I have not been to Taste House since they temporarily closed their doors in 2023. I'm always trying to support local establishments in the area but I'm sad to say that the takeout last night was extremely disappointing. I could not stomach any of their food. 4 crab Rangoon with little to no filling, 2 extremely fatty poor quality chicken teriyaki sticks and 1 egg roll for $17 on a bed of rice that tasted so old. I remember their Mala spicy pot being decent (however not as good as the spots I visit in Cambridge and Allston-Brighton) but gets the job done, there were many shrimp heads but where's the rest of the shrimp? Super expensive for small portions, old beef slices and old shrimp, had a bad smell so I tossed $50 worth of food. I woke up extremely sick this morning from the food, never again. read more

Life is short F...it up! Family, Flavors, Friends was looking for a new place to try for dinner on the weekend. We knew that there is a couple of few Asian places in the area so we stumble upon this one. It turns out that it was a new Taiwanese place nice bar some TVs and overall clean. We tried the Taiwanese dumplings, which I thought were very good savory packed with meat and fried perfectly. Try the braised pork belly. It was a slightly sweeter sauce, but cooked right. Then we got the slice fish salt and pepper. Overall good experience for traditional Taiwanese food in the area. read more

Pretty good food and nice staff. My favorite thing I ate was their chive and egg "box". Great flavor and probably the best i've had in the boston area lately. Not a big fan of their "stewed minced pork" which is a rice dish on its own as well as a part of the pork chop rice plate. it is like ground pork with no pork belly at all. The flavor is fine but it's not what I consider stewed minced pork. The stewed egg that comes with it is pretty good I added photos of the menu which will hopefully help give you a better idea of what they have. Not a place i would go out of my way to eat at again but if convenient, a decent option. Prices are a bit high relatively speaking. read more

TLDR: The real deal If you want authentic delicious Szechuan food come to this place. We came during lunch and was promptly seated and served. Portion sizes are big and filling. Our meal consisted of the scallion pancake, beef fried rice, fish filet in oil, string beans, and the beef and tendon in chili sauce. Perfect mix of everything. Recommended by a friend. taste house is a great local waltham spot serving Taiwanese cuisine. The chicken wings were will seasoned and got that crispy crunchy bite! Meat was cooked thru and still juicy! The soup dumplings were typical soup dumplings, make sure you bite a spot, add the ginger soy then slurp and eat them up! Mala spicy beef was nice and tender, general gau was more sweet than spicy but i think most places are like that! Crispy and saucy! Service was good did pickup for lunch. I was so excited to finally be trying this place, as my family always goes to either Joyful Garden, Home Taste or Mulan for good chinese food in the area. My wife dropped off the kids at school and had a 1.5 hour window to have dinner aka a date night. I was really happy to see the menu had some traditional classics as well as some interesting options that I usually get in NY. Parking is hard around Moody st on a Friday night at dinner time. I had to park in the municipal lot, but its only a 5 minute walk away. We arrived at Taste House at 6:45. There were several tables full so it was a good sign that we made a good choice. After a minute standing at the front, the guy seats us. Several minutes later, he comes by to take our order. This is probably about 6:55pm at this point. We ordered Chicken Fingers, Spicy salt and pepper wings, Pork buns, Wonton Soup, Spicy braised tendon noodle soup and just water for drinks. 7:30pm comes around and the only thing we got was the 2 waters. I ask the guy about it and he comes over and says, "I don't know whats going on but your order would take at least 15 more minutes". No apology or anything. We got up and left. Date night ruined with no time to dine elsewhere. What a waste of time. There was 1 guy working the whole dining area. Its Friday night dinner time. What were they thinking! They need to understand not everyone has unlimited time to wait on them. Had I not asked about the food over 30 minutes in, who knows how that would've went. For a place I had high hopes for, its sadly crossed off my list for good. We'll have to stick to our usual places for family gatherings. We only had 30 minutes left before having to pick up the kids. We called Dragon Chef down the street on Moody...10 minutes later, we're eating out of our car and it was good. If the restaurant owners ever read this, please be more considerate of your guests. You can't have one guy be the host, the waiter, the bar tender and maybe even the cook. Especially parents, they sometimes have only a small window to dine. Its an opportunity cost that is most disappointing as busy parents can't always make time to dine in. What a hidden gem in downtown Waltham. Extremely talented chef...authentic flavors and ingredients. Stopped by for lunch today and enjoyed the best hot and sour soup (even ordered an extra one to go) that we have found in New England in a long time. Loved the delicious Seafood and Tofu Hot pot...a bounty of fresh seafood! Service was excellent and so very pleasant! We will return! read more

