Overall I'd rate my experience 3.5 stars. Bobalicious is a casual boba shop in the Mira Mesa shopping complex next to Hobby Lobby. Lots of parking spots in the shared lot but it does get busy during peak hours. They serve a variety of milk tea, coffee drinks, slushies, seasonal drinks, and some food. They have a tablet kiosk to order from or you can order at the front. Our drinks came out within a few minutes. There's a few tables inside if you choose to stay and enjoy your drink. The reason for less stars is the inconsistent pricing on the main menu versus the kiosk (the kiosk shows all the prices at least .25-.50 cents more for all their drinks), the fact they charge more if you ask for less ice (most boba places do not charge extra), and the drinks were smaller than other places. Has this bubble tea shop really been open under the same name and ownership for nearly 20 years? Bobalicious is tucked away in a narrow suite in the Village at Mira Mesa. I remember visiting this spot years ago, and I don't recall sugar cane drinks being part of the menu. Fresh cane stalks were on display at the service counter. Three menu screens listed the offerings... milk teas, slushies/smoothies, coffee, fruit teas, and two categories of special drinks. Oh, fries and popcorn chicken were available as token savory snacks. Between a banner posted next to the entrance and the presence of the sugar cane at the counter, I ordered a regular size CocoCane Juice which was coconut flavored sugar cane juice. The cost was $6.50, however if you wanted less ice, there was a $0.50 surcharge because more stalks would need to be extracted for additional liquid to compensate for the reduced ice level. The coconut taste wasn't as strong as I had expected, but the natural sweetness of the sugar cane was prominent. Several small tables were available for inside seating along with a couple out front on the sidewalk. I found the ambiance to be sterile, almost industrial, compared to the newer shops which proliferate every month in the SD area. Overall, I gave a 3.5 star rating for my drink and visit to Bobalicious. read more
