Super friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. My coworkers and I stopped for an early dinner. They had a daily special menu and most of us got the ribeye with 2 sides for $20. One coworker ordered the filet mignon. Our steaks were quick and the ribeye was pretty good, low on fat and juicy. It was well seasoned, the butter probably helped. I got coleslaw and mashed potatoes as sides, both were good. All of us who got the ribeye were happy. The filet mignon unfortunately was undercooked. She asked for it medium but it came out rare in the middle. She asked it cooked a little longer but it was medium rare at best, she just took it as is. We came for my grandfather's 80th birthday, and the manager completely ruined the night. Our server was great, but the manager was rude and even gossiped about my family at the bar like we couldn't see it. So trashy & downright weird. The food came out cold or overcooked, and instead of helping, the manager just made everything worse. We weren't being unreasonable --we simply asked for two steaks to be compensated for a family tab over $300. The manager couldn't do that for us which sounds like the restaurant isn't doing well. It makes sense though, the manager is trash! Then a worker kept stalking our table, hovering and staring at us, which was beyond uncomfortable -- especially with two small kids there. Last 3 times I was there, my meat was not prepared how I ordered it. It wasn't even close. I ask for medium burgers and they came out rare. Next time I ordered it, I told the waitress that my previous burger was rare and I prefer medium. This time it came out so well done it was dry. Did I upset the cook? Probably. My wife had ordered one of their steaks and it was horribly undercooked. She didn't eat it and won't usually say anything. We just don't go back and we went there at least once a week. It was our go to place. I'll try it again some time, and hopefully they've smoothed out those bumps in the road. Th staff is great at friendliness and greeting you upon arrival. This was my second time and both have been large group events. The service is okay. The first time was better then this one. The food quality is okay for the price. Thursday nights that had live music, which was a plus and nice distraction from the long wait for drinks and food orders. Great spot for some upscale food for a reasonable price. My husband and I stopped in as we had heard food was good here. I had the salad, salmon and French fries, all of which was amazing. For an appetizer we decided to order a side of their house made potato chips with queso for an appetizer, and it was such a huge hit we had to order another. I had salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Salmon was flavorful and cooked just right, mashed potatoes were buttery and broccoli not too well done or mushy. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I was in the area for a Yelp event so I like to explore other places. I have this restaurant saved in Yelp. I would have never spotted it from the street. I have passed this shopping complex many times. There are three sections. TVs playing sports, etc. A fireplace. A bar. To order takeout, I had to go to the bar. An unmasked, extroverted woman gave me unsolicited review on the food; she could have kept her words to herself. I went in to order their daily lunch special of a $13 Cajun New York strip steak with two sides. I ordered tator tots and French onion soup. I pondered cutting my steak before leaving to make sure it was well done; however, I had other stops to make on my way home. I regret I did not check and had them cook to order. When I got home, I tried the toaster oven then had to get out my George Foreman grill. I read mixed reviews about this restaurant. Murphy's @ Flynn's suffers because for all of us that loved Pat Flynn's, it can never match up. While the food is better, and the menu probably equal, the beer is as cold and as diverse, the atmosphere will never be the same. I do recommend the food, as the steaks are really good and always were a strength of the old Murphy's on Keystone. The setting is quiet and relaxed and does make for a good meal, even a romantic evening. All good stuff, but not Pat Flynn's family first, neighborhood party. An old style steak house that is craving some updates and renovations. I ended up here with my husband on an early night out to dinner just because he has driven past and figured it was worth a try. We were seated quickly. The interior looks straight out of a 1990s restaurant with green leather booths and worn out carpet. It didn't help that the average age in the restaurant was senior citizen age. I'm not complaining about that though - I assume it's for the extremely reasonable pricing on the menu. But updates needed on the ambiance for sure. We ordered a stack of onion rings which came on a tall cone and were perfectly crispy. Will definitely recommend those! I was feeling the hooiser spirit and ordered the tenderloin sandwich. Per usual it came twice as big as the bun and I took half home. Breaded and cooked well. Fries were crisp. This place is new my near job, I have passed it several times heading home but never thought to stop in, it's at the corner of north keystone and allisonville Road. I got invited to go by some coworkers after work one day to celebrate a project being completed. This is a nice place! I was pleasantly surprised, at the friendly staff, we quickly got a table and drink orders were taken right away. The menu is pretty standard bar food, sandwiches, steaks, soups and salad. We decided to all share some appetizers, they were tasty, I know that may sound weird but I think you can taste when the oil has been changed or not and your mushrooms taste like cauliflower. If Yelp had 3.5 Stars available for ratings, you would see Murphy's as an example. Somewhere between "Yay! I'm a fan" and "A-OK", they do a lot of things right, but there are bigger issues down the road that are going to take a major makeover to keep the place in business. The 4-star stuff: The food was really good, surprisingly so, and reasonably priced. I ordered the chicken wings (small batch) and though the skins weren't crisped at all, the flavor (BBQ for me) was delicious and the chicken was really tender. I also had a Reuben and house chips. The Reuben looked like it was going to be really dry, but surprisingly, it was moist and tender and tasted really good. The chips were house made and had a lot of crunch, but were unsalted, so pretty good. My wife ordered the tenderloin (it comes breaded) and it was moist and tender with just a light amount of seasoning to keep it from being bland. The 3-star stuff: The service was obviously understaffed, though the folks working were hustling the entire time. We had a tag team of servers trying to cover our table as the place was crowded on a Tuesday lunch hour. The staff was pleasant and though they