Came here yesterday with a large group of 9. Service was very friendly and prompt - our waters were filled very actively. Food was priced well and for an asian restaurant in the middle of the nowhere in WA, the taste and flavors on the entrees my group got were quite good. Definitely recommend the beef pho! read more

This restaurant has gone down hill. It's sooo dirty and gross. It looked like the floor hadn't been vacuumed in six months, and the bathroom toilets are worse than a dive bar's. I don't recommend and I'll never be back. read more

What a great surprise! Our Dinner Club chose this restaurant for our monthly get together, and I can promise we'll be back! Although they seemed understaffed, the service was prompt and friendly. The menu was huge, and the waiter was very helpful in explaining and describing our choices. Some of us had never eaten Thai food, so the experience was new, and proved to be very rewarding. This place encompasses the culture that is Hermiston. It is an old cowboy bar that was turned into a Thai restaurant. They left all of the horseshoes, cowskin booths, and the stacked keg sign out front. While at the same time they threw up some Buddhas and other Thai decorations. Needless to say it is awesome. It is not the most amazing Thai food around, but it is good and it's what we have. The staff is always really nice and willing to give you recommendations. I really like their chicken pad thai. It is different that traditional pad thai; the noodles are really big and thick, like you might see in pad see ew. The portions are really generous and I always leave with left overs. Gotta say, the decor was a bit of a turn off. Not only that, but NO ONE was in the restaurant and it had a weird creepy vibe. The bathrooms were definitely not as clean as I'd like. Would not recommend this place. I had my first and last experience. My pad Thai was clumpy, the chicken was bland, and the pineapple rice was stale. I also typically order a level three for spice and their level of spice is mild at best. Given the quality not worth the money spent. read more

Decided to try this restaurant out after a referral from a coworker, and I'm so glad I did! I ordered the fresh Spring rolls, Tom Kha soup and their basil chicken. All of it was fantastic! The peanut sauce for the spring roll was amazing, the soup and chicken meal were seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of spice (2.5);). Will definitely be going back here again! read more

A Thai Oasis! As a vegan traveling in Eastern Oregon for days, I had been living on L'Arabars and raw almonds and remarkably bad Chinese buffet food. Taste of Thai was so amazing- I'm convinced that they're not just good for Hermiston, they're capital G Good. Salad rolls were soft and fresh and full of crispy veggies and delicious tofu, and the Tom Ka soup was creamy and hot. This is the best Pad thai and crab puffs that I have ever had. In little old Hermiston Oregon. The flavors of the pad Thai are perfect, sweet and spicy but not overly of either. The noodles are great consistency and the whole plate was gone in one sitting (which for me isn't normal) We go to "cowboy thai" as my husband says because of the decor from the previous owners we always get the emerald butterflies, aka crab puffs. Guys. Ok I have been all over Portland trying to find a good Thai place that has as good as puffs as these guys and it's just a no go. Yum. We will be back when we are back home! read more

While visiting Hermiston for work the others in my group said this place was a must to eat at. I do like Thai food but was a little hesitant at how good it could be in such a small city. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. I had the Phad Chicken and it was very good. I ordered it at its hottest level and it really wasn't hot at all to me, but other than that it was very tasty and I had left overs. It was a little on the expensive end for a lunch, at least what I am used to, but worth it (nothing under $10). If your really into nice decor that flows well you may not be pleased here. The decor is a cowboy/thai theme that comes off as a "what the heck", but I enjoyed how the owners took what they had and rolled with it. Overall, if you like Thai and are near Hermiston you should definately stop by. read more

Today was my second time here. I run 2 offices, one of which is in Hermiston. One of my employee's/friends took me here the first time for lunch, and tonight I took my husband there for dinner. There food is VERY good! The only reason why they did not get 5 stars is it is not quite good enough for the price (right on the border of it though). I think their lunches are a tad bit better (and cheaper) but their dinner was really good. Price issue comes in at the fact that we had an appetizer, 2 entrees, a beer, and a glass of tea and it came to $50 pre-tip. For lunch I swear it was just as much food, as I said tasted better, and only like $6 a plate. A little more cost consistency would be nice (preferrably on the lower end). I will go there again for lunch, but doubt I will repeat the dinner. read more

The decor is slightly mixed up with faux cowhide booths and western themed carpeting mixed in with the elephant tablecloths and Thai religious parafanelia but the food more than makes up for the oddities. Don't let the decor make you run and hide. Cowboy Thai? Okay, I'll give it a try. Cow print covered booths and plastic wrap-covered Thai elephants on the wall. But I guess everything is cowboy in this neck of the woods. My son asked why the art was covered in plastic wrap. To avoid dusting? ;) Christmas decorations still up alongside Valentine's Daon balloons and promos on February 15. Haha. We haven't had Thai food since living in Arizona. (We miss you, Latitude 8 in Chandler!). This is pretty decent, not the best, but I would certainly try it again. 3.5 really. Pad Thai is good, kind of our benchmark for Thai food. Huge portion! We ordered the appetizer sampler, but wish we'd just ordered the spring rolls which were excellent. The emerald butterflies (Thai cream cheese wontons) are good, no BBQ pork as it said there was on the sampler, and the satay was awful. The driest, chewiest, jerky of a satay I've ever had! I gave her my order and my husband ordered the same thing but she didn't even let my husband decide what kind of chicken he wanted or how spicy he wanted it, it's not like the order was placed all she had to do was rewrite the order but that was too much to ask? Not too excited. Interior is a bit garish, but eclectic. Don't see thai/cowboy much anymore. I had only one dish and was disappointed. I had the boxing chicken/chicken boxing. Been there 3 times and each time it took over half an hour to get entree after ordering. 2 times it took about 15 minutes for them to even come to the table for the first time. Considering the small size of Hermiston, I am grateful to have this fantastic Thai restaraunt in town. The green curry was delicious, as is their Pad Thai. The chicken satay, & wontons were also fantastic. The server is always welcoming and the ambiance is unique for a Thai restaraunt. If you've never had Thai then Pad Thai is a good place to start, & the Taste of Thai is as good as several other Thai restraunts I have tried. Just remember Thai is often spicy unless you specify otherwise. read more

To those reviewers who think they know good Thai food and rip on this restaurant, to you I say; you know nothing! I lived in Thailand for over 5 years (I think I've eaten enough Thai food to know) I currently live in New York, and when I visit my family in Hermiston, I insist on eating at Taste of Thai as it is the next best thing to a true Bangkok family dinner! I love this place. I haven't been here in awhile due to the fact they are closed on Sunday and that's usually the one time my husband and I come to hermiston. The chicken phad Thai is awesome. They use tamarind sauce. There is also a spicy prawn dish that is very good also. The spring rolls are served with a sweet plum sauce. I have eaten at this restaurant a number of times. They are often a little slow but I tolerate it because the food is decent. Today we sat for over 15 minutes before our order was taken. It has now been an hour since our order was taken and we have still not received any drinks let alone our food. Now that I have wasted my entire lunch break waiting for service, I told the waitress to cancel my order. I said I had to go back to work as I had wasted my whole lunch hour waiting for my food. Her response was, "Well, I'm sorry about that, but that's not my fault". I was not assigning fault but as a restaurant serving lunch, they failed miserably. In her lame response she failed miserably. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure it was her job to bring drinks to our table which we had not received within the same hour. This is probably the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. read more
