We stopped here because we were seeing Wicker at the Koger Center. We were able to park for the event and walk to the restaurant in the same parking lot. We informed the waitress that we were under a bit of a time crunch and so we placed our order at the first interaction. Within 10 minutes we all 3 had our food, and everything correct. My shrimp PoBoy was excellent and the sweet tea. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was great and the place looked really nice but was mostly empty due to the time of day. It's a place I would easily visit again.

We stopped in at this restaurant that is diagonally across from Colonial Life Arena. We were really early, and the restaurant started to get crowded after we arrived. Service was efficient, as were our drinks and food. I ordered Sweet Chili wings and Sweet Potato fries. I give both 5/5 stars as I enjoyed them immensely. I also enjoyed a Ye Olde Spur drink, expertly prepared, with Elijah Craig Bourbon, Black Walnut Bitters, Orange Bitters, and Simple Syrup. My experience was far better than anticipated.

5 stars for the service!!! We had Sid as our server and she was amazing! There was also another young lady that we thought was a manager or supervisor who frequently checked on us who was very kind as well, we felt the hospitality!! Food was great and the dust off the show was the crab dip! If you go you have to get it! Wings lacked flavor and seasoning after being recommended the dry rub. Brussels were a really good add on! They have a great drink menu which i forgot which one we tried outside of my red wine! Place was clean and nicely decorated.

The food was mediocre. We sat at the bar and there were only 2 bartenders on a crowded Friday night. Glasses that needed to be washed were all over the end of the bar. Our bartender was taking dinner orders and making drinks. He was definitely stretched out. My crab dip had too much bread crumbs and my friend's shrimp and grits wasn't very tasty. This was the night of a concert and they weren't properly staffed. However our bartender was going to the back to get orders along with making drinks and taking orders. John deserves a raise for wearing so many hats.

Came in here for a bite before a basketball game across the street and we were quickly sat. The server seemed new but she was polite and had a good sense of humor and did a great job. The food was a little slow coming out but we were catching up with friends so it wasn't a huge deal (but we did just barely make it to the start of the game despite arriving at the restaurant nearly 2 hours before the game time). The food was delicious and I love the style of kitchen where you can see a lot of the prep and cooking being done. Nice vibes and wasn't too loud or anything but people were enjoying themselves and there were lots of sports fans! Overall a great experience!

Went here for the 1st time on Thursday November 6th 2025 with my Aunt and Mom, as we needed a bite to eat before seeing The Jonas Brothers at colonial Life Arena that night. Luckily, this restaurant is within walking distance of Colonial Life, and is literally right across the street. We were greeted by a host, who almost sat us outside, but then we were able to get a high top table. Our server greeted us right away and served us waters. The Menu basically had lots of sandwiches and burgers, but sure is enough to get filled up. First we started with Quesadillas as an appetizer. Then for entrees I got a hamburger M with sweet potato fries, My aunt got a chicken caesar salad, and my mom got a chicken sandwich with fries. Food came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed the appetizer and my burger as well as fries. Waitress did a good job checking on us and refilling our waters. We got the check right away, and paid with a credit card, and left a cash tip. Would definitely come again if we are in the area.

I found out about this place from the ColaToday newsletter issue dated 12/11/2024. The issue listed several Soda Citizens and traveling food influencers from the area. I checked out @David_mcnamara and he was the first to review this place. Well I had to check this place out right after work. I'm glad I did. Chris the bartender was great. He recommended a few dishes. I chose the Chicken Souvlaki Gyro with fries! It was delicious! The atmosphere is encouraging. What I mean by that is it presents a new vibe for Columbia. Something like what you would find in Charlotte, NC. They have plans on expanding on that vibe. You wouldn't be sorry if you came here. I plan on going back for brunch and dinner soon. The menu has a lot of great items to choose from and I plan on trying most of them. :)

Not a fan of a buffet. We went on Sunday and that is all they offered. Selections were varied but nothing special.

The food was pretty good overall, but my chicken salad sandwich was extremely disappointing. The croissant was very dry, and the shredded chicken combined with the consistency of the dressing was not at all what I expected. After only a couple bites, I left the entire sandwich untouched. What was even more disappointing was that when our waitress brought the bill, she clearly noticed I hadn't eaten the sandwich and chose not to ask about it. At this price point for lunch, I would have expected the situation to be handled a little differently. We sat in the covered outdoor area, which was nice, but there's also an uncovered outdoor section with older picnic tables that don't really match the vibe of a more upscale lunch spot. If you plan to sit outside, I'd recommend making your seating preference clear when booking.

They were all so sweet and really went above and beyond to make sure it was a high-quality experience. I noticed that they openly advertise that they don't accept tips and have slightly higher prices in order to pay their workers a living wage, and the results were directly reflected in the customer service that I received. As for the food and drink (coffee), that was pretty good as well! While I do wish that they might have had bagels, the croissant that I substituted it for was warm, buttery, and tasty, and it was a nice change from my usual coffee shop meal, as I've only had a croissant a handful of times. The coffee was fine, and I loved how they offered free refills, which I've noticed that other local coffee shops usually don't. Finally, I loved the setting of the restaurant, which gave you the opportunity to either sit inside and enjoy the ambiance or on the outside patio and enjoy some peace and quiet. I also loved the artwork that they had on the walls, which the waitress informed me was painted by a local artist and which you could purchase if you wanted to. All-in-all, I loved smallSUGAR, will be back in the future, and would highly recommend stopping in!

