita had a fruity flavor to it..maybe orange? For the tapas, we had the Entrana a la padilla (skirt steak) - medium rare, empanadas de carne, croquet as de jamon iberico, patatas bravas, pollo al ajillo, berenjenae con miel (eggplant sticks), croquetas de cangrejo (crab coquette), and the bolas de queso (goat cheese balls). Everything came out in a timely manner and was delicious. The skirt steak was so darn good. Perfect medium rare and scrumptious. The empanadas was crunchy and the beef inside was well seasoned. The jamon conquet was one of my bf's favorites. Crunchy outside and soft inside. The potatoes were great as well. The sauce is spicy! The pollo was tender and garlicy. The pollo could have used a pinch of salt but otherwise is was just right. The eggplant sticks were crunchy and soft inside. The cane sugar honey was a lovely compliment. The crab balls were my favorite. The crab Croquetas were crack and had fresh crab. They were soft and tender inside and crunchy outside. The goat cheese balls were really good. My bf doesn't like goat cheese but he did like these balls. The smell is not overpowering especially with the sugar cane honey. For desert, as full as we were, we got the pudin de chocolate. It's basically like a chocolate cake/brownie, less sweet more on the cocoa/bitter side with vanilla ice cream. I liked it but it may not be for kids. Next time, I shall get the flan! All of the food was really good. You can tell that it is authentic and made fresh. Everything is well priced for what you get and the quality. If I had to pick my favorites, it would be the skirt steak, crab Croquetas, ham croquet, and the empanadas. The server was friendly and attentive. The decor inside is colorful. This place is good for a date or dinner with your friends. For COVID, they have partitions which have been painted so you would not know that they are partitions but more of art. One thing, though, the pulpo a la galega (octopus) was only so-so, but then again that's a Galician specialty, not Catalan, so I won't hold it against that restaurant. Tasca is sophisticated tapas restaurant that maintains a sense of flavor and culture from Spain. When I entered in the restaurant, it felt as if I stepped out of Boston and into a new country. The staff was welcoming and friendly and all followed through with covid-19 safety practices. I ordered a rosé sangria which was light, fruity, and delicious. The menu itself has a wide variety of different tapas ranging from bread, meat, vegetable, and seafood tapas. We ordered 6 different tapas, which were all delicious. My favorite was the Gambas al Pil Pil, which was shrimps flavored with spicy garlic oil. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly and came with baguette slices in which I dipped the bread into the sauce. This is a great place in Brighton that reminds my husband and I of our time in Sevilla. The food feels home cooked and authentic l, unless a lot of the modern Spanish places in Boston proper. You definitely need a reservation (even with one there can be like a 10-15 min wait) on a weekend night. Highlights would be jamon croquettes, pulpa de la plancha. I would pass on the lamb meatballs and the ratatouille if I had to choose again. For a larger main, I really liked the seafood stew. It tastes like paella but no rice ( so less carbs!). And when you've spent time in Spain, it makes the real thing even harder to find Stateside. Tasca not only boasts authentic flavorful dishes, but the prices are more than reasonable. One thing I've discovered in my travels is that good food doesn't have to hurt your wallet. 6 tapa plates + sangria ~ $45. Some of the standouts include Patatas bravas, confit de pato, and the surprising setas al Jerez. If you can somehow get your hands on the mashed potatoes, you won't regret it. (They aren't offered as an individual item, but I'm sure the lovely staff will fulfill your request) Tasca far and away exceeded my expectations, easily better than any option in the city. Not really sure what the mixed reviews are about, but they were definitely on their A+ game on my visit. Better than the food was the exception customer service. We have been here a couple times and really want to give at least 4 stars but a recent visit really soured our relationship with this restaurant. First of all the tapas are excellent. We haven't ordered any tapas that we wouldn't get again. Recently went with a vegetarian friend which turned out great as there is a whole vegetarian section so more than enough delicious options. Every time we have been we leave wishing we could eat just a couple more tapas just to be able to try. However, our most recent visit we tried the Paella Mariscos which was nowhere near the standard of their tapas. The calamari was so over cooked it was like chewing a rubber band, shrimp was over cooked/flavorless, and muscles/clams were fishy. On top of this the seasoning for the entire dish was off, some parts very fishy other parts extremely salty. As wasteful as it felt we couldn't eat anymore of the dish after taking our few bites. This ended up adding to the poor experience as the waitress turned a little rude towards us for not eating the poor quality dish even though we cleared out all of our other ordered tapas. On top of this, despite sending back the near full dish and receiving the cold shoulder from our waitress we still had to pay for our uneaten paella which is understandable but it just left a sour taste in my mouth. In all fairness the waiter who came to charge us for the check offered to ask about taking the paella off but I didn't want to cause anymore trouble or interact with our waitress any further. All in all, order tapas and you will be good. Highly recommend staying away from at least the Paella Mariscos. Good restaurant but not sure if we will return again. read more

