HORRIBLE. Tried to call in my order the other day for takeout and the line was continuously busy because the manager was on the phone the whole time. Had to come in to put in my order, was told it would take 10-15 minutes and it took 25. When I FINALLY got my hibachi shrimp to go they gave me FIVE MEASLY PIECES OF SHRIMP. Mind you I was getting this during my hour-lunch for work and it took them TWENTY FIVE MINUTES TO COOK 5 LITTLE PIECES OF SHRIMP. Never going back there again because none of the servers or people up front even thought it was odd. I am new to the area and tried the sushi here based on other yelp ratings. The rolls were inexpensive, only $5 each. I ordered 2 types to go, and settled in expecting to wait about 10-15 mins. My order was ready in about 5. Not sure if this was a sign of some of it being premade, most quality sushi takes longer to make. I got it home and it was just ok. Not overly fresh or flavorful, the spicy tuna wasn't spicy at all. I don't know if the sauce wasn't added or if its just not that spicy to begin with. I will try the other sushi places in Boone. As a side note, a friend here said the chinese food is great, so maybe that is their specialty. read more

I love this place so much! The best thing is the fresh non-greasy and still delicious food. Also just to correct or update what someone else commented about the sanitation score. Literally the most terrible service imaginable. Put an order in for takeout at 7:30 and was told there would be a 40 minute wait. No issue. I walk in at 8:12, they say it isn't quite ready, still don't have an issue. Fast forward 30 minutes and I'm still standing in the lobby while hostesses joke about how long they made other customers wait (couldn't make this up if I tried), with no food. I ask about my order and they tell me it is finishing up. When I looked back and see absolutely nothing on the grill, I asked "is it actually?" The hostess responds by telling me that my order was messed up and that it was being restarted at that moment. Never was I told there would be a delay, and was intentionally mislead twice by hostesses who didn't wanna tell me there had been a mistake. Put in an online order today at 5:30, and food was supposed to be ready by 6:00. I drove to town, and got there about 5:50, let them know I was there, and paid for the order, which was just over $30. I waited and waited, until they finally called my name at 6:25. I brought the food home, and my wife and I sat down to eat.....we thought. She had ordered the Hibachi Salmon, which was completely burned on both sides, and resembled a piece of cardboard, in both looks and taste. The vegetables were hard and barely cooked. I had ordered Sesame Chicken, which was way overcooked and dry, almost as if it had been put back in the fryer a second time to keep warm, and had a taste as if it had been cooked in oil that fish had been fried in. We both tried taking a few bites, but ended up throwing this expensive mistake away. Would have taken it back, if I had the time and gasoline to spare! Never again! read more

The name is all wrong...it needs to have the word "fresh in the title. The food here is delicous and SOOO fresh. There no heaviness to either the Japanese or Chinese selections. The decor is subtle and understated elegance without giving off a feeling that one is underdressed in the laid back fashion of Boone. Just open a few days, the staff was the right combination of helpful and genuinely professional but friendly. From the delicately done sushi at the best price in the high country to the garlic chicken that came with a lightly sweetened touch, this is the new go-to spot. Located in the Harris Teeter shopping center, there is plenty of parking and no reason not to drop by and welcome Boone's latest dining delight. read more

Unfortunately Taste Grill has really declined in quality in the last year. They're food almost entirely lacks flavor and the sushi is mushy and doesn't taste that fresh (it's inexpensive, but the quality is still cheaper than the price). On the upside, waitstaff is friendly and my order is always right. I only wish the food matched the quality of service. read more

Visited Boone, NC for a few days and went there with my family for a dinner one evening. We walk in and the place is split into pickup and sit down. Okay, nothing wrong with that. We sit down and aren't handed menus for about 5-7 minutes because the waitress leaves to get us waters without remembering them. In that time my brother and I notice that the table is very sticky. We ask the waitress to please have the table cleaned, and she does a moment later. It didn't really work but at least she showed an effort. I decide to order the sesame chicken, and get it with soup and an egg roll because that is a "combo deal" on the menu. One other detail to mention is that I got fried rice on the side. Great right!? We order the food and it's all set. The soup was pretty decent actually. But the waitress forgot my egg roll, but everyone else got their an egg roll! When we get the food I start eating and I notice something is strange with the chicken. I didn't figure it out until I was about halfway done eating all of it. This chicken was literally 75% breading! It was absolutely gross. I was biting into soggy bread bites with tiny chicken in the middle, and it was scrap meat chicken if you ask me. Oh my goodness I was done with that. I showed everyone and they said they will get the waitress over here and fix this issue. She apologizes and takes the food to the back. A minute later she comes out with the same food and says "sorry you've eaten a significant portion of this so we can't get you another entre." I was starting to get mad but I held my cool through the rest of the experience. Do not give this place business. It was not pleasant. At all. My family felt so bad for me that we WALKED TO HARRIS TEETER NEXT DOOR AND BOUGHT ME ANOTHER DINNER. read more

The food was for the most part decent but the waitstaff looked like they could be going to the gothic ball and our server(I think the name Scott) was terrible. OK My first ever Yelp review. First there was no attempt to seat us until we requested it. Second, had to ask for a menu, Third, our very frazzled waitress was unsure what was on the lunch specials. Maybe she was new which is totally forgivable, however the quality of the food was not. The habachi soup was simply weird and flavorless broth with nothing more than at most 1/2 tsp of dried onlion flakes on top. Salad was only chopped iceberg lettuce with a side of shrimp sauce? We could not eat even 1/2 of either. The teriyaki chicken consisted of chicken chunks, boiled onions, and a drizzle of brown sauce with a side of white rice. The chicken was cold, tough, and gristley. My friend ordered the Habachi Chicken which after 30 minutes had not arrived. When we tried to leave without paying for her non meal they could not do it without contacting the manager who was not on site. Good food! We get take-out from here a lot. My daughter enjoys the sushi and the takeout special hibachi chicken which is very reasonably priced. Egg rolls and seaweed salad are good. I've dined in a couple of times. Had the Thai fried rice with vegetables on my last visit, which was superb. However, I agree with most people on here that service leaves a lot to be desired. Tables, seats, and menus are often dirty. You are not acknowledged when you walk in. And the front door is just about impossible to open if it's windy. I would not be surprised if some elderly person or child gets their arm broken. The servers are not as attentive as I would like; once I wanted a refill on my soda, but the server never came back to the table until we were finished with our meal. So to sum up, for me, the food is very good. If the staff would pay a little more attention to cleanliness and service, I would give Taste Grill a better rating. read more