Taste House was really good! Friendly service and it was very clean inside. We were going to order takeout as it was about 8pm on a Sunday. But after checking out the reviews and photos, we decided to dine in because every pic we saw looked amazing. We started with the roast beef scallion pancake rolls (pictured) which were so so good. also had the mini juicy pork dumplings which were very flavorful. and had the sizzling beef with black pepper sauce which tasted great (but for the price i did expect it to be served with rice or something). definitely will come back again read more

I came here for the soup dumplings, but I enjoyed the fried chicken and beef noodle soup more. If you are looking for the perfect soup dumplings with the thin skin and an abundance of soup in every bite- this isn't it. Many of the dumplings had burst and lost what little juice they had, so it was a bit disappointing. However, you can get solid comforting food here for prices similar to ctown. Expect to pay $15-20 for a plate of veggies because everything has gone up post covid. I'll be back, but it won't be for the sad dumplings. read more

We ordered many dishes tonight to try at home. All the food was well prepared and delicious from dumplings to orange beef. The problem that should be corrected is the very rude service my husband received when he came to pick up food. The person who gave him the food and took our money was nasty and very abrupt. This place is amazing. Everything I have tasted has been great. My favorite has been chicken w/chili peppers, but cumin lamb, mala spicy beef, are not far behind. There are other things I've tried from them and all were good. If you like Mu Lan in Waltham, Five Spices House in Cambridge, or Dumpling House in Cambridge, you'll like this place. Strangely, the website they use for ordering delivery says that I'm out of range even though they are less than a mile away. Luckily grubhub makes delivery possible. read more

Went to Taste House - Bar and Asian Cuisine in Waltham on Moody Street last night with 2 friends and it was so good! Don't get any pictures but from the time we walked in everyone was so welcoming. The bar was full so we sat at a table - started off with Mai Tai's - sooo good!! Then we each got a hot and sour soup - amazing. We then split two entrees a chicken and a beef and each had lots of flavor and was so fresh. We will be back very soon! If you are looking for a new place to try on Moody give it a go! read more

Finally Waltham has more than one Chinese restaurant with a full service bar. Visited today, just a few days after their soft opening and a few days before their grand opening so our expectations were not high. Located right on Moody St, good luck finding street parking and they do not have their own parking lot. But there is plenty of paid lots so your walk will be a short one. Inside is spotless as would be expected from a brand new restaurant. Service was very friendly. Drinks strong, however the scorpion bowl tasted more like a mai tai than the mai tai did. Food came out fast and was very fresh. Nice full crab Rangoons, great dumplings and one of the best noodle dishes we have ever had. Prices vary, some things are quite reasonable, some rather expensive, however I think you can get the best of both worlds here. Good American Chinese food and very authentic Chinese cuisine. The bar is a good size, in fact it takes up one entire wall. Decent amount of tables, and a very open feel. Looking forward to the next visit and trying something new. read more

First and the most important, the food! OMG!! Do not pass this restaurant without having something wonderful to eat. We had fried Pork belly, General Gau's chicken, salt and pepper Shrimp and salt and pepper Calamari. This food was sooo fresh, well prepared and pipping hot. We also had a large bowl of white rice, which was delicious. Never had such well prepared white rice. Give yourself a HUGE treat! Also friends as of course u want to share. The best Asian food in the area. Fresh , well prepared and served by very friendly staff . The tiki drinks are also well made . My only issue is the attmospher is somewhat lacking . The bar stools are too low for the height of the bar , making it uncomfortable . The most problematic issue ( and easily solavable ), overhead lights are set at the max , giving the place the feel of a school cafeteria. With those issues we will continue to go as the food is excellent. read more

Very good Xiaolong Bao (Shanghai soup dumplings) and hot pepper lamb. Huge menu with lots of Sichuan specialities. This was authentic Chinese cuisine. And the staff was very helpful and friendly. Sat by the sunny front window. Would definitely return when in the area again. read more