Was really excited to hear there was a tapas restaurant a few stops down the B Line from my apt and when my coworker gifted us $40 via OpenTable I gladly booked my reservation to Tasca! Between the two of us, The Boy and I ordered 6 tapas + 1 side so Top and Bottom of all the ones we try below! T TOP: Gumbo española, Asado de cerdo (this char grilled pork dish is really tied together by the sweet chili jam - not just top, but a must-try!), Albondigas (delicious & cheesy yum!), BOTTOM: Los tres amigos, Confit de pato (had high hopes for this duck, but it just wasn't a tender/fall-off-the bone) MIDDLE - aka we were both getting pretty fully so I ate one of the tapas and The Boy had the other - not an overwhelming consensus on either: Costillas de ternera (horseradish crème fraîche & root veggies really complemented the short rib - ended up taking this home and was able to enjoy it in its full the next day), Croquetas de pollo - The Boy really enjoyed these. Side of green beens was necessary to supplement our meat-heavy dinner. The green beans actually came out first so it wasn't really much of a side though. We finished it before our first round of tapas arrived. Dessert is BOMBBBBB at Tasca. The Boy and I really shouldn't have after essentially 7 courses but we were glad we did! Crepe Helado is among the best dessert I have EVER EATEN. I did not expect it to come out in the form it did but the portion was GIANT but even The Boy thought the dessert was amazing. Wheels of cookie ice cream with a thin crepe wrap around the outside smothered in chocolate and amaretto sauce is BOMB. Their Flan is pretty good too. Though they have a nice variety of tapas that do differ from the other tapas restaurants found throughout Boston, the service here though friendly can be iffy. The Boy would've had 3-4 beers throughout this meal but only had 2 because of slow service. The later in the night it got and as more of our tapas were served, the less we saw our waitress. We were turning our heads left and right for about 10 minutes at the end of our meal looking to get the check and leftovers wrapped up. Rounding up for the stars but overall Tasca gets a 3.5/5 for me slipping due to inconsistency between tapas and how badly service seemed to slip as the night went on. For the 6 tapas, 1 side, half a pitcher of sangria, 2 beers, and 2 desserts - this was a VERY affordable tapa spot compared to Estragon and Barcelona; The Boy and I were floored at how cheap it was even if we didn't have a gift card. read more

It took us a while to find parking and we had to walk a bit from our spot so we arrived a little late. It was a beautiful day and we wanted to sit outside but all outdoor seating was occupied when we arrived. Indoors there's two levels of seating with smaller tables upstairs and booths etc. on the lower level. The lower level isn't handicap accessible so we had to carry our stroller down about 3 steps. Once seated we were able to take in the aesthetic. The only word I can think of to describe it is rustic, but I'm sure some hipster out there would correct me. It has a classic feel and I imagine this is how a traditional Spanish restaurants should look. The owner greeted us and he was delightful. He guaranteed the food would be delicious and said he cover our bill if it wasn't. He's lucky I know a good joke when I see one because the food was not delicious. We ordered a ton of food: gazpacho, garlic shrimp, garlic chicken, skirt steak, patatas bravas, tomato bread and paella. The tomato bread was actually pretty good but everything else fell short of what I expected. Prices were similar to another local tapas spot, Barcelona, but food wasn't as good. The restaurant has a great wait staff and a ton of character so if you're looking for something different it's a cool place to check out. PROS: - Great service. My guest and I kept getting very caught up with the conversation and forgetting to focus on the menu and they were nothing but patient and pleasant. The maître d'hôtel was such a sweet old man, so professional and welcoming at the same time. He made sure to make the time to come by and ask how we were doing despite the waiters already doing the same and it being an incredibly busy night (all the tables that I saw were filled) - Despite the crowd, the place followed COVID precautions and