We discovered taste of Thai about five months ago, and I'm so glad we did! The owner is very hospitable, and believes in his product. Without a doubt, this is the best Thai food I've ever had. The ingredients are always fresh, the flavors are outstanding, the food is always hot, prepared well and presented well. I hate going to a restaurant and discovering that every single entrée uses the same ingredients and tastes the same. That doesn't happen at taste of Thai! Waitress was friendly but we were overcharged and given port in the place of beef. When I inquired about it...we were lied to. Blatantly. If this was beef, it certainly was put through the ringer or bleach or de-funking chemicals before it was cooked and served to us. I am a big proponent of 'Don't be messing with my food' so we will NOT be going back here. Our bill was almost $85 with out tip for 3 people to eat the lunch special with 3 teas & an appetizer special of less than $10. Outrageous. Food is good. I'll not eat at any restaurant that charges more to pay with a credit card. As someone whose family was in the restaurant business for 50 years, paying by credit card is a courtesy you extend to your customers. When they have to pay more to pay by credit card, over menu price, that's rude. That small percentage should be calculated into your menu price; giving a discount for cash is OK, I guess, even though it amounts to the same thing. I won't be back and I won't patronize any restaurant (including Asia Garden) that engages in this practice. read more

Taste of Thai has been a favorite of ours for well over a decade, going back to their days in Irvington. The only negative is that it will absolutely destroy your ability to eat Thai food anywhere else, because it is so good you realize just how poor the food & flavoring is at other Thai restaurants. Let's start with the service. It was extremely slow. Ambiance-restaurant was clean but so bright in the dining room you needed sunglasses. The food...ooo my...I ordered pad Thai delight. Unfortunately it wasn't delightful. There was hardly any peanuts in it and was not served with a lime wedge. The food was tasteless. My husband meal wasn't much better. He asked for extra spicy. As mine meal his was bland. My husband asked for water and we were told the water was "contaminated" (yes the owners exact words) and he couldn't serve water from the faucet. We should have left right then. If the water is truly contaminated how do they cook the food or clean the dishes?? Not sure what happened to this place. I use to go there when they were in Irvington and it was delicious. Was one of my favorite places to eat. Now...you couldn't pay me to go back. We are calling the health department in the morning and reporting "contaminated" water. read more

Two stars off for taste and price. I don't mind paying the price for excellent taste but this Thai food was lacking flavor. The best parts of this meal were the freshness and temperature of the food, and the service and cleanliness of the restaurant. We were there for lunch on a weekday and for 3 people it was just under $100. No lunch specials offered. What we ordered, spring rolls(excellent), tom ka soup(good, would have again but only if it were included in meal), crab fried rice(average taste, definitely not worth the $19 price tag), pad thai with shrimp(average taste on pad Thai flavor, shrimp tasted so bland they were either not prepared well or farm raised shrimp), crispy chicken(not sure if that's exactly what it was called, but it was average, chicken fried well but lacking flavor). One peeve, we ordered drinks, 2 sodas and 1 water. The waiter informed water was bottled. That's a pretty low scheme to get an extra $3-$4 when you're charging those type prices for lunch. Some take aways, maybe we would have felt better about the price if we had chosen this as a dinner spot. And maybe if I'd never had great Thai food before, the flavors here wouldn't have fallen so short. read more

This is the best Thai food there is. The fried wontons are amazing. I haven't found any anywhere else that even compare. The soups are great, especially the Tom Ka. The Pad Thai is delicious. My favorite meal to order is the Spicy Siam. You get so much chicken and it's always fresh and hot. My kids are obsessed with the chicken fried rice. You can get any spiciness level you want on any of the dishes you order. The food is just as good when you get it to go as it is in the restaurant. read more

My wife and I have been coming here for years. Don't blink, or you'll miss the place in a strip mall in St. Elmo, Al. It's nothing to look at from the outside. The inside is small with enough seating for about 20 people. It's not fancy, it's not a dive. But you can't beat the food. The place does a brisk take out business. If you are lucky, Kam or Destiny will be serving you at one of the few tables. Don't think Kam is being rude, he has a dry sense of humor and can be absolutely hilarious. He is also the most attentive waiter I have ever had in any restaurant. Come in regularly, and you don't have to order, he'll have what you want at your table in short order. I don't care about others who say they don't like the food. Don't judge the book by the cover here. I have never had anything I didn't like here - and I've had just about everything on the menu. My go to dish is the Chinese eggplant with beef, followed by any of the curries. Tonight I got Black Pepper Shrimp for the first time. I'm not sure why I never got it before but it will be on my regular rotation now. My daughters enjoy the shrimp fried rice, Pad Thai, or Pad Thai Delight. My wife, on the other hand enjoys the crab fried rice (it's outstanding) or the shrimp salad which is a spicy delight to eat. While I prefer the egg rolls, the rest of the family enjoy the crab and cheese won tons which come to your table in about 2 minutes from your order and piping hot. I've had all of the soups, but Kam's sister makes the best gumbo I have had - and I'm very picky about gumbo. It's not on the regular menu and shows up as a special every now and then. If it's advertised on their Facebook page, run, do not walk, to get a bowl before it sells out. It's THAT good. There is no bar or alcohol on the menu. But this is a family place, so it's not necessary here. Try the tai tea, it can't be beaten. Are there better Thai places out there? You might find a fancier decorated building. You might find more refined food. But you won't find Kam and his extended family at those places. You must come here. You are immediately a friend and soon become family at your new favorite Thai restaurant. read more

My favorite Thai food is made here. To start, the flavors and ingredients are the best. Then you get to notch it up with heat. I usually get my dishes with a hotness of 100.
