Husband's birthday and he turned down a downtown seafood restaurant for Juicy Seafood. It has been sometime since we have eaten here. The last time was in Castleton. My husband thought this West side location would be nicer and less of a cheap atmosphere. We were welcomed right away and taken to a booth in the bar. It was private and the table was large. Our waitress was also the bartender. She did a great job as she kept an eye on us and also her bar responsibilities. We had the Red and Black. This entree was for two. We added 1/2lb of sausage. We had two large lobster tails. Snow crab with huge meaty legs. About 2 dozen shrimp, mussels and potatoes as well as corn on the cob. All was delicious. We were pleased with our meal and enjoyed all the juicy sauce associated with it I would give this restaurant 5 stars but the building and decoration, etc are dated and the atmosphere is that of a cheap restaurant. We visited on Saturday evening without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The host and our server were both friendly and prompt. I ordered the plant power combo with the juicy special sauce, medium. It comes with 3 corn cobs, 1 lb of broccoli, and 2-3 potatoes. I also had a side of rice. The corn was sweet & juicy and the potatoes were all cooked thoroughly. The broccoli was a little overcooked, almost wilty, but still tasted okay with the seasonings. My boyfriend ordered a create your own combo with snow crab legs, lobster tail, and crawfish with the juicy special sauce - medium. I ordered the Old Fashioned and it was horrible - watered down, no alcohol and a ton of what tasted like grenadine. I replaced it with a Moscow Mule as that was the only other drink that seemed to be safe to make and it was okay. I had a disappointing experience at Juicy Seafood. We stopped for lunch. It was my first visit. The dining room has an ocean theme with fish and nets hanging from the ceiling. A hostess seated us with menus. We had to ask for lunch menu because she only gave us dinner menus. I ordered the fried oyster lunch. The oysters arrived with a burnt breading and the oyster itself tasted old and awful. I was horrified. The seasoned fries were very good so I nibbled on those. Our server, Ro, was really attentive and friendly. She asked about the meal and I told her about the oysters. She encouraged me to order something else and brought me the menu. I ordered the fried shrimp. When the plate came, they had removed the burnt oysters and placed the freshly fried shrimp on top of the now cold fries. I could still see bits of the oysters on the plate. The shrimp were good, better than the oysters. But I just couldn't get past those awful oysters. My husband had the fried calamari, which he liked. I will give them points on cleanliness in the dining room. They have a process for thoroughly cleanly tables between customers. Want to say food came out about an hour after being seated. Food is delicious as always. Parties of 6 or more get automatic 18% gratuity. For this is feel like they should really make sure they work hard to make sure we get everything we need. After getting our food no one came by for a long time. Checks took a minute to come out as well. Saw other people getting their food before us when they arrived after us. We ordered soon as possible. We were on a time crunch. The service was not so great. They took a very long time and they were very pushy for us to hurry up and order and kind of like rush us out I'm not sure why they weren't even close to closing. We've always talked about coming here for years and finally did. Started with calamari as appetizers, not bad but the serving was small. Not used to having starters this small. Both of us went for the make your own combo. Wifey got the scallop and shrimp combo in cajun, medium spicy. Very filling and tasty. I went for the snow crab leg and scallops in lemon pepper. Very enjoyable. The shrimp and scallops were jumbo size. Drinks were served late (not the water, water was served first) and we were almost done with our meal. If you're looking for a sauce try to get all three sauces blended together, that's a favor is mine. I don't typically write negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my recent experience due to how disappointing it was -- mainly because of poor cleanliness and lackluster management. After being seated, we waited over 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. When the waitress finally arrived with our drinks, I noticed my cup of Sprite had visible lipstick stains and old drink residue on it. It was clearly unclean, which was both surprising and disturbing. You expect a basic level of hygiene at any restaurant -- this fell far below that. When I brought it to the staff's attention, the response was disappointing. There was no real apology, just a half-hearted "sorry" that felt more like an inconvenience to them than genuine concern. It became very clear that management either didn't care or had no intention of addressing the issue. The lack of urgency or accountability only added to my frustration. Unclean utensils and poor customer service are a bad mix, and sadly, it completely overshadowed any chance of enjoying the meal. I truly hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements. Until then, I won't be returning -- and I can't recommend this place to others and without proper leadership and attention to basic standards this place is a prime example of how poor management and a lack of basic cleanliness can drag a business down fast. read more