made me feel safe - Jamon Iberico y Manchego: I absolutely love their jamon iberico, which is a must try! The manchego cheese is just perfection - its subtle sharpness helps cut some of the fattiness of the jamon - Solomillo de Ternera a la Pimienta: Very tender and cooked medium as asked. Only concern was the bread, not quite sure how it adds to the dish and why the chief made the choice. It was a small slice of baguette that did not seem to contribute much to tie in with the steak which seemed to do well on its own. - Chuletas de Cordero: So tender it almost pulls from the bone in the first bite. I love the gamey flavor but for those are tend to steer away from lamb due to this, do not worry. They cooked this perfectly without pulling out the gamey stench and the mint yogurt sauce on top brightens the whole dish together - Charcuteria: Can't go wrong with the cheeseboard. On an added note, can I just say how much I appreciate it when a restaurant makes sure the fruit they place on their cheeseboards are actually sweet? Wow! This was recommended to me by a coworker and it didn't disappoint. The service was amazing even before we arrived to the restaurant. We were having some trouble finding parking and contacted the restaurant to see if they had any recommendations. Luckily, the had valet self parking as a courtesy! All you had to do was contact the restaurant, grab a valet ticket to put on your dashboard, and then you were able to park in the Whole Foods lot around the corner. Maybe a 2 min walk from Whole Foods to Tasca. We were immediately greeted by a gentleman who was extremely friendly and personable. The inside has cute Spanish decor and it makes you feel like you are no longer in Boston. Any questions we had were answered with enthusiasm and it made the dining experience that much more enjoyable. We were recommended to try either the mojito or the sangria as a Tasca favorite. We went with the mojito which was refreshing, but a little heavy on the mint. There were mixed reviews at our table on the drink as some felt that the mojito was very strong and others felt it tasted like sprite. Regardless, it was still refreshing. As far as the menu goes, it is pretty expansive, ranging from seafood to vegetable to meat tapas. They also have different types of paella and cheeseboard to try as well! We opted in for a few items from each category. I wish I took more photos of the food, but it all looked so good we just dove right in! Gambas al Ajillo- super tasty! The garlic oil added the perfect touch. I think it came with about 6 pieces of shrimp as well (although not huge as it is tapas). They also brought use some homemade bread to dip in the garlic oil which was SO tasty! Definitely recommend! Empanadilas de Queso y Alcachofa- YUM! These are mini empanadas. All I have to say is you can't go wrong with any of the empanadas they have on the menu. The exterior is so crunchy and delightful, but even the ingredients on the inside made it all the much better. The empanadas also came with a red paste, so definitely make sure to add that for extra flavor! Definitely recommend! Ensalada de la Casa - this was also really good! Whatever dressing came on this salad really made the whole dish. It was also one of the bigger tapas options that they had out of the options we picked. Alcachofas Fritas- I was really hoping to like this, but this was the tables least favorite dish. The artichokes were fried which were nice, but some of the rough skin was still on the artichoke which made it difficult to eat. The romesco sauce also didn't really add additional flavor to the artichoke. Might've been better if the artichokes were seasoned with something. Entraña a la Parilla- omg! They are AMAZING. I think the general consensus at the table was this was our favorite dish. The only thing to be mindful of is that it is only 2 empanadas, unlike the empanadillas which came with 4. The empanadas are big enough to cut in half and share among 4 people, but believe me, you'll be wanting more! The meat inside was cooked perfectly and the flavoring had a little kick but was super tasty. Definitely recommend! Croquetas de Jamón Ibérico- also super tasty. It almost reminded me of a mozzarella stick with ham on the inside. I believe it came with about 5 small pieces so it is easily shared among friends! We ended up at Tasca because a nearby tapas restaurant chain had a very long wait. Welllllll, we were so happy we ate here. The plates and atmosphere were very authentic. Came here last night for a business dinner and called to make a reservation 30 minutes ahead. I had a hectic day and I must say that the woman who took my reservation had such a calm and warm tone that I instantly felt good about this new place. Myself and future business partners ordered wine (Tempranillo) appetizers (croquetas and squid) ), entrees (I had the shrimp) and dessert (rum raisin bread pudding). All INCREDIBLE. I lived in Barcelona and do not remember croquetas ever tasting this good. The staff were very sweet and the space is super elegant. I'm very happy we came. read more