would occasionally disappear from the floor, did a serviceable job on keeping the wait times down. The 2-star stuff: The place looks like it will be out of clients in ten years. I am 60 years old and was the second youngest diner they had....by about ten years! This place does not draw younger patrons because of the way it looks. The interior is wood paneled with dim lighting and has the suspended ceilings that went out of style a long time ago. If they don't do a major makeover, they will gradually lose their clientele due to attrition. They also need to update their website name (www.murphyssteakhouse.com) and Yelp name to reflect that they aren't an upscale Steakhouse. There is nothing elegant here...it is a casual restaurant with sandwiches and soups, and yes, they sell steaks too. No white linen tablecloths here. So, if I could, I would give them a 3.5 Star rating. I'll be nice because the food was better than I expected and the understaffed servers were trying hard....4 Star rating from me. This was quite an experience! When we first walked in.. we noticed that it was an older, elderly crowd but my dad was pressed to come here for his Fried Lobster! Lol.... he was happy So this was an interesting place. It kind of reminded me of MCL with the population and foods that they served. The food was however decent! I ordered the Ribeye with the fries. The ribeye was decent.... required a lot of A1 sauce!!!!! The fries were really greasy and I had to switch it out for a baked potato! That was a much better choice for me! It was a group of 8 of us and they were really accommodating! The server was very nice and she was very tuned into our wants and needs. Side note, the bar was cool! I ordered meatloaf special, my wife ordered ribeye special. Both were crap on the plate. Meatloaf was a hearty size, but it must have been whipped. It was light & airy instead of hearty and heavy-on-the-fork. Potatos whipped to much and they were flavorless, too. The ribeye was a flat, 1/2" thin, gristle & fat filled piece of "select" meat (vs choice & prime.) This was our 2nd visit. This is our neighborhood go-to restaurant. The food is good. Some of it is VERY good - like the reuben or the tenderloin. Some of it is usually good - like the onion rings that are sometimes a bit greasy. And, we've only found one thing that was horrid and it disappeared from the menu! I love their monster salad which has a hot bacon dressing. Just like Mom used to make. They have a lovely little 6oz filet that perfectly scratches the itch most of the time when I want a steak. We love the fact that the menu has so many selections so even the pickiest of eaters can normally find something they like. Service can be ultra efficient or a bit slow. Depends on the evening and if anyone has called in sick. Lots of time there's live music to enjoy too. We'd recommend Murphy's for a reasonably priced evening out. read more

It is a little known secret that Murphy's Steakhouse, now primarily known as Murphy's @ Flynn's following their 2014 merger with Pat Flynn's Restaurant, was actually started in 1958 as a Frisch's Big Boy restaurant. Seriously! By the 1960's, it had become Calloway's Steakhouse and then Murphy's Steakhouse following its purchase by Jim Murphy in 1977. While the name was maintained, the restaurant was purchased again in 1990 and had largely remained the same until being moved from its long existing Keystone Avenue location in 2014 into current digs at 52nd & Allisonville Road that had already been the home of Pat Flynn's. If you can imagine a weaving together of an Irish pub with a traditional steakhouse with a retro vibe, then you can get a sense of Murphy's @ Flynn's. It's a comfortable location with the possible exception of its obnoxious neighbors at the Hoosier Motor Club who are known to tow cars if you dare park in their spots during business hours. Open Monday - Saturday with daily lunch and dinner specials, Murphy's serves up steaks, burgers, pizza and wings along with its full bar. They also have appetizers and their prices cover a fairly wide range that should please anyone except those expecting value meal prices. I arrived during late lunch hours on a Friday afternoon. There were a few diners, but mostly it seemed like servers were cleaning up from lunch and getting prepped for dinner. This made service a little more casual than is likely experienced during actual meal hours. My service was fine - just a little casual and probably a little slower than usual. I'd never actually been to the Murphy's location on Keystone, though neither location would be that far from my home. It gave off a pretty wonderful 50's kind of vibe that reminded me a lot of Castleton Grill. I'd simply never made it there. However, after several friends visited this location I decided I would eventually get here. Unfortunately, they're closed on Sundays and that is often my prime time for experiencing new restaurants. Today's unexpectedly short work day offered the chance to try it out. I eat very limited red meat, but had been craving a burger for a few days and decided that a non-processed burger was the way to go. Murphy's makes their own hamburger from their steak scraps and you can easily tell it's a better quality burger. I ordered it medium well and it was delivered as ordered. The french fries, which come with the burger for $7.99, were lightly browned and slightly crisped and very good. I ordered my usual unsweetened iced tea and received one refill plus one to go. Murphy's has a handful of televisions that play silently - in this case, all were on sports and it looked like they were all on the same channel. As has been observed, Murphy's is MUCH larger on the inside than it looks like from the outside. I actually sat at a two-top voluntarily and had plenty of room to feel comfortable. They do have two accessible parking spots, though neither one is even close to ADA compliant. Both were taken and I had to park at the end of the building to ensure I had room for my wheelchair. Fortunately, there's a vacancy in the building right now and parking is fairly open except when they have special events. They get really packed during St. Patrick's Day! Murphy's at Flynn's is practically the definition of a 4-star experience with good service, very good food, and very good prices. I would easily go back with a small group of friends knowing that we could enjoy a good meal and have a nice atmosphere for chatting. read more

No more 'game room' or pool tables. Goodbye Jukebox (we miss you), but there are many of the same smiling faces and all around great service and quality that we've grown to expect over the years. Still family friendly, my only ask would be a kids menu. Otherwise, their renovations are appreciated. Their apps are pretty great, carb out on their massive Pretzels with cheese sauce or get an order of wings that actually come w/ celery, carrots and blue cheese, a rarity these days.
