I gave this place another shot. I got the sesame tofu lunch special. It came with a vegetable eggroll, soup, and rice. Very good value. It was $6 and change! The tofu was very well seasoned and the sauce was flavorful. The soup (I opted for hot and sour) was also very good compared to some other ones I have had in the past. I used to love eating here until recently... everyone is so rude!!! I get that things get busy but no need to shove a bag in our faces while spilling sauce all over our car! Taste grill is probably the best Chinese you can get in Boone in my opinion. It isn't the best Chinese place that I have gone to and it is very Americanized which is bad. But if you are looking for an authentic local Chinese place this isn't the spot to go. The lunch special is a really great deal though if you are looking for a casual quick lunch. Went here with my wife, and absolutely loved it. We got a crunch roll, Alaskan roll, and a spicy tuna roll all for $11! They tasted great, and were very affordable. I also got a general Tso chicken combination plate. The soup side was a delicious beef broth with a wonton. The chicken tasted like basic Chinese take out, but was still good. My wife ordered steak and shrimp and it was great, perfectly cooked. The server was very bubbly, friendly, and engaging as well. This place is the best! Always fast service and great food. They have so many ways to order and even offer a student discount. I love they have have Chinese and Japanese. I'm in complete shock, and not in a good way. I ordered the Hibachi steak with steamed rice and substituted the Hibachi soup to get the egg drop soup. First let me say I assumed the server just had zero personality until I saw him with two other employees that are sitting at the bar eating and they seem to be laughing and joking and having a great time. So his lack of personality evidently just a result of his lack of customer service skills. Not once did he return to see if our food was okay which was probably a good thing. I order my Hibachi steak with steamed rice no vegetables. And as you can see from the picture he couldn't get that right. And I paid 7.75 for that little bit of extremely chewy overcooked meat and egg drop soup that was lukewarm. The server never returned to ask how everything was the next time we saw them was him playing the ticket on the table and walking away without two words spoken. The last time I ate here it was to go and I paid less and got twice the amount of food and the egg drop soup was hot even after I got home. Great food, very fresh, and large portions. Take out and dine in, pretty good ambience but it is loud. The kitchen is open, which is kinda good because you can see how clean they keep it. I do like the food here. They have a really big menu and a large variety of items. It does take a little longer than most places that serve this type of food, but I've never had a bad meal. The service is another story. They are very rude on the phone. Almost like they don't want your business. Some of the servers are odd and not too friendly. Just the other day we watched a couple wait 10 minutes to be seated. Nobody even acknowledged them. Not the waitstaff or the girl that answers the phone. It was SO rude. They eventually left. Taste Grill is a tucked away in a local shopping center. The service is always, always wonderful, and the food is very good. I tend to get the same dish - Shrimp with Garlic Sauce - and my husband likes the General Tso's Chicken. The meals come with egg roll, rice, soup, and fortune cookie. Meals are very affordable. Do not support this business!! I worked at Taste Grill for a year & a couple months. During that time I witnessed & experienced constant unaddressed sexual harassment and carefully dealt with the extremely hostile owners. I quit my serving job there a couple of weeks ago when the owner tried to make me pay for a table that stiffed/dined & dashed on me. The owners treat their employees (front & back) with disrespect & contempt. The food, it's quality and freshness are extremely sub par, I would suggest eating at Sabeing on King St instead. You can taste how much fresher the food is here than at its local competitors. Staff is always friendly, but last time I went I got the sushi and asked my server what was in my sushi, he said ginger, it was not ginger, so maybe not as knowledgeable (white guys serving Chinese) as they could be. This was the first time I went to Taste Grill and probably my last. When we arrived it was busy, but understandable. It was a Saturday night and the dinner rush, so I was fine with waiting a little bit to be seated. Our waiter was very apologetic of the timeliness of the service, but we told him it was fine. I was dining with my boyfriend and three friends. I ordered the Sesame Chicken. After tasting the first bite, something felt wrong. The sauce was strangely sweet, and cold in several places. The portion was pretty big but I ate as much as I could. I was feeling fine until maybe 10 or 15 minutes after I finished eating. I ran to the bathroom and felt nauseous. I wasn't sick to my stomach, but I had bad diarrhea. After I came out of the bathroom, my boyfriend started feeling ill as well. He ordered the Beef Lo Mein and he said it was greasy. The food did not agree with him either. When we arrived home, we both were feeling ill, the rest of the night. One of our friends that we ate with messaged us and said that they were sick to their stomach. They ordered the Chicken Fried Rice. I called the restaurant and told the manager that three of us had gotten sick and they started making excuses. "It couldn't be the food that made you sick, we follow health protocols and cook everything in separate batches. Are you sure it's the food that made you feel sick?". Seriously? I think I would know! We were at the restaurant for over two hours. Two of us started feeling ill while we were still there! I'm agitated and upset that my complaint wasn't taken as serious as it should have been. Ordered online for pick up. Got the meal I did not intend on purchasing and eating and went back to change my order or get a refund. (All the way from across town after they told me to drive back and they'll be making me a new one already). First going in, I was told I would not get refunded or a new meal because it was my mistake and I work in restaurants people make mistakes. I Was so rudely talked to by the cashier, Hannah, who had the biggest attitude towards me and was unbelievably rude. I asked to speak to a manager and they informed me that no manager was on duty but the owner was there so I asked if I could speak with them and they did not allow me to. Working in a restaurant it's about the guests and their experience I will say this is by far the WORST experience I've ever dealt with when getting food. Managers are always suppose to be there to deal with situations like these. This made the cashier handled everything completely wrong and had such a big attitude towards me that I will never be giving my money to Taste Grill again!