Service was fine. Nothing particularly standout, but smooth and efficient. For drinks, the coffee was average. It wasn't bad by any means, just nothing memorable. Especially considering the price point. Food-wise, there were some highlights. The sweet potato bowl was well-dressed and flavorful, though it felt like it was missing a protein component to make it more complete. The shakshuka was very good overall, with great flavor, though it leaned a bit salty. The biggest issue was the bread portion. It simply wasn't enough for the dish. I ended up ordering an extra side, and while it's listed as two slices, it's really just one slice cut in half. At $4 for that portion, that is very unreasonable. That was a recurring theme. Pricing felt high across the board for what you receive. While the flavors were there, nothing really stood out as exceptional enough to justify the cost. Overall, not a bad visit. Just one where the value didn't quite match the experience.

The place is very well air conditioned, and the space is very intentional. Visiting from out of state the waitress seemed a bit shy/new but curious about Wisconsin she warmed up a little bit. It's really cool that you can see the chefs in their element behind a glass wall while you wait. The silverware, or should I say Goldwear was beautiful. I started out with the All American Spritz- it was good but nothing extraordinary. However when I tried the pistachio martini, I was in disbelief! I was skeptical to order it as I've never even heard of one before and was unsure how pistachio would translate into a martini. It was creamy and somehow savory and sweet at the same time, the alcohol taste was nonexistent. And the rim was coated in pistachio crumbs. Both the drinks presentation was beautiful. I personally ordered the bbq chicken sandwhich, with mac and cheese instead of fries for the side. The sandwich was smoky, I could not stop eating it! If anyone was wondering what so special about the mac and cheese, it's the name of the noodles. And yes, the waitress will sound it out with you lol! The Mac and cheese wasn't creamy, and I found it a bit bland unfortunately. There was no order the same in the group I came with. The truffle fries were on the thinner crispier side, neat that there were different color of potatoes used. The duck wings came out like their very own presentation. I tried the alligator bites, that were served with 2 sauces, I thought there were kind of chewy , and weird enough I guess I have a preference with how my alligator is served since having tried some at the Wisco State fair. I love that the menu feels curated, you know what you're there for and it's not overwhelming to pick from the options of something new. The bathroom was very cute too! And the bar area was lit up, a cool atmosphere.

That created a slightly rushed feeling right from the start of the experience. When the food arrived, it was not served hot. The fries were seasoned but came out cold, so we had to send them back. The service also felt a bit disengaged, as though the server was ready to wrap things up, even though there was still about 30 to 45 minutes before closing time. That said, once the food was remade and served hot, it was really good. My salad, however, was not the same experience, as the lettuce had brown spots throughout, which took away from the overall quality. You can tell the kitchen has potential when the food is prepared properly, but consistency is the issue. The ambience is very cool and visually appealing. It is a bit dark for my personal preference in the evening, but I can imagine it being bright and beautiful during the daytime. The cocktail I ordered was just okay and didn't really stand out. Overall, there is definitely potential here, but improvements in consistency, service attentiveness, and food quality control would really elevate the experience.

We ended up stopping at The Grand around 9/9:30pm on a Saturday. Upon entering the hostess informed us they were currently only serving the late night menu. We said no problem and elected to grab seats at the bar. There were several empty tables and a few empty seats @ the bar. However, the only two seats together at the bar needed to be cleared from the last patrons that were seated. We stood there for over 20 mins while Jacob continued to walk by never acknowledging us or the fact that we couldn't sit. When he finally cleared the dishes he just walked away, never cleaning the area. When he returned he still never greeted us or apologized for the wait, the mess... nothing. Jacob: What are you having? Me: Well hello... Jacob: Yea... what do you want? Me: Wow... ok. For starters can you please whip off the bar so we can properly have a seat. There is still food residue here from the last customers. ** we get a visible huff** He wipes down the bar and we proceed to order drinks, while he never really speak any more it's all via motions and body language. Amongst ourselves we check in with one another to confirm that we both were feeling very unwelcome. Instantly we decide that we will not be ordering anything additional and will be leaving after this one drink. Which is just as well because Jacob never returns. Someone , whom I can only assume was of a mangement status, asked if Jacob was helpful and we promptly and simultaneously said no and that we would like or bill. She shook her head in utter disbelief and disgust but then she also disappeared. Just so happened that Diamond, whom was on the other side of the bar happen to walk pass. She stopped and asked if we were ok after witnessing our frustration. We explained that we wanted the check and why we were leaving. She was super apologetic and closed out our tab. Her energy literal turned the experience around and if she would have came to our rescue sooner we would have considered staying. Thank you Diamond. Just A Note: Unfortunately, bad first impression because The Grand seems like it may offer a good time with the bowling lanes in the back.