She was great and explained how ordering worked and even gave recommendations. On her recommendation, I got the seafood broil with scallops,which were larger than expected. We got hush puppies as an appetizer and because of the low cost, got a second order with our meal! My husband got the catfish and really enjoyed it. They brought us bibs, gloves and wet wipes. We decided to go to Juicy for lunch because it is convenient to our work locations. Upon arriving Ms. Z always greets you with a great smile and personality. We were sat in Ro's area in the bar and I let her know we both had a certificate and we both wanted to use our certificate and be put on separate tickets. She mentioned she would let her manager know. We both ordered a create your own combo. The food was okay! When we were to check out the server gave our certificates to the manager on duty and this is when everything went downhill. It took Jmarie some time to figure out the certificates. Once she figured them out she told us only one person could redeem the offer. We both told her we had used them before in the same setting and that's why we presented the certificate BEFORE ordering. She told us basically she would only honor one certificate, and she shouldn't allow us to use it on the lunch special. Clearly the restaurant has a lunch menu and we didn't order the lunch special that is presented on the board once you arrive in the restaurant. She then proceeds to say that we didn't order enough food for the voucher when the voucher clearly states " Maximum of one certificate per table ($30)" This is stating you will not receive more than $30 off a meal and if the certificate is expired you will only receive $15 off. My certificate expired and I knew I would only get $15 off. I don't like when people don't read to comprehend what the certificate states. She proceeded to say who honored it before like I remembered the man and lady name. Then she proceeds to tell me they haven't been there in 3 years. WHY are you telling me this? We ALWAYS present the vouchers in the BEGINNING and sit in the bar to avoid this issue. This was clearly a POWER ego. I asked her to call the owner and she told me she was the manager. Managers in retail can basically do what they want to do. I kept reiterating that we showed the certificate in the BEGINNING and she didn't care. I said so you think we would've proceeded if we knew we both couldn't use our certificate. I said what if I came with the exact amount of money. Jmarie then said, I will then fill out a police report. The audacity of her to think I would come into a restaurant to eat food and not pay. I believe managers should be trained better to listen to a situation as we presented the certificate BEFORE we ordered our food. No one likes a quick and hard no. There was no kindness, she abandoned grace, humility, forgiveness and mercy. Also, how rude is it to eat a competitor's food while sitting in the dining room of the restaurant you work at and upon departure you are sitting in the dining room on your cell phone. OMG! This place is addictively delicious. My 16 year old daughter and I went here this past Sunday afternoon and we're still dreaming about it. My daughter has been dropping hints about this place, as well as other seafood places throughout the city, for months, so we chose this spot for our most recent mommy-daughter date. We arrived around 3:30-3:45pm to a moderately full parking lot and lots of parties waiting to be seated. We were quoted a wait time of about 15 minutes, but that wound up being upwards of 30 minutes. They have a Now Hiring sign on the door and that may explain why half of the dining room was empty, but parties were still waiting on tables. Once seated, our server Leon greeted us rather quickly. He came to take our drink orders, but after the long wait we were prepared to order our meal as well. We got King Crab legs with mild garlic butter and the create your own boil with Snow Crab legs, green mussels and shrimp (no head). The food came out so quick! Almost instantly. We also ordered a side salad and white rice. I ordered the Juicy Special sauce on the side. Everything was so tender and well-seasoned and....JUICY! Honestly, we didn't get very much crab for the price, but that was to be expected. The mussels were huge, but I didn't try any. My daughter liked them though. Everything from the crab and shrimp down to the corn and potatoes were so yummy. Actually, the corn was so good we debated as to whether or not is was better than Indiana State Fair corn! It's taking a lot for me not to go back this weekend, but it's pretty pricey. We'll have to limit our visits to maybe once per quarter of the year to stay on budget, but I definitely suggest and give two thumbs up! Had dinner here on a Sunday evening. It wasn't packed at all. We were seated immediately. The place was super clean and if they weren't serving people you could find the staff cleaning tables, sweeping, etc. Our waiter's name was Leon and he was cool. We looked at the menu and ordered drinks. We asked for a particular bourbon but I don't he understood what we said. We ordered anyway... a margarita and an old fashion. We ordered Whiting with fries, and a steamed basket with seafood. The flavors were really good and Leon was helpful about the specials and what to order. Our food came out REALLY quick (kinda scary ) and again the flavors were good. What I didn't like was that the crab legs seemed over cooked. The meat didn't slide out at all which didn't make it enjoyable. After I cracked a few legs I gave up. The lobster and shrimp were good. The whiting and fries were also good, they weren't greasy at all. Our drinks were disappointing. Not worth the money. My margarita tasted like lemonade and the old fashion was horrible. We didn't want to make a big stink about it but I did ask the bartender what they use and he said they use house liquors unless you ask for something different which we did do. Oh well, next time we will know better. I felt like you get more bang for your buck at the Ugly Crab in Avon but I'd come back for the Juicy Seafood's flavor. I'd give it another try. 1. The table was dirty. I had to clean it off, because I was unsure who our server was. Customers should never be seated at dirty tables I asked the hostess to speak with the manager. 2. Server took his time to acknowledge us (6min), but went up to the other table at least twice (right next to us). He never said he would be with us shortly. 3. Our server didn't have his mask over his mouth or nose. When we asked him to pull his mask up he only put it over his mouth. When we asked him to pull it over his nose. He said it's hard for him to breath. There was another person behind the bar with her mask not pulled up over her nose. I didn't feel comfortable ordering a drink from him, when he doesn't wear his mask properly. Needless to say, we will be taking our food to go.
