I ordered Kiki's Soul Food Plate with four chicken wings, string beans, sweet potato soufflé, and a muffin, along with a side of collard greens. The chicken wings were fried to a good consistency, but once I bit into them, the chicken was extremely dry--much drier than I expected. The string beans and collard greens were okay, but honestly, neither was anything special. The sweet potato soufflé was another surprise. When I took a bite, I tasted what seemed to be a clove, and I actually had to spit it out. That was definitely not what I expected when ordering sweet potato soufflé I am not a big fan of cloves. The muffin was probably the best part of the meal. It was hot, edible, and had more of a cake-like texture, which I actually enjoyed. I'm not someone who judges a restaurant based on one visit, especially since I've eaten at Kiki's several times before. But this particular visit just didn't live up to my previous experiences. The food and the service both missed the mark this time. I hope this was simply an off day because I would like to see Kiki's do better.

The sauce they include for it on the side was horrible. It had a overpowering vinegar taste. I hated it! The mac & cheese was basic and I didn't care for all of the parsley packed on top. I was told 5 cheeses are used in their mac recipe but I couldn't tell. It had no real flavor. The greens were just okay. It was supposed to have spices in it from what I was told but I had to dump a cup of hot sauce in it for the spice and flavor. One of my sisters ordered salmon. She said the seasoning used on the salmon was really good but she also said you can tell its not fresh salmon; more like frozen pack salmon.
